What our Havelock customers say about Sherpa:
“The experience with Sherpa Auto Transport was seamless and the price was fair. I picked the transport company based on their D&B. It was a local transport firm in Charlotte. We live on close to a waterway, south of the Cape Fear River, which is Wilmington, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.”
“I was a bit nervous purchasing a car in California sight unseen and having it transported to North Carolina. I connected with Sherpa on-line to receive a quote and timing. I was pleasantly surprised to not only receive the quote in email but a phone call to review the quote and details.”
“I had a positive experience with Sherpa. If you are using a transport company please go into it knowing that it is a very aggressive industry. To get a quote you are required to provide your phone number and the various brokers, including Sherpa, will call and/or repeatedly until you tell them you’ve gone with someone else.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Havelock Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Havelock, NC. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as they require more fuel and time.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to Havelock. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection from weather and road debris. This is particularly relevant in Havelock’s humid subtropical climate, especially during hurricane season.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Havelock’s proximity to major highways like US-70 can affect pricing. Easy access to main routes often results in lower shipping costs.
- Seasonality: Car shipping prices to Havelock may fluctuate based on the time of year. Summer months and January tend to see higher rates due to increased demand.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Urban areas are generally cheaper for car shipping than rural locations. Havelock’s suburban setting might influence costs compared to larger cities.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are less expensive to ship than inoperable ones, as they don’t require special equipment for loading and unloading.
- Flexibility: More flexible pickup and delivery dates can lead to better rates when shipping a car to or from Havelock, NC.
Understanding these factors can help you estimate your car shipping costs more accurately. For a detailed breakdown of pricing factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Havelock car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates on your car transport from Havelock, NC. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major highways like US-70 or NC-101. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall car shipping price.
- Lighten your load: Remove personal items from your vehicle before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during auto transport.
- Stay flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can help you secure better rates. Consider various locations around Havelock, such as nearby Jacksonville or New Bern, for potential cost savings on your car shipping services.
- Consider off-peak seasons: If possible, schedule your auto transport during less busy times of the year. This can often result in more competitive pricing for shipping a car to or from Havelock, NC.

Havelock, North Carolina Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Havelock?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Havelock. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Havelock?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Havelock?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Havelock?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?

Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. What types of vehicles can you transport?

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Havelock
When planning car shipping to or from Havelock, NC, it’s crucial to consider the seasonal weather and climate factors that can impact your auto transport experience. Havelock experiences a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters. Here are some practical tips to ensure a smooth car shipping process:
- Summer Considerations: Havelock’s summers can be hot and humid. When shipping your car during this season, consider placing a sunshade under the windshield to protect the interior. Also, remove any heat-sensitive items from the vehicle to prevent melting or damage.
- Winter Precautions: While winters are generally mild, occasional freezing temperatures and light snow can occur. If your car has snow tires, inform the car shipping company in advance. Remember, carriers can’t transport vehicles with snow chains.
- Hurricane Season: Havelock’s proximity to the coast makes it vulnerable to hurricanes from June to November. If you’re shipping a car during this period, stay informed about weather forecasts and be prepared for potential delays.
- Military Considerations: With Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point nearby, be aware of increased demand for car transport services during military relocations, typically in summer and early fall.

- Seasonal Demand: Summer tends to be the busiest season for car shipping in Havelock. If possible, consider scheduling your auto transport during off-peak months for potentially lower rates and more flexible scheduling.
By keeping these factors in mind, you can ensure a smoother and more efficient car shipping experience to or from Havelock, NC. Always communicate with your chosen car shipping company about any specific concerns or requirements related to seasonal factors to guarantee the best possible service for your auto transport needs.

Reviews from our North Carolina Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied North Carolina customers:
“When Sherpa put the bid out, they said they would double or add to the bid if it wasn’t being picked up. So that seemed a little different than the other companies. Setting up the transport was relatively easy. Because I researched other products, I knew the questions to ask, things I couldn`t find online. So, all my questions were answered. The experience was positive. Because of the challenges of where I was located, on the day of the pickup, I met the driver. It was relatively close and in an open parking lot, where I felt safe. So, it wasn`t an issue. The driver did a walk around, pointing out any dings that were already there. And I was there with him as he did it. I also took a video of myself prior to him showing up, just to have that on record. The transport took six days from Washington state to North Carolina. The lowest Sherpa said was four days and the most was nine days. The driver contacted me closer to the day to get a better location for where the large truck would be able to go.”
“Upfront guaranteed delivery. Great communication. Guaranteed pickup in 4 day pickup window. Here is why you should go with Sherpa. My vehicle was picked up on a Tuesday in North Carolina and delivered at my driveway on Thursday to Colorado. 1700 miles in two days, no issues with the vehicle at all. (High Line Transport) was the driver. He kept great communication from pickup to dropoff. Sherpa made me feel comfortable explaining the process in detail, I why I should go with them instead of the other companies. I am glad I listened. Saved a lot of trouble vetting other companies.”
“Used Sherpa to ship my son’s car from North Carolina to Seattle. They had a four day window to schedule a pick pick up. They did an exceptional work locating a carrier and emphasizing that the car must be picked up by a certain date. They kept me well informed about the progress. Mike from Sherpa called and emailed multiple times a day with updates. The car was picked up and delivered in less than a week. The carrier Diesel Auto Express were awesome as well. This was a great and smooth experience, they even pay to have your car washed. Highly recommend Sherpa.”
“You can`t go wrong with Sherpa! I admit that I initially placed an order with a different company — two companies actually. Neither could find a driver to transport my brand new Genesis GV70 from NC to NV in an enclosed trailer. I even paid the first company in full, and six days later they hadn`t even tried to find a driver. So eight days after buying a car in NC, I called Sherpa. The Sherpa rep explained the process of basically bidding for a space on a truck, and put me on hold while she looked up the current rate. To put it simply, with a low ball rate, the car is going to sit there. A more competitive rate will get it picked up quicker. I asked her point blank how quickly she thought she could find a driver. She said there was a 96% chance of picking up the car within 4 days. Because I placed the order before noon EDST, she was able to get the order posted that same day. Mind you, this was two days before the July 4th weekend, during a pandemic. Just over 24 hours later I received a call from Mavistar who had accepted the order. And 24 hours after that I received a personal text from the Mavistar driver who confirmed he had picked up my car and would be updating me on his progress as he drove across the country. This driver was AWESOME. He texted or called me every night and updated me on his ETA. Six days after I placed my order, my car was sitting in my driveway in pristine condition. You get what you pay for. If you want budget-level customer service, go with a different company. Sherpa prides itself on doing business the right way, and that they did! I couldn`t be happier with them.”
“This is the 4th year using Sherpa and I could not be happier with them. They provide a 5-day pick-up date but I have yet to wait the whole 5 days. Last Sunday I called to get a quote, and by Tuesday, the car was picked up and by Thursday my son`s car shipped from NC to RI! They are quick to get shipments completed and their communication throughout the whole process is incredible. The drivers are also awesome, I was constantly getting updates from them. Don`t be fooled by other transportation companies, they will give you an estimate a lot lower but will result in a horrible experience. Do yourself a favor and don`t bother with the other companies, Sherpa is honestly the best for your transportation needs.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Havelock, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of North Carolina. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
