What our State College customers say about Sherpa:
“The transport was about 2,000 miles from Pennsylvania to Arizona and it took right about three days. We met the driver at the specified location. We had a little misunderstanding because we were meeting behind the giant supermarket on Atherton. It turns out that this Atherton is a main street and State College and there’s this giant end, both ends of it.”
“The driver gave me all my landing papers and we did a walk around the car. He had to show me how to operate the vehicle because I didn’t even know how to switch gears. Sherpa did a great job. I was totally satisfied. I would use them again and not only that, I would recommend them.”
“I used Sherpa Auto Transport to get my car from Pennsylvania to California and the whole process was so easy. I was worried about choosing the right transportation service because I was looking at reviews and everything was a mixed bag. I decided to go with Sherpa and I’m really glad that I did because my driver was really nice and understanding and communicated to me throughout the process.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect State College Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from State College, PA. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel costs and driver time increase.
- Vehicle Size: Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks take up more space on the carrier, resulting in higher shipping costs compared to compact cars when transporting to or from State College.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to State College. Enclosed transport, while more expensive, offers additional protection from weather and road debris, which can be beneficial during Pennsylvania’s snowy winters.
- Time of Year: Seasonal factors affect car shipping prices in State College. Summer months and January tend to have higher rates due to increased demand. Winter weather can also impact shipping times and costs.
- Route Accessibility: State College’s location near major highways like I-80 and I-99 can help keep costs down. However, if you’re shipping to or from more remote areas of Pennsylvania, prices may increase.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship as they can be driven onto the carrier. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of auto transport to or from State College.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower car shipping costs. Expedited services for urgent transport to or from State College will increase the price.
Understanding these factors can help you plan and budget for your car shipping needs in State College, PA. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your State College car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Pick strategic locations: Discuss with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors about pickup/dropoff points near major interstates like I-99 or US-322. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the more options you’ll have for cost-effective auto transport to or from State College, PA.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer or holidays when demand for car shipping services is high. Off-peak times may offer better rates for your State College auto transport needs.

Reviews from our Pennsylvania Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Pennsylvania customers:
“Sherpa was absolutely phenomenal. I was doing the auto transport for my sister-in-law who was moving from Colorado to Pennsylvania. She`s wasn`t in the best frame of mind, so we did all of the work to get Sherpa to do this. We made the phone call in November and the car was being picked up in December. Sherpa managed to find somebody who was going to pick up the car, and they were all set up and ready to get there in December. They were booked, but that night, my sister-in-law called and said that she was getting overwhelmed and we needed to cancel. So, we cancelled, paid the cancellation fee, and it was no big deal. The following day, my sister-in-law changed her mind and we re-upped the contract. However, there was a computer glitch in the system and it didn`t back the previous company out of the contract with us, so when we re-upped, we then had two active contracts. Two companies were gonna show up at different days to try to take our car. Sherpa had no idea because the company was the one who needed to know that they were no longer supposed to be coming, and they somehow were never notified. The company showed up and got the car, but it was on a totally different day than we were told they would be coming because it was the original date. Sherpa did all of the leg work. They contacted the people and met with the driver to make sure it was legit. They also refunded the cancellation fee because technically, we got the first contract. They called us every step of the way. They went above and beyond even though the mistake was caused by us cancelling.”
“I am extremely satisfied with Sherpa Auto Transport and recommend them to all. I used them to transport my car from Bradenton, Florida to Doylestown, Pennsylvania. This was the first time I shipped my car and I couldn`t be more satisfied. They clearly explained the process to me and were friendly and professional. My car was picked up on time and delivered back to PA in 2 days. They provided timely and thorough communication throughout the entire process. I will definitely use them again.”
“I would definitely recommend Sherpa Auto Transport. Marvin, was very courteous, patient and helpful with getting me set up with a driver. I needed to transport my son’s Toyota Camry from Philadelphia, PA to Phoenix, AZ. I spoke with Marvin early in the morning, a driver reached out to me before noon the same day. The driver was very nice. He emailed me the Bill of Lading and also provided link to track my vehicle from when it was picked up to when it arrived in AZ. He delivered the vehicle earlier than expected. I will be referring them.”
“I was moving from Texas to Pennsylvania and I didn’t wanna do the drive. I looked into four companies and Sherpa gave me the most straightforward explanation of how things would work and what they would cost. They put the bid on who accepts it and I didn’t necessarily want the lowest bid to win in transporting my vehicle. It was a little scary for me in terms of I’ve never done it before so, my expectation on how it worked didn’t exist. I asked a lot of detailed questions and the customer service reps answered them all. But sometimes, there was a language barrier in terms of the person I was talking to. And it was a little hard to communicate. I got a phone call just before the pick-up time telling me when they were gonna pick up the vehicle and where to meet. And we did it. I got the same call on the reverse side to pick them up and they brought the vehicle within a five-minute walk of my house. And I picked it up.”
“A friend told us about Sherpa four years ago, and we`ve been using them ever since. They`re the broker for other shippers, and I don`t think we`ve ever gone to the same mover any time. It`s always been some new one, and they worked off the date that we needed them. We have moved cars from California to Houston a couple times, and Houston to Pennsylvania, and then Pennsylvania to California. Sherpa offers convenience, very good prices, and the service has been incredible. We`ve used them seven times, and pickup and delivery could not have been better. We just moved two cars, one out of Houston and one out of Pennsylvania. Each pickup was as simple as it could be, and the drop-off was at the house where they`re getting delivered, so we can`t complain. In Houston, I dropped the car off on Tuesday afternoon, and it was here at the house Thursday night. It was unbelievable.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in State College, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Pennsylvania. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
