What our Rye customers say about Sherpa:
“This is the second time using Sherpa to transport a car from coast to coast. It was very easy and my car arrived on time and in excellent condition. I would use them again and recommend to others! Thank you, Sherpa!”
“I called Sherpa Auto Transport and I got somebody. It was a person who spoke English. That made me happy because I felt we were communicating. And we had a discussion. He told me how it all worked and how much it would cost. We talked about dates. And somehow they got back to me. They set it up. It was very smooth. They told me there would be a driver. Somebody said he would call. I got anxious about the whole thing. Because I`m in the middle of Manhattan. My car is in a garage. I can drive it where they need to. But how would I do it in the middle of Manhattan?”
“I bought a car in New York – I`m in Illinois! Yikes! So, I had to get it home. I picked Sherpa because my wife had heard fellow travel nurses who`d used them for transporting their travel trailers. They seemed reasonable and professional. They didn`t fail me! Got my car from New York to Illinois in less than a week! Got a $50 rebate for booking online. Got a $20 car wash reimbursed when it arrived as well.”

Factors that affect Rye Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Rye, NY significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Rye, NY. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection for high-value vehicles against Rye’s varying weather conditions.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship to or from Rye due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Rye’s proximity to major highways like I-95 and I-287 can help reduce costs. However, navigating narrow local roads in Rye might require smaller trucks, potentially affecting pricing.
- Seasonal Factors: Auto transport demand in Rye often peaks during summer and early fall, potentially leading to higher prices. Winter weather conditions in Rye can also impact shipping costs and timelines.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Non-running cars require special equipment for loading, increasing the cost of car shipping services to or from Rye.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Door-to-door service in Rye might be more expensive than terminal-to-terminal options, especially given Rye’s suburban layout.
Understanding these factors can help you better estimate the cost of shipping a car to or from Rye, NY. For more detailed information on pricing factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Rye car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling vehicles from the same area.
- Choose open transport: Open shipping is generally more cost-effective than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower prices while still providing reliable car shipping services.
- Optimize pickup/dropoff locations: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like I-95 or I-287. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall auto transport expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates potential liability issues for the car shipping company.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your car transport. Consider weekday shipping, as weekend services may be more expensive.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer or holidays when shipping a car to or from Rye, NY. Off-peak times often offer more competitive pricing for auto transport services.

Rye, New York Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Rye?

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Rye?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Rye?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Rye?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“I had a good experience with Sherpa. They picked the cars up when they said they would and they delivered them when they said they would. I had two cars and they put the cars on the carrier and, 19 hours later, they were in my garage. It was good service.”
“I live in Georgia and bought a car at a New York State. I had hired a transport company to start with and they weren`t getting anything done after about nine days. So, I was doing some research online and got some good feedback about Sherpa. They were mostly Americans. Most of the people I was dealing with that other company were not and they could barely understand them talking on the phone. I called the representative with Sherpa and they were easy to talk to and deal with. They understood my dilemma and they had me a driver in three days. The price was what they told me. I paid $450 more than I’d do with the previous company that I hired and fired but it was worth it. From what I understood, that was about what it was gonna cost anyway to get the car delivered. I did some research and was asking questions on a trucker transport forum. They were all saying that the price that I was given wouldn`t get anybody to bring the car to me. They said if I`d pay for the transport in the 1,400 to 1,500 bucks, I`d get it. And that was what I did. I ended up paying 1,500. But the driver that Sherpa had hired was professional, excellent, very helpful and very polite. He was top-notch. I would use that guy again. Even after he got the car off the trailer, he was helping me with the car. The reps from Sherpa were fantastic. I talked to two different guys and they were top-notch. They were very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They said that even if they needed to up the amount of money paid to the driver, they would lower their cost to the company in order to get the car to me. I`m very pleased with them. The condition of the vehicles is what it was when it left. There was no damage. Overall, the experience was great and I was very pleased with their service from Sherpa.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn`t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can`t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you`re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son`s first car while he`s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”
“The price that Sherpa quoted me was a good bit cheaper. I used their service to transport a 2017 Honda Accent from New York to Texas. Customer service was really good. They had a weight limit when it came to transporting stuff in the car. That was the main thing and they wanted everything to be out of the sight line of the cabin. Nothing should be visible. Also, there would be no important personal belongings for safety reasons. The driver gave me a call and then he started texting me so he was pretty available for communication throughout the whole process. But to pick up the car, he asked me about the the driveway situation and how much space he had. Because he had a full-size truck, he said he would like to meet at a grocery store just down the street from where I am. We met at a Walmart parking lot and he took some pictures of the car. He asked if there were any questions and then loaded the vehicle up on the car. Nothing was wrong with the vehicle when we received it. Sherpa was a great value. I got what I needed to get done for a price that was competitive with the market. It definitely beats driving the car down myself.”
“I got four quotes and they were all within about $100 of each other. Sherpa`s price was in line with the market, and up to 100 pounds of my personal items could be stored in the vehicle. It just had to be below the window line, so it could be in the trunk or the back seat. Setting up the transport was easy. The reps were always available. I called three or four times with different questions, and they always answered them. They did a good job. Since I`ve never done a transport before, I didn`t know what to expect, but Sherpa was a lot faster and more efficient than I was expecting. The same person picked up and delivered my Jeep Renegade. Sherpa quoted me five days, but from when the driver picked it up, he got it to Upstate New York in two days. He arrived ahead of schedule, so it was good. The car was dropped off at a coworker`s house while we were moving, so it was not an issue, and the driver knew somebody else was gonna be signing for it. That was all communicated ahead of time. My coworker said the guy was really nice, and they did the inspection of the car together.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Rye, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
