Factors that affect Georgetown Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: Georgetown’s central location in Texas affects shipping costs. Longer distances, such as shipping to or from coastal states, typically result in higher prices due to increased fuel consumption and time on the road.
- Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Georgetown. Enclosed trailers, while offering extra protection, are about 50% more expensive and may have longer delivery times.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Georgetown’s proximity to Austin and major highways like I-35 can help keep costs down. Rural locations outside the city may incur additional fees.
- Seasonal Factors: Georgetown’s hot summers can affect car shipping prices. Peak seasons, typically summer and January, often see higher rates due to increased demand.
- Vehicle Size and Condition: Larger vehicles or those with low ground clearance may cost more to ship. Inoperable vehicles require special equipment, increasing the price.
- Flexibility: A wider pickup window, typically five business days, often results in lower costs for car shipping services to or from Georgetown.
Understanding these factors can help you plan your Georgetown car shipping more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of car shipping costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Georgetown car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major highways like I-35 or SH 130. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and liability, potentially leading to lower costs.
- Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates. Consider allowing a window of a few days for both ends of your auto transport to or from Georgetown.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car during off-peak times can result in more competitive pricing.

When planning car shipping to or from Georgetown, TX, it’s crucial to consider the seasonal factors that can impact your auto transport experience. Georgetown experiences hot summers and mild winters, which can affect your car shipping process in various ways.
During the scorching summer months (June to August), temperatures can soar above 95°F (35°C). If you’re shipping a car during this time:

Car Shipping for College Students in Georgetown, Texas

Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I looked at three other companies but I had some confidence in the way the Sherpa salesman I spoke to was talking so I chose them. I had my car at my friend`s house and they told her when they would be there for the pickup. It ended up being the following day but that was fine. They were not able to get into the community, though, and my friend had to get someone to drive her to drop off my car and follow her so she could take her back. But I was very happy that they were able to drop it off at the house during the delivery. Sherpa was reliable and it was very nice to have kind of a sane area on the journey. The idea that I didn`t have to think about it anymore made things much easier.”
“Sherpa was great. I couldn`t have asked for a better service. Their reps helped me and gave me the information I needed. They followed up with everything. The car was perfect. The driver was Ray, and he was very nice. I felt very comfortable, and I would use Sherpa again, and I would tell anybody to use them. The quality and the price were great.”
“Our son is going to school in Seattle, and his car was totaled. We needed to get him a car out there, but we wanted to have it titled here. Sherpa was the first to call back and seemed pretty straightforward. They said the transport was gonna be four to six days and that was what it ended up being. The car was just fine, like how we left it.”
“The experience with Sherpa was wonderful. We contacted different auto transport companies. Sherpa answered a bunch of questions I had that other people couldn`t answer. They were competitive in their pricing too. It was less than I thought it was going to be. When you look at the bad reviews of different companies, you always find out that it`s a bait-and-switch price thing. It scares you a little bit. But Sherpa`s price guarantee alleviated a lot of that. Within a half hour of agreeing with Sherpa, they had a driver assigned. The driver called me up the day before. He told me he was likely to make it out the next morning, but there was a chance he would be there that night and asked if that would be a problem. I told him it wouldn`t be. They picked up the car earlier than we had expected. But we were prepared to do it. The driver was pleasant. He was able to communicate and got the car off the truck. The car came three days before it was anticipated. The driver called the day before to let me know and pinpointed a time. Around that time, he called me up and asked if I could meet him at his location which I did. The car came off perfectly. I`m very happy with their services. When you read about these types of companies that are middlemen like Sherpa, it`s a scary process `cause you hear all kinds of horror stories. But Sherpa was able to relax me, calm me down, and had a flawless pick-up and delivery. The group that Sherpa contracted with was a company called Umbrella. Through emails and communications with both Umbrella and Sherpa, I had the driver`s contact information the whole time. I was clearly led through perfectly. They allowed us extra weight in the car, but we didn`t need any of it. I was floored with how well things went, especially when you consider the weather patterns that were going through East Coast and through the Midwest in early January. Instead of taking the north route, they took the south route through Texas and Arizona.”
“I had an Audi that I bought from my brother that was in Texas and we had to move it from Longview to Galt, California. I reached out to Sherpa and I didn`t have any problems. Their rep told me what to expect and who they`d be in contact with. So, I gave my brother`s information then they were in contact with him and made all the arrangements on that end. They told me in advance the paperwork that we would need, so I made sure that he had all that in place and it went pretty smoothly. It was a little pricey and I don`t think a lot of people could pay that. Their service also cost me a little more than what I wanted to pay but I needed to get that car out of his property and get it over here. So, I went ahead and paid for it. Their price lock promise was very adequate and it worked well because we weren`t sure exactly the dates that they were going to be able to get a driver. We ended up waiting three months before we finally were able to obtain a driver who could pick it up in Texas and come over to this direction. So, I was pleased that I didn`t have to worry about any additional expenses. They gave me the number of the driver, so I was able to contact him. He also contacted me several times enroute to let me know where he was at that approximate time because I was making sure I was home when he`d be arriving. So, that worked out really well. For the delivery, I was concerned that I would have to go to a larger location to try to go and pick it up somewhere. But they drove right up to my house here. They unloaded a couple others then unloaded mine and drove it into the driveway for me. I paid for an open trailer and I got exactly what I paid for. And I saw how they moved other vehicles to load and unload and I was very pleased with it. Their customer service reps were also very efficient and I like that I didn`t have to keep calling them. They were on top of things, so for me as a professional.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Georgetown, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
