What our Sugar Land customers say about Sherpa:
“The driver contacted us as he was getting close to our delivery location – and because our location would pose challenges for delivery, he gave us two options for meeting him to get our Jeep. Delivery experience went very smoothly. And we’ve got our Jeep back to enjoy the rest of our vacation in Sugar Land!”
“I looked at about 3 different auto transport companies when I moved from Texas. The customer service representatives were very kind. My mom speaks Spanish and they were able to get a hold of a Spanish representative, which was kind of them. Also, if I left them a voicemail, they would get back to me even on Sundays and it was cool that they work on Sundays.”
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! Yes, I did pay for expedited service, but she got a carrier assigned the same day and saved the day! The car was picked up on January 4th in Texas and it arrived ahead of schedule in San Diego on January 7th.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Sugar Land Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Sugar Land, TX. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the per-mile rate often decreases for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and affordable option for auto transport in Sugar Land. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection from Houston’s occasional severe weather but is typically only necessary for high-value or classic vehicles.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship to or from Sugar Land due to the space they occupy and their weight.
- Time of Year: Sugar Land’s mild winters and hot summers can affect car shipping prices. Summer months often see higher demand and prices, while winter can be more affordable but may have weather-related delays.
- Route Popularity: Sugar Land’s proximity to major highways like I-69 and US-90A can make it more accessible and potentially more affordable for car shipping compared to more remote locations.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower car shipping costs. Expedited services for quicker transport to or from Sugar Land will increase the price.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Non-running cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of shipping to or from Sugar Land.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Sugar Land, TX. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book in advance: Schedule your Sugar Land car shipping at least two weeks ahead. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-69 or US-59. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues. Car shipping companies aren’t responsible for items left in the vehicle.
- Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates can provide more options and potentially lower costs. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of carrier availability in the Sugar Land area.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car to or from Sugar Land during off-peak times may result in better rates due to lower demand.

Sugar Land, Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Sugar Land?

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Sugar Land?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Sugar Land?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Sugar Land?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I am truly grateful I found Sherpa Auto Transport. This was my first time arranging transportation and needless to say it was really overwhelming. I went online and found so many companies, but just had no idea how the process even worked. I contacted some and got quotes from a lot of them, but it was just frustrating because I wasn’t convinced by any. Of course, I read reviews and spoke with a few companies. Some of which were nice and other not so much. I just couldn’t decide which company to hire. What made up my mind was that Sherpa was the only one that actually took the time to explain how the process worked. They were extremely nice and patient with me. I needed to transport two vehicles from Texas to Florida in a very short period of time and not only were they able to find a driver, the price was reasonable. I also must say the driver was friendly and helped out with the inspection, he also kept in touch and delivered right on time as he promised. Felt confidant that my vehicles would arrive safe and they did. If I ever need car transport again I will book with Sherpa and I definitely recommend them!!”
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left TX on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm! The carrier was friendly and customer service was excellent! The street where he picked up the car was too narrow for his truck, so he parked the truck, walked to the pick up address, checked out the car, filled out the BOL and drive by daughter’s car to the truck and loaded it! Great work Horizon Carriers and superb vetting process on the part of Sherpa Auto Transport for choosing only the best of the best for their customers! This was our first time transporting a car so we were nervous, but Sherpa made it a truly stress-free experience!!! Thank you for caring about your customers and putting their needs first!”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren’t the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”
“I sent emails to two companies and Sherpa was the only one that called me. The other one just sent me emails. So Sherpa developed a relationship with me over the phone and they seemed like they could do it. They were confident. The gentleman told me everything and they really seemed to have better customer service. The coordinator was very knowledgeable, very calm and very helpful. I talked to another coordinator and it was the same thing. I was not there for the pickup and delivery, which was another reason why it was so important to have a good relationship. I had a surrogate and they said both the pickup and the delivery went really smoothly and the people were very professional. The final price was exactly what they said it would be. They have a very good system. They seemed to know what they were doing. They were honest and straightforward. That extra touch of making a phone call to me, as opposed to just emails, was really helpful.”
“We contacted a few companies and listened to their stories and what they would offer. Sherpa came out as one of the providers that was able to work with our timeframe, offered a reasonable price, and has good reviews. I had a friendly conversation with good information from Sherpa’s rep. The price was also exactly as agreed. The driver we had was an extremely nice gentleman. He picked up the car from our neighbor in Tyler, Texas, where we temporarily parked the car. He drove it all the way here. There were no damages of any kind. So, the car was in great condition. The gentleman was very friendly and contacted me about two hours before delivery. They had some trouble with finding the right road because it doesn’t show in their GPS services, but then he got very close. So, I walked up to him. He parked his trailer in a safe place where he gave me the car and I just needed to drive the car 30 seconds to the actual location.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Sugar Land, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
