What our Kennewick customers say about Sherpa:
“The price was comparable. Sherpa quoted me a fee, and I said this other company was less money. They said, “If you send in this thing from the driver, we’ll send you the $100.” I’m supposed to get that $100 back. However, the young lady that I spoke to over the phone was super nice and informative. And what she said happened. I went with them, and a couple of days passed and I thought, “How long is this gonna take?” I called her up and the next day someone went over there and picked the truck up. Four days later, it was here in Dallas.”
“We purchased a car from a dealership in NH and needed to get it transferred to WA. The rate was comparable, if not better than other shippers. The driver was scheduled within 1 day of booking, gave us a 7-10 day delivery window, which seems pretty standard. The driver actually picked up the car that same day, earlier than expected. I wasn’t there for pickup, but the driver took and provided a lot of photos of the car prior to loading.”
“Our overall experience with Sherpa was largely positive. They were very responsive to our questions and concerns about our auto transport from Southern California to the PNW. Keep in mind, they are ” the middle man” in the transport process. They find the “carrier” company for you. In our case, it was Diesel Auto Express Nationwide Auto Transport. We had our pick up time delayed four times, which was super frustrating. We almost went with another carrier but Sherpa could not find another one, so we roughed it out waiting. Eventually, the car made it up to their yards in Vancouver, Washington to ultimately be transported (final leg of the trip) to our city.”

Factors that affect Kennewick Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between Kennewick, WA and your destination greatly affects car shipping costs. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Route: Kennewick’s location near I-82 and I-84 can impact shipping costs. Routes along major highways are usually more cost-effective than those requiring travel on secondary roads.
- Season: Kennewick’s climate, with hot summers and cold winters, can affect car shipping prices. Winter snow and ice may increase costs due to slower travel times and potential delays.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your vehicle impact shipping costs. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks common in Kennewick may cost more to transport than compact cars.
- Transport Method: Open transport is the most common and affordable option for car shipping to or from Kennewick. Enclosed transport, while more expensive, offers additional protection from weather and road debris.
- Timing: Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lead to lower car shipping costs. Rush orders or specific date requirements may increase prices.
- Market Demand: Auto transport prices can fluctuate based on supply and demand. Busy seasons or popular routes to and from Kennewick may affect costs.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for multiple pickups in Kennewick, WA.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Consider location: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find pickup/dropoff locations near major interstates like I-82 or US-395. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the better options you’ll have for car shipping services. Consider various locations in the Tri-Cities area (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland) for potential cost savings.
- Seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car during off-peak times can result in lower rates for auto transport to or from Kennewick, WA.
- Compare services: While it’s good to explore options, remember that Sherpa Auto Transport offers a Price Lock Promise, ensuring you get the quoted price without hidden fees.

Vehicle Requirements: Washington state requires all vehicles to pass emissions testing in certain counties, though Benton County (where Kennewick is located) is exempt. However, you should ensure your vehicle meets basic safety standards. Registration: New residents must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency. You’ll need to visit a local vehicle licensing office with your out-of-state title, driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
Toll Considerations: While Kennewick itself doesn’t have toll roads, if you plan to travel to Seattle or other parts of western Washington, you may encounter tolls. Consider getting a Good To Go! pass for convenience. Parking: Kennewick doesn’t require citywide parking permits, but be aware of local parking regulations in residential and commercial areas.
Moving Tips: When relocating to Kennewick, set up utilities through providers like Benton PUD for electricity and the City of Kennewick for water and sewer. For internet, options include Spectrum and CenturyLink. Don’t forget to update your address with USPS and register to vote in your new precinct. If you’re moving away, remember to cancel local memberships and forward your mail.
Local Considerations: Kennewick’s semi-arid climate means hot summers and cold winters. When shipping your car, consider the season and protect your vehicle accordingly. The area is well-connected by highways, including I-82 and US-395, making car transport to and from Kennewick relatively straightforward. Kennewick, Washington Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Kennewick?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Kennewick. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Kennewick?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Kennewick?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Kennewick?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. “I’m in the military and I had to change duty stations, so I needed to ship my car, a Honda Accord 2015, from Washington to Maryland. I looked at two transport companies, then I went with Sherpa Auto Transport because their reviews were good and their price was more reasonable. The rep, Tim, was perfect and I loved him. When I got worried because the transport date was coming and I didn’t have a driver yet, he let me know that he was gonna do everything he could to get me a driver. Tim explained to me that Sherpa has a policy of getting a driver either the day before or on the day of the shipping. I thought I was gonna get a driver assigned to me a week before the shipping date, but Tim reassured me that everything was good. In fact, I did get a driver on that day and everything went smoothly.”
“Fantastic service. Got my car shipped without a scratch from Washington state to New Jersey in under a week. No unpredictable fees, everyone was very courteous, no high pressure sales. Price is a little higher but the peace of mind was worth it. Only complaints were that the contractor picking up the car didn’t give me that much notice, I had to call them directly to find out they were picking the car up the next day – but they did respond immediately, which is more than I’ve heard you can say about other companies. The driver dropping off the car in New Jersey also asked to drop it off an evening earlier than planned, which could have been inconvenient for some but was perfect in my case. Be forewarned that they can rarely make it into residential streets, so you’ll likely end up picking your car up from a nearby shopping center or other large parking lot.”
“I rarely leave reviews for things, but I wanted to for Sherpa because it was my first time shipping a vehicle and I chose Sherpa as my broker, and everything went great! They chose West Coast Auto Transport as my carrier (which they assigned very quickly) for shipping my car from WA State to Maryland, and their drivers were so kind and professional. They picked up my car on the first day of the pickup window, and despite a delay in delivery, the carrier gave me an update and the driver for delivery was very communicative about arrival and it truly was door-to-door service! He parked his truck down the road and personally drove my vehicle right to my apartment building door – so awesome! I will absolutely use Sherpa again for any future car shipping needs.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Kennewick, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Washington. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
