What our Newburgh customers say about Sherpa:
“In a very professional and friendly call the process of shipping a car and Sherpa’s role was explained to me. Very easy to follow and understand. I decided to hire Sherpa and filled out the necessary paperwork. I should mention that this came with a high level of anxiety. I’m rolling the dice on shipping a car with a lot of unknowns. I had flexibility in the pickup and delivery and scheduling was set up accordingly. As the pickup date approached I was contacted by Sherpa with confirmation that they booked a driver. I was told the driver would contact me and we’d arrange the pickup. There were a few hiccups with the communication with the driver and this is where I really appreciated the choice I made with Sherpa. They helped sort out the issues in a very timely, professional, manner and were willing to go so far as to book another driver if my confidence in the shipper they selected was low. I relied on their past positive experience with the shipper and decided to stick with them. I’m glad I did. The driver was very friendly and the entire process was smooth sailing. The pickup and drop off process was quick and without incident. Without question if I ever have the need to ship a car in the future, my choice will be Sherpa. I’m adding 2 pictures showing my daughter’s blue Ford loaded in NY and arriving in CO.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn’t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can’t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you’re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son’s first car while he’s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”
“I rarely give reviews, but I can’t wait to give Sherpa the rating it deserves on all platform. After weeks of research and decided to place trust on Sherpa to ship my car from NY to CA, they did not fail me. Sherpa really puts convenience and peace of mind over everything. My car arrives cross country in less than a week in perfect condition, and that’s not to mention the student discount and free car wash I am about to get from them. Sure, the price is definitely steep and not as enticing as other shipping companies out there, but it is locked and guaranteed, so you don’t have to worry about the hassle of the bidding business of the car shipping industry. I only had 4 phone calls since I signed up to get my car cross country a week later: one with Sherpa for a confirmation of a carrier, one with the carrier, and two with the carriers when delivery.”

Factors that affect Newburgh Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Newburgh, NY significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to or from Newburgh. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection from Newburgh’s varied weather conditions, including snow and rain.
- Location Accessibility: Newburgh’s proximity to major routes like I-84 and I-87 can help reduce costs. However, shipping to more remote areas outside the city may increase prices.
- Seasonal Factors: Newburgh’s harsh winters can affect car shipping prices. Ice and snow may cause delays or require special handling, potentially increasing costs during colder months.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship to or from Newburgh due to the space they occupy and fuel consumption.
- Timing and Flexibility: Opting for a flexible pickup window can lead to more competitive rates for Newburgh car shipping. Rush or guaranteed delivery services often come at a premium.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles may incur additional fees for special equipment needed to load and unload them in Newburgh.

Newburgh, New York Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Newburgh?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Newburgh. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Newburgh?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Newburgh?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Newburgh?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“I called Sherpa Auto Transport and I got somebody. It was a person who spoke English. That made me happy because I felt we were communicating. And we had a discussion. He told me how it all worked and how much it would cost. We talked about dates. And somehow they got back to me. They set it up. It was very smooth. They told me there would be a driver. Somebody said he would call. I got anxious about the whole thing. Because I`m in the middle of Manhattan. My car is in a garage. I can drive it where they need to. But how would I do it in the middle of Manhattan? The driver called me up and said, “I`ll be there in the blah, blah, minutes”. And I went over to the garage and got the car. And I thought, “What am I going to do? I`m going to have to park it somewhere. And then I`m gonna find a parking space.’ It ended up being nothing at all. So, I waited on 55th Street. Second Avenue goes from one end of Manhattan all the way down to the other end. It goes from north to south. And he said, “I`ll meet you at 54th in a second. I`ll have my transport there.” I drove over there. And there he was with the transport. He got out. And we looked at the car. We had a chit-chat about it. And he said, “All right. See you later.” He got in the car. Drove it on the transport. I turned around, took a picture of it and left. The driver was a sweetheart. He picked the car up on a Friday. And it was delivered on a Tuesday. Whoever did it in Texas was a different person than I talked to, who was the ultimate driver. He called her a half an hour. He said he was 10 miles out. But she didn`t answer the phone. So, the driver called me. And I called her. And he called her. She lives in Austin, Texas. She lives more out in the suburbs. And she said, he didn`t want to bring it on her street because there were too many trees. She said, “I just jogged over to the, you know. It wasn`t very far.” She sent me a thing and said, “There`s this little ding here.” I said, “Oh, that`s an old one.” There was nothing. And he gave her the keys. She signed it, she gave him the check, and that was that. It was very smooth. They had their stuff together. The car got there in no time. Sherpa was great. Everybody was professional. I would recommend them.”
