What our Grand Prairie customers say about Sherpa:
“It was very easy setting up transport with Sherpa. I submitted an online request/quote, and then went forward with that after I got the response. They called to set up final details and explained the process. Within five days, the vehicle was picked up by the driver and Sherpa coordinated that with me. Easily within a week of that, it was at my doorstep. The pick-up was in Woodstock, Virginia and the delivery was in Grand Prairie, Texas.”
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected. I decided to contact Sherpa and Kate had solutions not excuses.”
“I am truly grateful I found Sherpa Auto Transport. This was my first time arranging transportation and it was really overwhelming. I needed to transport two vehicles from Texas to Florida in a very short period of time and not only were they able to find a driver, the price was reasonable. I also must say the driver was friendly and helped out with the inspection, he also kept in touch and delivered right on time as he promised.”

Factors that affect Grand Prairie Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Grand Prairie, TX significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to or from Grand Prairie. Enclosed transport, while about 50% pricier, offers extra protection from Texas’s intense sun and occasional severe weather.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like trucks or SUVs popular in Texas, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space and weight they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Grand Prairie’s proximity to major highways like I-20 and I-30 can help reduce costs. However, shipping to more remote areas of Texas might increase prices.
- Seasonal Demand: Summer months and January often see higher car shipping prices due to increased demand. Grand Prairie’s mild winters might make off-season shipping more feasible.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship as they require special equipment for loading and unloading.
- Timing Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive pricing for your Grand Prairie car shipment.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Grand Prairie, TX. Grand Prairie, Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Grand Prairie?

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Grand Prairie?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Grand Prairie?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Grand Prairie?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I’ve had experiences with really shady characters `cause I moved from Oregon to Texas two years ago, and I was ripped off the first time for a couple of $1,000. I couldn’t believe how many dishonest people there are in the middle of that. They don’t want an inventory from you because if you give them an inventory then that’s everything that you wanted and they can’t give you this sham of, “Oh, we didn’t know you wanted to move that too.” I had a 1,500 piece inventory with dimensions for everything, and they didn’t want to see it. It was a very difficult experience. I heard it was the same thing with transporting cars, so I was very careful. I went to the Better Business Bureau website and the only company I was gonna use was the one that had an A rating. Sherpa was one of the several companies that were recommended on the site. I called five people, and Sherpa had the most congenial salesman. He also made me a guarantee right up front that it was gonna cost me a certain amount of money. They had to use their commission to pay for the driver `cause they couldn’t find somebody at the price they gave me. Sherpa was really awesome. Plus, they were very efficient. Every phase of the operation was documented and they sent me an email or a text on every phase. They also got me in touch with the driver and he made me aware of everything that was taking place at the pickup, the delivery and his transit. They were very professional. I was buying a car from a relative, and that relative took pictures of the truck. The driver also took pictures, and he delivered the truck as well as the pictures. I had two sets of pictures and the car was perfect. Everything was great, and I couldn’t ask for any better. I wrote a review for Sherpa’s website, and another one for the Better Business Bureau website also.”
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left TX on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm! The carrier was friendly and customer service was excellent! The street where he picked up the car was too narrow for his truck, so he parked the truck, walked to the pick up address, checked out the car, filled out the BOL and drive by daughter’s car to the truck and loaded it! Great work Horizon Carriers and superb vetting process on the part of Sherpa Auto Transport for choosing only the best of the best for their customers! This was our first time transporting a car so we were nervous, but Sherpa made it a truly stress-free experience!!! Thank you for caring about your customers and putting their needs first!”
“I unexpectedly purchased a Porsche Cayman in San Antonio, TX and needed to move it to Cleveland, Ohio. All within the time span of 5 days. I posted a car transport request on one of the popular sites and received multiple queries and quotes. The Sherpa quote stood our as being one of the lower priced quotes, which caught my interest. After speaking with the Sherpa agent, I was impressed with his depth of knowledge, and the support that was promised throughout the entire process. I opted to select Sherpa, simply based on the person that spoke with, and their many positive on-line reviews. I thought it was an excellent value. The transporter who accepted the job of moving my Porsche was Konstantin. I must say that he was among the most conscientious persons I have ever met. He thoroughly photographed all aspects of my care before loading it into his enclosed trailer. He secured the wheels and covered the car. Throughout the two-day trip he provided updates. He also answered my text messages when I sent queries. That fellow was so good that I’d hire him for my own business, if I could! Shipping a Porsche was a bit unsettling. However, the Sherpa team and Konstantin did everything they could to reduce my anxiety and delivered my car as promised. Thank you, Sherpa and Konstantin. I offer my highest recommendations. Dr. Decker”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren’t the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”
“I shipped two cars using Sherpa Auto Transport during the month of DEC 2020. First car I shipped was a 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback from Austin, TX to San Diego, CA. The 2nd car I shipped was a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT from San Diego, CA to Lehi, UT. On the first car shipment, their sales agent Angie was very helpful. She took the time to explain to me the process involved in shipping a car and she also noted that Sherpa Auto Transport has a “price lock” guarantee. This to me was one of the reasons I chose to ship with them. For the 1st car shipment, it was picked up on a Monday night in Austin, TX and it was delivered in San Diego, CA early Thursday morning. I was so impressed with this shipment that I used them again for the 2nd car shipment. For the 2nd car shipment, it was picked up early morning Wed in San Diego, CA and it arrived on a Saturday morning in Lehi, UT (Friday was Christmas Day so no delivery scheduled). To sum it up…if you want a reliable company to handle your car transport, Sherpa Auto Transport is the one you should use.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Grand Prairie, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
