What our White Plains customers say about Sherpa:
“I was moving from our home in New York to our other home in Palm Desert, California and I needed to get my Toyota Avalon transported. I had Sherpa Auto Transport do it as their responses were very professional and they appeared anxious to please. Their quote was competitive and firm as well. Their customer service representatives answered any question that I had and they communicated with me through the pickup and delivery of the vehicle. The whole transport took seven days and the delivery of the vehicle went smoothly. The driver had good communication skills – he called us before he arrived and gave us an estimated arrival time, which was very close to the actual arrival time. The car came in good condition and I paid exactly what I was quoted.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn’t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can’t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you’re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son’s first car while he’s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”
“This past Labor Day weekend, my wife and I used Sherpa and one of their contract carriers, Morganite Auto Transport, to ship a car from our home in the Tampa area to our son in upstate New York. We decided to go with Sherpa only after doing a considerable amount of research on auto transport brokers available in our area. And we’re so glad we chose Sherpa – it was an excellent choice! The whole process, from our initial contact with Sherpa through delivery of the car by Morganite, went off without the slightest hitch. In fact, the car was able to be picked up sooner and delivered earlier than we had expected when we began planning to ship the car.”

Factors that affect White Plains Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: White Plains’ location in Westchester County, NY, affects shipping costs. Transporting a car to or from nearby cities like New York City or Hartford is generally less expensive than shipping to or from more distant locations.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to White Plains. Enclosed transport, while about 50% pricier, offers extra protection from harsh Northeast weather conditions and is ideal for luxury or classic cars.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: White Plains’ urban setting makes it more accessible for auto transport. However, if you’re shipping from a rural area to White Plains, consider meeting the carrier in a nearby city to potentially reduce costs.
- Seasonal Factors: White Plains experiences all four seasons, which can impact car shipping prices. Winter snow and ice may increase costs due to challenging road conditions, while summer tends to be peak season for auto transport, potentially raising prices.
- Vehicle Size and Condition: Larger vehicles or those with low ground clearance may cost more to ship to White Plains. Additionally, inoperable vehicles require special equipment, increasing the overall shipping cost.
- Timing and Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive pricing for your White Plains car shipment. Rush or guaranteed delivery dates typically come at a premium.
- Route Accessibility: White Plains’ proximity to major highways like I-287 and I-95 can positively influence shipping costs, as these routes are frequently traveled by auto transport carriers.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from White Plains, NY. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your White Plains car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping is generally more affordable than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower rates, especially for standard vehicles.
- Select convenient locations: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find pickup and drop-off points near major highways like I-287 or I-684. This can reduce fuel costs and potentially lower your auto transport price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item safety during transport.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your car shipping service. Consider weekday transport, which may be less expensive than weekend options.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car to or from White Plains during off-peak times may result in lower costs due to reduced demand.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from White Plains?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“I called Sherpa Auto Transport and I got somebody. It was a person who spoke English. That made me happy because I felt we were communicating. And we had a discussion. He told me how it all worked and how much it would cost. We talked about dates. And somehow they got back to me. They set it up. It was very smooth. They told me there would be a driver. Somebody said he would call. I got anxious about the whole thing. Because I`m in the middle of Manhattan. My car is in a garage. I can drive it where they need to. But how would I do it in the middle of Manhattan? The driver called me up and said, “I`ll be there in the blah, blah, minutes”. And I went over to the garage and got the car. And I thought, “What am I going to do? I`m going to have to park it somewhere. And then I`m gonna find a parking space.’ It ended up being nothing at all. So, I waited on 55th Street. Second Avenue goes from one end of Manhattan all the way down to the other end. It goes from north to south. And he said, “I`ll meet you at 54th in a second. I`ll have my transport there.” I drove over there. And there he was with the transport. He got out. And we looked at the car. We had a chit-chat about it. And he said, “All right. See you later.” He got in the car. Drove it on the transport. I turned around, took a picture of it and left. The driver was a sweetheart. He picked the car up on a Friday. And it was delivered on a Tuesday. Whoever did it in Texas was a different person than I talked to, who was the ultimate driver. He called her a half an hour. He said he was 10 miles out. But she didn`t answer the phone. So, the driver called me. And I called her. And he called her. She lives in Austin, Texas. She lives more out in the suburbs. And she said, he didn`t want to bring it on her street because there were too many trees. She said, “I just jogged over to the, you know. It wasn`t very far.” She sent me a thing and said, “There`s this little ding here.” I said, “Oh, that`s an old one.” There was nothing. And he gave her the keys. She signed it, she gave him the check, and that was that. It was very smooth. They had their stuff together. The car got there in no time. Sherpa was great. Everybody was professional. I would recommend them.”
“Sherpa has a provision where if they cannot get your vehicle picked up for the amount of money that they quoted you, they are going to pay up to a certain amount more without charging you that. I used the service one time, and it was totally trouble-free. I used it the second time, and it was perfect. I`ve used these people now three times and they`re good. They know the product. They explain to you. Everything is also electronic. You are receiving some of the forms electronically, and you sign via email. Then you get a couple of text messages. If I have to move my car back to New York, I would call them. Twice, I was unable to be personally available to pick up the vehicle. I had to give them a different address to deliver the vehicle which was my friend`s house. They worked very well with me. It was also interesting that I got from them an email with a coupon saying in case my vehicle had any dust or dirt from the transportation, I can use the coupon for a free wash for my car.”
“I bought a car in New York – I`m in Illinois! Yikes! So, I had to get it home. I picked Sherpa because my wife had heard fellow travel nurses who`d used them for transporting their travel trailers. They seemed reasonable and professional. They didn`t fail me! Got my car from New York to Illinois in less than a week! Got a $50 rebate for booking online. Got a $20 car wash reimbursed when it arrived as well. My only critique was the company they found to drive it here. The driver had a less than pleasant personality, was not going to give me any paperwork at the time of delivery until I asked for it. “Oh, you want a bill of laden? I guess I can fill one out for you.” Other than that, a seamless experience!”
“A human answered the phone when I called Sherpa and they were nice to me. They were easy to talk to and communicate with. Some of the other companies were making some promises that couldn`t necessarily be kept. But Sherpa was the kind who would say those things, but they`re not going to make that promise unless they can actually do it. I set the transport up for mother-in-law and although everything was totally smooth and everything got delivered faster than expected, in perfect condition and was totally satisfied, the drivers who showed up didn`t speak any English at all. So, there was a little bit of a communication barrier there, but they worked through it. The cost was exactly what I expected. It was all completely transparent.”
“These guys at Sherpa will take care of you. Every time I called a competitor, I would be placed on hold for several minutes before being out through to some call center in India. NOT AT SHERPA! When I call Sherpa, they answer right away AND they all speak English. The guy I was talking to was from Long Island and knew exactly where my car was. Did I mention they are very competitive with their pricing? They matched a competitor`s quote and made the deal happen. What more can you ask for? Give these guys your business. You know the $ is going to a hardworking American citizens. USA BABY!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in White Plains, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
