Factors that affect Allen Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey affects car shipping costs to and from Allen, TX. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection but cost about 50% more and may have longer delivery times. Most vehicles shipped to or from Allen don’t require enclosed transport.
- Location Accessibility: Allen’s proximity to major highways like US-75 and SH-121 can help keep shipping costs down. Urban areas are generally cheaper to ship to than rural locations.
- Timing Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window, such as 5 business days, often results in lower car shipping prices. Rush or guaranteed pickup dates typically cost more.
- Vehicle Specifications: The size, weight, and condition of your car impact shipping costs. Larger or inoperable vehicles are more expensive to transport. Most standard cars in Allen won’t incur extra fees.
- Seasonal Factors: Auto transport prices in Allen may fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months and January tend to be busier, potentially leading to higher rates. Allen’s mild winters usually don’t significantly affect shipping costs.
Understanding these factors can help you plan your car shipping to or from Allen, TX more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of car shipping costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Allen, Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Allen?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Allen. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Allen?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Allen?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Allen?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“Had a great experience despite a couple things that went wrong. Sherpa paired me with Maxr LLC as my car shipment company. Everything about the pickup process was smooth and my neighbor was actually able to handle the pickup process. Fast-forward to the car delivery, unfortunately (for some weird reason) my car`s battery was dead and the back glass got shattered. The driver said he checked all the cars that morning before getting on the truck and everything appeared okay. So, a rock or something must have fallen on it and shattered the back glass. Luckily, he already had his manager on the phone and his manager assured me they`d cover the cost to replace the rear-glass. The driver then jump started my car by attaching two sets of jumper cables together to a car that was stored above my car. Did things go wrong? Absolutely. But what stood out is what they did to address the issues immediately. Overall, I`m really happy with how quickly and efficiently everything was handled!”
“I am truly grateful I found Sherpa Auto Transport. This was my first time arranging transportation and needless to say it was really overwhelming. I went online and found so many companies, but just had no idea how the process even worked. I contacted some and got quotes from a lot of them, but it was just frustrating because I wasn`t convinced by any. Of course, I read reviews and spoke with a few companies. Some of which were nice and other not so much. I just couldn`t decide which company to hire. What made up my mind was that Sherpa was the only one that actually took the time to explain how the process worked. They were extremely nice and patient with me. I needed to transport two vehicles from Texas to Florida in a very short period of time and not only were they able to find a driver, the price was reasonable. I also must say the driver was friendly and helped out with the inspection, he also kept in touch and delivered right on time as he promised. Felt confidant that my vehicles would arrive safe and they did. If I ever need car transport again I will book with Sherpa and I definitely recommend them!!”
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected and daily chats just kept saying they would update me when a carrier was selected. On January 3rd, I was told they could meet the delivery deadlines. I called several other companies only to hear the same thing, that they could not guarantee shipping times. I decided to contact Sherpa as I had received a quote from them when I began to shop for auto transporters, but now I was desperate. The agent I dealt with from Sherpa was Kate and she had solutions not excuses. Yes, I did pay for expedited service, but she got a carrier assigned the same day and saved the day! The car was picked up on January 4th in Texas and it arrived ahead of schedule in San Diego on January 7th. I also want to leave positive comments on the carrier, New Day Inc. If you are fortunate enough to get Next Day, Inc. and Sergei as the driver, you will be in good hands. He arrived on time, sent me a detailed, inspection report and emailed an electronic Bill of Lading before driving away. When the car was delivered, I received the final electronic Bill of Lading before he pulled away in San Diego. Even the personal belongings that were packed in the trunk arrived safely. The service from Sherpa, Kate and Next Day, Inc was flawless. Thank you! Karen E”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement. After getting the run around from another carrier, Sherpa really stepped in and made things easy. They were patient, explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel stupid for asking. I transported a car that was my father’s (a 1964 Porsche 356) that is very special to our family and I would trust Sherpa with it again.”
“I used Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a Jeep from Charlotte, NC to Austin, TX two weeks ago and was very pleased with their service. They were very easy to work with, kept in contact with me, followed up on any questions, picked up and delivered as scheduled, and were fairly priced. When the carrier Sherpa hired to transport my vehicle had not contact me as planned, I called Sherpa who immediately contacted the carrier, then followed up to see that the carrier had called me. At each stage of the process, Sherpa kept me up to date with emails as to the status of the transport. The driver for the carrier communicated with me on the days of pickup and delivery as to the specific time (within an hour) and location for pick-up and drop-off, as the truck was too large for some neighborhood streets. The driver also took good care loading, securing, and unloading my vehicle. I worked primarily with one contact at Sherpa for the entire process but when she wasn’t available her colleague addressed and followed up on my question quickly. I highly recommend that Sherpa Auto Transport be considered for any of your vehicle transport needs.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Allen, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
