What our Waxhaw customers say about Sherpa:
“Most transport companies are pretty much like Uber – they set up the drivers but don’t have much control over those drivers or what they do. I’ve shipped several vehicles with other companies and usually get a call that a driver needs an extra $100 from what was contracted. My expectations were low but Sherpa was awesome. Rep assured me they don’t keep drivers on their list that do what I experienced. Price is guaranteed not to change and there were no surprises there. They worked to meet my schedule needs and met them. Driver was thorough and communicated well. We won’t use anybody else moving forward.”
“I bought a Ford Mustang and got Sherpa to ship it. I had around 10 transport companies looked at then I picked Sherpa considering their reviews online. They provided me with a reasonable quote, and though it was a little higher than the other companies, there were no hidden fees so I was fine with it. The reps were very honest, and they were very thorough with all the questions that I asked and answered every one exactly how I wanted them. It was an excellent experience dealing with them.”
“My daughter moved from Oregon to North Carolina. We were overwhelmed by all the car transport services and heard several scams were out there. I was so impressed with Sherpa. I paid for the 5 day pick up and they were able to pick up her car next day. 7 days later her car arrived in perfect condition. We will be getting a $100 refund for providing Sherpa with the bill of lading and $20 towards a car wash!”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Waxhaw Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between Waxhaw, NC and your destination significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer journeys.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Waxhaw. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers additional protection for high-value vehicles against weather and road debris.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Location Accessibility: Waxhaw’s proximity to Charlotte and major highways like I-485 can help reduce costs. However, if you’re shipping to or from more rural areas, prices may increase.
- Seasonal Factors: Waxhaw’s mild climate means car shipping is generally consistent year-round. However, summer months and January often see higher demand and prices industry-wide.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lead to more competitive pricing. Rush or guaranteed delivery services will increase the cost of your auto transport.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of shipping to or from Waxhaw.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Waxhaw, NC. For more detailed information on car shipping costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your Waxhaw car shipping needs.
- Consider terminal-to-door or door-to-terminal: While not as convenient as door-to-door, these options can sometimes offer cost savings for your auto transport.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Waxhaw?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

Reviews from our North Carolina Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied North Carolina customers:
“We were in transition, moving from California to North Carolina, so we had several vehicles and one of them was an older Jeep Wrangler that I wanted to send to my son. He`s in Baltimore, Maryland. So, it’s from San Diego to Baltimore, Maryland. Our plans were very fluid early in the summer so originally, we arranged with Sherpa to send the vehicle to North Carolina in May. That changed because we figured out that we needed the vehicle in California through the summer. So, I contacted Sherpa and put it on hold until September. They were good to work with. They put it on hold like I requested and followed up several times to make sure things were still on track and to get good timing. Once our plans were firmed up, I was able to reach back out to them and we arranged the transport very quickly. We were living on our boat this summer and the guy came one night. I explained that to him and that we were with the Jeep. This was on the day of the pickup and I told him there was no rush. Any time that night was fine and he could just text me and let me know when he was there and I would meet him out front. And that’s exactly what happened. It was great. We looked over the vehicle and he did probably as good of a job as I did in terms of documenting the condition of the vehicle. Then he was good to go. I didn`t need to watch him load it onto his truck. He did that and I went back down to the boat. It all hinged on communication and it was very good.”
“Sherpa shipped my dad`s `66 Mustang from California to North Carolina. Picked it up on time, the fifth day. They said there`s a five-day window. They picked it up on the fifth day, which I was happy about. It didn`t ship out until much later, which I was a little worried about. But it seemed okay and it got delivered just fine and in great condition. The communication with the driver was also fine. He texted us and told us he was nearby. He also texted us and told us when he was leaving California. They did a good job. Everyone was friendly. However, they could be a little bit better between the time they picked it up, the time after they left California and let me know when it was gonna come out. But, it was over the holidays and I told them there was no rush. Other than that, everything else was smooth.”
“When Sherpa put the bid out, they said they would double or add to the bid if it wasn’t being picked up. So that seemed a little different than the other companies. Setting up the transport was relatively easy. Because I researched other products, I knew the questions to ask, things I couldn`t find online. So, all my questions were answered. The experience was positive. Because of the challenges of where I was located, on the day of the pickup, I met the driver. It was relatively close and in an open parking lot, where I felt safe. So, it wasn`t an issue. The driver did a walk around, pointing out any dings that were already there. And I was there with him as he did it. I also took a video of myself prior to him showing up, just to have that on record. The transport took six days from Washington state to North Carolina. The lowest Sherpa said was four days and the most was nine days. The driver contacted me closer to the day to get a better location for where the large truck would be able to go.”
“I needed my car shipped temporarily to North Carolina. It looked like there was some good stuff about Sherpa, so I called and it worked out. Setting up the transport was really easy. My niece was receiving the car in North Carolina and I had to ship that check to her. I got quick responses. They said no, “Just drop off the state at the end of the check.” When the guy picked up my vehicle at my house, it was odd because he just walked up and I didn`t see anything. He had parked right on the side road and I saw it. My husband and I were like, “Oh, okay. He showed up.” He took very detailed pictures. So, it was perfect. The car got from point A to point B with no issues.”
“This is the 4th year using Sherpa and I could not be happier with them. They provide a 5-day pick-up date but I have yet to wait the whole 5 days. Last Sunday I called to get a quote, and by Tuesday, the car was picked up and by Thursday my son`s car shipped from NC to RI! They are quick to get shipments completed and their communication throughout the whole process is incredible. The drivers are also awesome, I was constantly getting updates from them. Don`t be fooled by other transportation companies, they will give you an estimate a lot lower but will result in a horrible experience. Do yourself a favor and don`t bother with the other companies, Sherpa is honestly the best for your transportation needs.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Waxhaw, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of North Carolina. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
