What our Niagara Falls customers say about Sherpa:
“I had the best experience setting up the transport with Sherpa. The car was picked-up in Buffalo, New York on a Saturday and I got it in Boynton Beach, Florida on a Monday. The communication was amazing. My husband was there for the delivery and everything was exactly how it was described to me. The car was given to me in perfect condition.”
“I live in Georgia and bought a car at a New York State. I called the representative with Sherpa and they were easy to talk to and deal with. When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Niagara Falls Car Shipping Prices
- Distance and Route: The distance between pickup and delivery locations significantly impacts car shipping costs to and from Niagara Falls, NY. Routes along major highways like I-90 and I-190 are generally more cost-effective due to easier access for carriers.
- Seasonal Factors: Niagara Falls experiences harsh winters with heavy snowfall, which can affect car shipping prices. Summer months, particularly July and August, may see higher rates due to increased tourism and demand for auto transport services.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your vehicle influence shipping costs. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks may cost more to transport than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open car transport is the most common and affordable option for shipping to or from Niagara Falls. Enclosed transport, while more expensive, offers additional protection and may be preferred for luxury or classic cars, especially during winter months.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Urban areas in and around Niagara Falls are typically more accessible and cost-effective for car shipping compared to rural locations. Consider meeting the carrier at a convenient location if you’re in a less accessible area.
- Timing and Flexibility: Being flexible with your pickup and delivery dates can often result in lower car shipping costs. Peak tourist seasons in Niagara Falls may affect availability and pricing.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and less expensive to ship. If your car isn’t running, inform the auto transport company as it may require special equipment for loading and unloading.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Niagara Falls car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundled pickups in the area.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates and greatest flexibility in negotiating prices for your Niagara Falls auto transport.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-190 or I-90. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues during the car transport process.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of dates for pickup and delivery. Consider alternative locations slightly outside Niagara Falls, NY, such as Buffalo or Lockport, which may provide more cost-effective options for your car shipping needs.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, schedule your auto transport during off-peak seasons. Avoiding summer months and holidays can lead to better availability and potentially lower rates for shipping a car to or from Niagara Falls.

How does Niagara Falls Car Shipping Work?
Navigating the car shipping process to or from Niagara Falls, NY requires careful planning, especially considering the region’s unique climate and geography. Here are key steps to ensure a smooth auto transport experience:
- Get an instant quote: Start by obtaining a free online quote from a reputable car shipping company. Provide details like your vehicle’s make and model, pickup and delivery locations, and preferred shipping method.
- Book your shipment: Once you’re satisfied with the quote, lock in your auto transport. Remember, nothing is due upfront with Sherpa Auto Transport.
- Prepare your vehicle: Given Niagara Falls’ harsh winters, thoroughly clean your car to spot any existing damage. Remove personal items and ensure your vehicle is in good working condition. Pro tip: In winter, consider using winter-grade antifreeze to prevent freezing during transport.
- Choose the right shipping method: For valuable or classic cars, enclosed transport offers extra protection from Niagara’s sometimes extreme weather. Open transport is a more economical option for standard vehicles.
- Plan for potential weather delays: Niagara Falls can experience severe snowstorms, especially near the Great Lakes. Build some flexibility into your schedule to account for possible weather-related delays.
- Consider terminal-to-terminal shipping: While door-to-door service is convenient, terminal-to-terminal shipping to locations near major highways like I-190 or I-290 can sometimes be more cost-effective.
- Meet the carrier and inspect your vehicle: At pickup and delivery, thoroughly inspect your car and document its condition. In winter, check for any ice or snow accumulation that might mask damage.
By following these steps and working with a reliable car shipping company, you can ensure your vehicle arrives safely in the beautiful Niagara Falls region. For more detailed information on how to ship a car, check out our comprehensive guide.

Niagara Falls, New York Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Niagara Falls?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Niagara Falls. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Niagara Falls?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Niagara Falls?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Niagara Falls?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.
Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Niagara Falls
When planning car shipping to or from Niagara Falls, NY, it’s crucial to consider the seasonal weather patterns that can affect your auto transport experience. Niagara Falls experiences all four seasons, each with its unique challenges for car shipping services.
In winter, Niagara Falls car shipping can be tricky due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions. If you’re shipping a car during this time:
- Remove snow tires or chains before transport, as carriers can’t ship vehicles with these.
- Ensure pickup and drop-off locations are on level ground to prevent slipping.
- Avoid storing items that may freeze and expand in your vehicle.
Spring and fall are ideal times for car transport in Niagara Falls, with milder weather. However, be aware of occasional rain and wind. Summer can bring heat waves, so if you’re shipping a car during this season:
- Place a sunshade in your car to protect the interior.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items from the vehicle.
When choosing a car shipping company for Niagara Falls, NY, consider these seasonal factors:
- Tourist season peaks in summer, potentially affecting auto transport schedules and rates.
