Note: These figures reflect the past 12 months of Sherpa Auto Transport’s vehicle shipments to or from Wilsonville, OR. When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Wilsonville Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Wilsonville, OR significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Wilsonville. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers protection from Oregon’s varied weather conditions, including rain and occasional snow.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Wilsonville’s proximity to I-5 and Portland can make it easier and more affordable for auto transport. However, shipping to more remote areas of Oregon may increase costs.
- Seasonal Factors: Car shipping prices may fluctuate based on the time of year. Summer months and January often see higher demand and prices for auto transport services in Wilsonville and across the country.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship as they can be easily loaded onto the carrier. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of auto transport.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower car shipping costs. Expedited services for quicker transport to or from Wilsonville will increase the price.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Wilsonville, OR. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Wilsonville car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisers to find locations near major interstates like I-5 or I-205. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates potential liability issues.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of dates for pickup and delivery. The more flexible you are, the better options you’ll have for auto transport to or from Wilsonville, OR.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car during less busy times may result in lower rates.
- Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good running condition. A well-maintained vehicle is easier to load and unload, potentially speeding up the process and reducing costs.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Wilsonville?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Wilsonville
When scheduling car shipping services to or from Wilsonville, OR, it’s crucial to consider the seasonal weather patterns that can impact your auto transport experience. Wilsonville experiences a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters, which can affect car shipping in various ways.
During the winter months (November to February), Wilsonville can experience occasional snowfall and icy conditions. If you’re planning to ship a car during this time:
- Ensure your vehicle is equipped with all-season tires, as carriers cannot transport cars with snow chains.
- Choose pickup and drop-off locations on level ground to ensure the transport truck’s stability on potentially slippery surfaces.
- Remove any items from your car that could freeze and potentially damage the interior.
In contrast, summer months (June to September) in Wilsonville are generally warm and dry. When using car transport services during this season:
- Consider placing a sunshade under your windshield to protect the interior from excessive heat.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items from your vehicle to prevent melting or damage.
It’s also important to note that Wilsonville car shipping can be busier during certain times of the year. For example, with nearby Portland State University, there may be increased demand for auto transport services at the beginning and end of academic terms. To avoid potential delays or higher prices, consider scheduling your car shipping a few weeks before or after these peak periods.
By taking these seasonal factors into account, you can ensure a smoother and more efficient experience when using a car shipping company for your Wilsonville, OR auto transport needs.
Reviews from our Oregon Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Oregon customers:
“Sherpa was one of the several companies that were recommended on the site. I called five people, and Sherpa had the most congenial salesman. He also made me a guarantee right up front that it was gonna cost me a certain amount of money. They had to use their commission to pay for the driver `cause they couldn`t find somebody at the price they gave me. Sherpa was really awesome. Plus, they were very efficient. Every phase of the operation was documented and they sent me an email or a text on every phase. They also got me in touch with the driver and he made me aware of everything that was taking place at the pickup, the delivery and his transit. They were very professional. I was buying a car from a relative, and that relative took pictures of the truck. The driver also took pictures, and he delivered the truck as well as the pictures. I had two sets of pictures and the car was perfect. Everything was great, and I couldn`t ask for any better. I wrote a review for Sherpa`s website, and another one for the Better Business Bureau website also.”
“I mostly communicated with them by email and I had one phone call. Customer service handled everything great and I was very pleased. They gave me a good quote and I felt pretty confident with them. Their quote seemed to be a little bit higher compared to the other companies that I went with, but I felt I was gonna get a better situation. The quote was very accurate compared to the other ones. The transport was 1,500 miles and it took about four days to get to Oregon. It was quicker than they said it was gonna be. They brought the car right to where my son lives. They were just right down the street from his apartment. The driver that picked up the car was a little personable and he did a good job with the car overhead. He looked the car over and made sure there wasn`t anything wrong with it. He was a very nice young man. My son said the car was a little bit dirty from being on the road for that long. Otherwise, it was great. I got a really good service for the price that I paid. It was really fair. I would highly recommend Sherpa. They did a great job. They followed through with everything they said they were gonna do in a timely manner.”
“The fact that Sherpa paid to be with ConsumerAffairs was part of the selling for me. I had one gentleman who said, “We don`t need them.” They didn`t need the rating. I told him that just for his attitude, I was not gonna choose their company and thanked him for his time. It was a simple yes or no question on whether they were rated. He didn`t need to bash them. Sherpa did a great job. They sent videos of the car as did I before it left my home. They came right to my house, picked up the car in my neighborhood, and shipped it all the way to Oregon from Indiana. Everything was on time and the car was in great shape. My 23-year old son was very impressed with the whole process and he took care of it there on that end. I would recommend Sherpa if I were asked. It was about $300 more than some of the other ones. But a lot of times, companies just call drivers and I just didn`t want anybody. I wanted somebody that consistently transported with the company.”
“At that time, there were 12 feet of snow over at Tahoe on the ground. He got up to the border of Oregon and Washington, and that was the only path that he had to go through, and they had closed the paths. When they reopened the path, he had a three-wheeled trailer and a very nice tow truck but he had to have chains on the trailer but he didn`t have chains. He was held up for at least 24 to 36 hours before he got through that. Then he delivered it at 9 o`clock at night. I live rurally and there are no street lights out there. The driver was a young guy and he was exceptional. He parked in the road, which nobody came by and he got it off the trailer, and then I pulled it into my garage. It arrived perfectly, in condition.”
“My whole experience was very positive. The Sherpa drivers sounded wonderful and they were so prompt. We live across from a convenience store with a big parking lot and our street`s not narrow, but there`s a lot of cars. When the guy came to pick up my son`s car, we met him across the street so that he could load it. He then did the review, checked it out, and gave me the pink sheet. When the car was delivered, my son said the driver called him and asked him if he can meet them at the closest Home Depot, which wasn`t that far. He Ubered over there and it wasn`t a big deal. He was there waiting when the guy came.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Wilsonville, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Oregon. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
