- Vehicle Size. Full size Pickup Trucks cost more to ship than Compact Cars.
- Location, Location, Location. For your convenience, we strive to make all shipments door to door. However, if you are in a remote location, consider selecting a location closer to an interstate to help reduce your car shipping cost.

What our San Angelo customers say about Sherpa:
“The communication was superb as well. We knew when and what to expect. It was pretty cut and dry. We knew the time frame for pickup. They picked up and we knew the time frame for delivery. It was a really good timeline. It wasn’t inconvenient in any way at all. There were no questions about it. Once the ball got rolling, it was rolling pretty good. There were no glitches. I was completely satisfied to get the car where it needed to be with no problems at all. Overall, it was an A+ situation for me. This was a military family situation and it was extremely helpful for us, especially during a time during COVID, it really made our situation a lot easier. I would definitely use them again.”
“Excellent experience. We were on a condensed timetable for a pickup window and Sherpa came through! Driver was professional and picked and delivered car in less than 72 years from NJ to Texas. First time using a car hauling service like Sherpa. They made it an excellent experience from quote, to status reports, to pick up, and finally to delivery. The quote was 100% accurate, not a penny more! Will use again! Thanks SHERPA!”
“The agent I dealt with from Sherpa was Kate and she had solutions not excuses. Yes, I did pay for expedited service, but she got a carrier assigned the same day and saved the day! The car was picked up on January 4th in Texas and it arrived ahead of schedule in San Diego on January 7th. I also want to leave positive comments on the carrier, New Day Inc. If you are fortunate enough to get Next Day, Inc. and Sergei as the driver, you will be in good hands.”

Factors that affect San Angelo Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from San Angelo, TX. Longer distances typically result in higher prices, but the cost per mile often decreases for longer trips.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your vehicle affect shipping costs. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks cost more to transport than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to San Angelo. Enclosed transport offers extra protection but costs about 50% more and may have longer delivery times.
- Seasonal Factors: San Angelo’s hot summers can affect car shipping prices. Peak seasons, like summer months, typically see higher rates due to increased demand for auto transport services.
- Location Accessibility: San Angelo’s location off major interstates like I-10 and I-20 may slightly increase shipping costs compared to more accessible cities. However, its proximity to highways like US-67 and US-87 helps mitigate this factor.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower car shipping costs. Expedited services for quicker transport to or from San Angelo will increase the price.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Inoperable cars require special equipment for loading, increasing the cost of auto transport to or from San Angelo.
Understanding these factors can help you estimate your car shipping costs more accurately. For a detailed breakdown of pricing factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your San Angelo car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping is generally more affordable than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower rates while still providing reliable service.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like US-67 or US-87. This can reduce fuel costs and potentially lower your overall car transport price.
- Lighten your load: Remove personal items from your vehicle before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item safety during transport.
- Stay flexible: Being open to various pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your San Angelo auto transport. Consider a range of dates rather than a fixed schedule.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car to or from San Angelo during off-peak times may result in more competitive pricing.
- Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good running condition. This can prevent potential delays or additional charges during the auto transport process.