- College move-in and move-out periods (typically late August and early May) can increase demand for car shipping services.
- Winter weather may cause delays, so plan accordingly when shipping a car during colder months.
By keeping these seasonal considerations in mind, you can ensure a smoother car shipping experience to or from Niagara Falls, NY. Always communicate with your chosen auto transport provider about any specific concerns related to the time of year you’re planning to ship your car.
Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“I called Sherpa Auto Transport and I got somebody. It was a person who spoke English. That made me happy because I felt we were communicating. And we had a discussion. He told me how it all worked and how much it would cost. We talked about dates. And somehow they got back to me. They set it up. It was very smooth. They told me there would be a driver. Somebody said he would call. I got anxious about the whole thing. Because I`m in the middle of Manhattan. My car is in a garage. I can drive it where they need to. But how would I do it in the middle of Manhattan? The driver called me up and said, “I`ll be there in the blah, blah, minutes”. And I went over to the garage and got the car. And I thought, “What am I going to do? I`m going to have to park it somewhere. And then I`m gonna find a parking space.†It ended up being nothing at all. So, I waited on 55th Street. Second Avenue goes from one end of Manhattan all the way down to the other end. It goes from north to south. And he said, “I`ll meet you at 54th in a second. I`ll have my transport there.” I drove over there. And there he was with the transport. He got out. And we looked at the car. We had a chit-chat about it. And he said, “All right. See you later.” He got in the car. Drove it on the transport. I turned around, took a picture of it and left. The driver was a sweetheart. He picked the car up on a Friday. And it was delivered on a Tuesday. Whoever did it in Texas was a different person than I talked to, who was the ultimate driver. He called her a half an hour. He said he was 10 miles out. But she didn`t answer the phone. So, the driver called me. And I called her. And he called her. She lives in Austin, Texas. She lives more out in the suburbs. And she said, he didn`t want to bring it on her street because there were too many trees. She said, “I just jogged over to the, you know. It wasn`t very far.” She sent me a thing and said, “There`s this little ding here.” I said, “Oh, that`s an old one.” There was nothing. And he gave her the keys. She signed it, she gave him the check, and that was that. It was very smooth. They had their stuff together. The car got there in no time. Sherpa was great. Everybody was professional. I would recommend them.”
“Sherpa has a provision where if they cannot get your vehicle picked up for the amount of money that they quoted you, they are going to pay up to a certain amount more without charging you that. I used the service one time, and it was totally trouble-free. I used it the second time, and it was perfect. I`ve used these people now three times and they`re good. They know the product. They explain to you. Everything is also electronic. You are receiving some of the forms electronically, and you sign via email. Then you get a couple of text messages. If I have to move my car back to New York, I would call them. Twice, I was unable to be personally available to pick up the vehicle. I had to give them a different address to deliver the vehicle which was my friend`s house. They worked very well with me. It was also interesting that I got from them an email with a coupon saying in case my vehicle had any dust or dirt from the transportation, I can use the coupon for a free wash for my car.”
“Sherpa Auto Transport`s price was comparable, but their customer service was great. The reps were very polite, friendly, and tried to work with me the best they could. The price lock was a nice feature. And at the time, if I booked, I got a $100 rebate, which was another nice feature. The only thing I didn`t like was there was a very slight difference in price for paying with a credit card. It`s not easy to tell your daughter that`s thousands of miles away to have cash ready. But she said the delivery was fine. It was an hour before they would be there. The person showed up on time, notified her. They offered a voucher to get the car washed. So, she had that done. I submitted the receipt and they took care of it. I was completely satisfied and I`d recommend them.”
“A human answered the phone when I called Sherpa and they were nice to me. They were easy to talk to and communicate with. Some of the other companies were making some promises that couldn`t necessarily be kept. But Sherpa was the kind who would say those things, but they`re not going to make that promise unless they can actually do it. I set the transport up for mother-in-law and although everything was totally smooth and everything got delivered faster than expected, in perfect condition and was totally satisfied, the drivers who showed up didn`t speak any English at all. So, there was a little bit of a communication barrier there, but they worked through it. The cost was exactly what I expected. It was all completely transparent.”
“I bought a car in New York – I`m in Illinois! Yikes! So, I had to get it home. I picked Sherpa because my wife had heard fellow travel nurses who`d used them for transporting their travel trailers. They seemed reasonable and professional. They didn`t fail me! Got my car from New York to Illinois in less than a week! Got a $50 rebate for booking online. Got a $20 car wash reimbursed when it arrived as well. My only critique was the company they found to drive it here. The driver had a less than pleasant personality, was not going to give me any paperwork at the time of delivery until I asked for it. “Oh, you want a bill of laden? I guess I can fill one out for you.” Other than that, a seamless experience!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Niagara Falls, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
