When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Park City Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey affects car shipping costs to and from Park City, UT. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the per-mile rate often decreases for longer trips.
- Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection but cost about 50% more and may take longer for pickup and delivery.
- Seasonal Factors: Park City’s weather can impact car shipping prices. Winter snow and icy conditions may increase costs and transit times, while summer is generally busier for auto transport, potentially raising prices.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than smaller cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Park City’s location near I-80 and US-40 can affect pricing. Areas closer to major highways are often more accessible and may result in lower shipping costs.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Terminal-to-terminal shipping is usually cheaper than door-to-door service. However, the nearest terminal to Park City may be in Salt Lake City, affecting convenience and overall cost.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of shipping to or from Park City.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Park City, UT. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Park City car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Strategic pickup/drop-off locations: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major interstates like I-80, which runs just north of Park City. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates to increase your options. Consider locations slightly outside Park City, such as Salt Lake City, for potentially lower rates due to increased carrier availability.
- Consider seasonal timing: Park City’s popularity as a ski resort town can affect car shipping rates. If possible, schedule your auto transport during off-peak seasons for better pricing and availability.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Park City?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Utah Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Utah customers:
“Writing a review because I relied heavily on these while deciding which broker company to go with to find someone to transport my car from Utah to Michigan. Some background information…I am a gal in my early 20`s that has NO IDEA how these things work. So if you are in the same position as me, this review is for you haha. I first decided to go through with another company who ended up not being authorized which made me extremely nervous while looking for a new company. I found Sherpa on Forbes and after reading the reviews and seeing that if the car doesn`t get picked up by a driver towards the end of the 5 day period you agree on, they contribute their own money, I decided to go through with Sherpa. One thing I learned is to never put down a down payment with a broker. This is apparently a sketchy practice. Sherpa DOES ask for a card to be on file, but they DO NOT charge it until they find someone to pick up your car. In my case, they contributed $150 of the $300 broker fee towards the payment for the actual driver so I ended up paying Sherpa $150 dollars. I will say, I was nervous that my car wouldn`t get picked up within the 5 day time period, but Sherpa found a driver on the 4th day and it was picked up that same day. They stayed in communication with the company that transported my car the entire way. I would 100% use Sherpa again in the future if I need to transport my car somewhere.”

“Sherpa found a good driver for us who picked up and delivered our cars within the quoted time frames. The cars arrived with no damage or scratches or anything. We shipped two Subarus from southern Utah to Washington state. Sherpa offers a military discount and a clean car refund, which I appreciate. Additionally, they also allowed us to ship 100 pounds of belongings in each of the vehicles. I would use Sherpa again if I need to ship cars within the US.”
“Sherpa was on time when they picked up my vehicle in Layton, Utah and it only took them three days to deliver it here in South Carolina. During the transport, the driver called and texted. And when he got here, we weren`t here yet. I gave him my daughter and son-in-law`s phone number, so he got ahold of them and got the car delivered. The overall experience was great and it was a fair price.”
“After reviewing multiple transportation companies I settled on Sherpa. A lot of the other companies I reviewed talked about lack of communication. That was not the case with Sherpa. They were very patient in answering ALL of my many questions. They bid out the job and the company that actually transported the vehicle was amazing. Again, amazing communication and very friendly. The gentleman that picked up the car was a pro. We live in a rural area, so there weren’t a lot of large areas for us to meet up. He was very accommodating. The car was being transported from Alabama to Utah, so I was a little nervous with it being such a long trip. My daughter received the car in the same condition it left in. I’m so thrilled with the whole experience. I hope I won’t have to do it again any time soon, but if I did I would definitely use Sherpa.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Park City, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Utah. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
