What our Yonkers customers say about Sherpa:
“They weren’t cheaper, but they explained to me how the brokerage service worked. If they had a price that sounded too good to be true, it would likely be hiked up. I liked that Sherpa had the estimate upfront. The reps were also knowledgeable. The call with each customer service rep was okay in the beginning. The problem was that I could never get back in touch with the original representative, even though they would give me their extension.”
“We needed a transport service to transport my daughter`s car to her college. Sherpa charged a couple hundred dollars more than the other place I checked but told me they can get the car there in time so that`s why I went with them. But our experience with the driver was not the best. He couldn`t locate our address to pick up the car and they said that the road that they found were only allowing cars, not trucks in it.”
“I called Sherpa Auto Transport and I got somebody. It was a person who spoke English. That made me happy because I felt we were communicating. And we had a discussion. He told me how it all worked and how much it would cost. We talked about dates. And somehow they got back to me. They set it up. It was very smooth. They told me there would be a driver. Somebody said he would call. I got anxious about the whole thing. Because I`m in the middle of Manhattan.”

Factors that affect Yonkers Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Yonkers, NY. Longer distances typically result in higher prices, but the per-mile rate often decreases for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to Yonkers. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection for high-value or classic cars against Yonkers’ varied weather conditions.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, generally cost more to ship to Yonkers due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Season: Auto transport to Yonkers may be pricier during peak moving seasons, typically summer months and January. Winter weather in Yonkers can also affect shipping rates and timelines.
- Route: Yonkers’ proximity to major highways like I-87 and I-95 can make it more accessible and potentially reduce shipping costs compared to more remote locations.
- Fuel Prices: Fluctuations in fuel costs can impact the overall price of car shipping services to and from Yonkers.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship to Yonkers as they require special equipment for loading and unloading.
- Timing: Flexible pickup and delivery dates can often result in lower car shipping costs to Yonkers. Rush or guaranteed delivery services typically come at a premium.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from Yonkers, NY.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisers to find locations near major interstates like I-87 or I-95. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates can lead to better pricing options. Consider various locations around Yonkers, such as nearby New Rochelle or White Plains, for potential cost savings.

- Get an instant quote: Start by obtaining a free online quote from a reputable auto transport company. This will give you an idea of the cost based on factors like your vehicle type, pickup and delivery locations, and preferred shipping method.
- Book your shipment: Once you’re satisfied with the quote, lock in your car transport service. Remember, nothing is typically due upfront when booking.
- Prepare your vehicle: Before the pickup date, wash your car thoroughly and document any existing damage. Remove personal items and ensure your vehicle is in good working condition. Yonkers, New York Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Yonkers?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Yonkers. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Yonkers?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Yonkers?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Yonkers?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.
Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.

Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“I live in Georgia and bought a car at a New York State. I had hired a transport company to start with and they weren’t getting anything done after about nine days. So, I was doing some research online and got some good feedback about Sherpa. They were mostly Americans. Most of the people I was dealing with that other company were not and they could barely understand them talking on the phone. I called the representative with Sherpa and they were easy to talk to and deal with. They understood my dilemma and they had me a driver in three days. The price was what they told me. I paid $450 more than I’d do with the previous company that I hired and fired but it was worth it. From what I understood, that was about what it was gonna cost anyway to get the car delivered. I did some research and was asking questions on a trucker transport forum. They were all saying that the price that I was given wouldn’t get anybody to bring the car to me. They said if I’d pay for the transport in the 1,400 to 1,500 bucks, I’d get it. And that was what I did. I ended up paying 1,500. But the driver that Sherpa had hired was professional, excellent, very helpful and very polite. He was top-notch. I would use that guy again. Even after he got the car off the trailer, he was helping me with the car. The reps from Sherpa were fantastic. I talked to two different guys and they were top-notch. They were very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They said that even if they needed to up the amount of money paid to the driver, they would lower their cost to the company in order to get the car to me. I’m very pleased with them. The condition of the vehicles is what it was when it left. There was no damage. Overall, the experience was great and I was very pleased with their service from Sherpa.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn’t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can’t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you’re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son’s first car while he’s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”
“I needed to transport a 2014 Ford Focus for my son. I checked out Sherpa, and I liked the enthusiasm, eagerness and sincerity projected by the customer service representative whom I spoke to. She was extremely motivated to help me whereas the other company whom I spoke with acted like it was just his job and that he had to do things. Sherpa’s rep is a keeper. She was extremely knowledgeable as well. I asked her for how long they have been in business, who owned Sherpa and whether they were connected to the Better Business Bureau. She had mentioned to me that they had not received that rating because they have not been in business long enough to see. Even so, the rep spoke very highly of the company and told me how that the owner had bad experiences in the past and that he had to use transport services for vintage or antique vehicles. The owner figured that something needed to be done about the transport system so he decided to start his own company. She called me back when I asked her to call me because a couple of times I wanted to reach out to my brother to get a feel. That time, I was in-between babysitting and she was very patient. She was never bothered by the fact that I had a reason or an excuse. She told me that she would call whenever I wanted her to call back. I had the Focus transported a little over 2,000 miles to Arizona through them. My brother was the one paying for the move and I had to get a quote that was reasonable. I compared prices and though Sherpa’s cost was a little more than what other companies were charging, we got what we paid for. The customer service of Sherpa was outstanding and that’s what sold my brother.”
“Resolution response: Aug. 24, 2019 Their customer support department is excellent. They addressed my concerns in a very professional manner. My car reached the final destination without any issues or concerns. There was no delay or any unexpected changes to the schedule. I do not have any complaints with Sherpa Auto Transport. They used an auto transport company called Umbrella Auto transport. The driver Khurshed was extremely unprofessional and rude/threatening. I was getting better rates than Sherpa from several other companies but I chose them because of their claim of “highly vetted drivers”. That is absolutely false. This driver was anything but “highly vetted”. In addition, several dried dust patches were marked as “Dents” at the time of vehicle pickup. When I rubbed off a couple of them and showed it to the driver, he got angry and aggressive towards me. Those “dents” were not documented by size and all sides of my brand new car was documented as having “dents”. Clever way to avoid any liability if the vehicle gets damaged during the transport. While Sherpa’s customer support was very good, I am very unhappy with the car transport process. My vehicle wasn’t damaged, but I paid them more money only to be treated poorly by their hired driver and with false documentation of “dents” just to save themselves from liability if the vehicle is dented during the transport. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this company to anyone.”
“We are moving out of state from New York to Tennessee, and we had vehicles to ship. We used Sherpa Auto Transport because of the positive reviews. The customer service reps at Sherpa were diligent. I didn’t hear much from the beginning to shipping because there was a few weeks in between. So, I had gotten a little nervous. I called myself and they reassured me that once everything got closer, I would hear from them, and I did. And they contacted via email. Once I had a driver, it was a lot easier to get information. Moreover, the quote that they provided was fair. And what I paid was almost exact. The driver picked up on a Friday and I got it on Thursday morning, so the transport took about a week. But the driver did have a problem with his own transport vehicle, so it was delayed overnight, which wasn’t a problem because it was local. He was already in Nashville, Tennessee and had told me what was going on and sent pictures of everything that was going on, just assuring me that the car was safe. I was very happy with the service. I would consider using them again if I had to. I’m hoping I don’t have to because a big move like that is a lot of work, but I would definitely recommend their name to anybody who is interested or needed a car transport.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Yonkers, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