San Angelo Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When moving to or from San Angelo, TX, it’s crucial to understand the local vehicle requirements and regulations. Texas has specific laws that car owners should be aware of when shipping their vehicles. For instance, Texas does not have a statewide toll tag system, but if you’re traveling through other parts of the state, you might encounter toll roads. The most common toll tag in Texas is the TxTag, which you can remove before shipping your car to avoid unnecessary charges.
Vehicle registration in Texas is handled by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV). New residents have 30 days to register their vehicle after moving to San Angelo. The process involves providing proof of ownership, insurance, and passing a vehicle inspection. Speaking of inspections, Texas requires annual safety inspections for all vehicles, so ensure your car is up-to-date before shipping it to San Angelo.
When settling in San Angelo, you’ll need to set up utilities. AEP Texas is the primary electricity provider, while the City of San Angelo handles water services. For internet, you have options like Suddenlink and AT&T. Don’t forget to update your voter registration and, if you have children, enroll them in the San Angelo Independent School District.
San Angelo’s climate is semi-arid, with hot summers and mild winters. When shipping your car, consider the weather conditions and opt for enclosed auto transport if you want extra protection from dust and potential hail. The city is served by major highways like US-67 and US-87, making it accessible for car shipping services.
Whether you’re moving to or from San Angelo, reliable car shipping services can make your transition smoother. A reputable auto transport company will ensure your vehicle arrives safely, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your move. Remember to research and choose a trusted car shipping company that understands the unique needs of shipping a car to or from San Angelo, TX.
San Angelo, Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from San Angelo?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from San Angelo. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from San Angelo?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from San Angelo?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to San Angelo?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I Googled the top 10 shipping companies, and Sherpa was number 2. I called the first one, and they didn’t answer, so I called Sherpa. They answered and they were really nice. They told me some information that others didn’t or tried to withhold, and that was pretty nice in terms of transparency. I’m glad that I was able to connect with Sherpa. Because there were some that called me to give me offers and there were some of them that were bad mouthing others. I appreciate it when I spoke with Sherpa that they weren’t like that. It was more so on the professional side and just trying to help me get my car to where it needed to go. The guy that came to get the car was really awesome. He’s even from Texas, so I knew that he was familiar with the area. Communication was awesome as well. On his way to Cali, he kept me notified every half hour or so. When he got to the pickup location, he was pretty respectful in terms of not wanting to drive the big vehicle into this gated community, because a lot of them parked their cars outside along the road. I met the driver outside and he loaded my car with very good care and got it to Texas in less than the time I was told.”
“I had a car with a blown engine and had to ship it from Driftwood, Texas to Deerfield Beach, Florida to get it repaired. The window for someone to pick up the contract was eight days and they picked it up in six days. It was one of those big transports with 10 cars on it and ours was the last one to go on. The driver texted us 40 minutes before he was gonna show up. He was a really nice guy. The engine had problems and we didn’t want it to be started and stopped too many times. He told us that he would locate it on the truck at his next stop where it would only have to be started that one time other than the drop-off point. He did that and it was a successful transport. He was fantastic. From our experience, Sherpa is dependable. We’re happy and we’re gonna use them to come back this way. The car is gonna be coming back in two months and I already have the contact at Sherpa to call them and schedule the pick-up.”
“My youngest was in college in Michigan and a family that had befriended him had fallen on hard times. Their daughter was his roommate and she needed a car for her summer work program because she had to drive to get this internship. I just bought a new car and I had my old one that was still in very good shape. I didn’t need it and I don’t really need the money for it. I said that I’d give it to her but I couldn’t drive it up there. I was already going to fly it there to help him move. I found Sherpa and they had a really nice arrangement where we paid an upfront cost for them to find a driver and she just had to pay the driver. It was a really good thing for me because I wanted her commitment to pay something for the vehicle. It was a reasonable amount. That worked out really well for me. Sherpa was very helpful and easy to communicate with. The driver was very polite, courteous, and prompt. He got here on time and called me. He dropped off the vehicle and it was fine. I was very happy with the service. It was my first-time experience transporting a vehicle. I did it online and Sherpa came back promptly with a good price. I had contacted four other companies and some of them didn’t even respond. The ones that did were very, “Well, we’ll let you know,” that kind of thing. Sherpa was very good at getting me a price, “This is what it’s gonna cost.” It was getting closer to the deadline and they’d given me a window and they were still within the window. It was just so much was going on so I was a little nervous. I called Sherpa and at the time, you get an answering service thing because they get a lot of calls. I didn’t have time to wait. They called me right back and said, “We still haven’t found a driver for you, but we’ll get you something right now.” They didn’t realize I was anxious. They had a lot of information on their website. They were very prompt and they allayed my fears and said, “We haven’t found anyone yet, but if you need a name right now, we’ll get you one.” It worked out really well. In the payment way, the driver that they got wanted a little more cash so they reduced their fee that they would take from my card. But the problem was the young lady that was receiving the car only had so much cash and she’s a student. I said, “Well, look, can I just pay that difference to the driver upfront?” They said that was fine. When the driver came, I said, “I’ll give you the cash and then you can just email that you got the money.” He sent me a text that this was received so I had a record. That made me feel comfortable that he received that cash. When he arrived, he just took the additional cash from the young lady I was sending the car to. They were flexible and honest about the transaction. I would encourage people to use Sherpa. To drive the car would have cost me just as much money with hotel stays and gas. The stress would have been so much more too. You have to drive it 1,800 miles for three days and it would have been terrible. Sherpa delivered the car right when they said they were going to deliver it.”
“I used Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a Jeep from Charlotte, NC to Austin, TX two weeks ago and was very pleased with their service. They were very easy to work with, kept in contact with me, followed up on any questions, picked up and delivered as scheduled, and were fairly priced. When the carrier Sherpa hired to transport my vehicle had not contact me as planned, I called Sherpa who immediately contacted the carrier, then followed up to see that the carrier had called me. At each stage of the process, Sherpa kept me up to date with emails as to the status of the transport. The driver for the carrier communicated with me on the days of pickup and delivery as to the specific time (within an hour) and location for pick-up and drop-off, as the truck was too large for some neighborhood streets. The driver also took good care loading, securing, and unloading my vehicle. I worked primarily with one contact at Sherpa for the entire process but when she wasn’t available her colleague addressed and followed up on my question quickly. I highly recommend that Sherpa Auto Transport be considered for any of your vehicle transport needs.”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement. After getting the run around from another carrier, Sherpa really stepped in and made things easy. They were patient, explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel stupid for asking. I transported a car that was my father’s (a 1964 Porsche 356) that is very special to our family and I would trust Sherpa with it again.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in San Angelo, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.

This solution is not only cost-effective but also allows you to focus on other aspects of your move or travel plans. Whether you’re relocating to enjoy San Angelo’s rich history or leaving the Concho Valley, car transport makes the process effortless and worry-free.
Choosing the Right Auto Transport Company
When choosing a car shipping company for your San Angelo transport needs, prioritize reputation and experience. Look for providers with a solid track record of successful auto transports and positive customer reviews. Ensure the company offers adequate insurance coverage and maintains a good safety record with the FMCSA. Consider factors like pricing, service range, and customer support quality. Be wary of unusually low quotes or companies that demand large upfront deposits. A reliable car transport service should offer transparent pricing and clear communication throughout the process. By carefully evaluating these aspects, you can select a trustworthy provider to safely ship your vehicle to or from the Concho Valley region.