“I live in Georgia and bought a car at a New York State. I had hired a transport company to start with and they weren`t getting anything done after about nine days. So, I was doing some research online and got some good feedback about Sherpa. They were mostly Americans. Most of the people I was dealing with that other company were not and they could barely understand them talking on the phone. I called the representative with Sherpa and they were easy to talk to and deal with. They understood my dilemma and they had me a driver in three days. The price was what they told me. I paid $450 more than I’d do with the previous company that I hired and fired but it was worth it. From what I understood, that was about what it was gonna cost anyway to get the car delivered. I did some research and was asking questions on a trucker transport forum. They were all saying that the price that I was given wouldn`t get anybody to bring the car to me. They said if I`d pay for the transport in the 1,400 to 1,500 bucks, I`d get it. And that was what I did. I ended up paying 1,500. But the driver that Sherpa had hired was professional, excellent, very helpful and very polite. He was top-notch. I would use that guy again. Even after he got the car off the trailer, he was helping me with the car. The reps from Sherpa were fantastic. I talked to two different guys and they were top-notch. They were very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They said that even if they needed to up the amount of money paid to the driver, they would lower their cost to the company in order to get the car to me. I`m very pleased with them. The condition of the vehicles is what it was when it left. There was no damage. Overall, the experience was great and I was very pleased with their service from Sherpa.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn`t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. “I rarely give reviews, but I can`t wait to give Sherpa the rating it deserves on all platform. After weeks of research and decided to place trust on Sherpa to ship my car from NY to CA, they did not fail me. Sherpa really puts convenience and peace of mind over everything. My car arrives cross country in less than a week in perfect condition, and that`s not to mention the student discount and free car wash I am about to get from them. Sure, the price is definitely steep and not as enticing as other shipping companies out there, but it is locked and guaranteed, so you don`t have to worry about the hassle of the bidding business of the car shipping industry. I only had 4 phone calls since I signed up to get my car cross country a week later: one with Sherpa for a confirmation of a carrier, one with the carrier, and two with the carriers when delivery. My family and I placed a goal of having my car in CA by July 1st. Sherpa shattered that goal by twelve days. We were still amazed. If there`s only one suggestion I`d give Sherpa is that they would ask the carrier they partner with to be more communicative with the customer. Although Sherpa said they would give us a call 12-24 hours prior to pick up, they arrived to our pick up spot in NY unprompted. Had we not been home, the truck might had have to return another day. Luckily, the situation improves once I gave the carrier a call about this and they called me a day before delivery. The customer service, peace of mind and extremely quick delivery outweighs that cons though. Thanks, Sherpa.”
“I was moving my car from New York to Florida and needed a transport service. I looked at three companies. I let the company that I initially chose know that I needed to have the transport done as soon as possible. But I didn`t get a callback and it was quite a while. I waited until I went to the next one then the next one. I found Sherpa to be fairly quick and they were able to do the transport within a few days. The quote I got from Sherpa was higher than the initial quote from the other company. But I was told that was the reason I was waiting so long. The other company had underquoted and nobody wanted to take the job. Sherpa`s quote was reasonable. And the quote at the end of the job was the same as what I originally received. I would recommend Sherpa. They did the job exactly the way they said they would. The driver was very efficient and friendly. The car was delivered within the time that they said it would be.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Newburgh, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization.
