What our New Rochelle customers say about Sherpa:
“It ended up being nothing at all. So, I waited on 55th Street. Second Avenue goes from one end of Manhattan all the way down to the other end. It goes from north to south. And he said, “I’ll meet you at 54th in a second. I’ll have my transport there.” I drove over there. And there he was with the transport. He got out. And we looked at the car. We had a chit-chat about it. And he said, “All right. See you later.” He got in the car. Drove it on the transport. I turned around, took a picture of it and left. The driver was a sweetheart. He picked the car up on a Friday. And it was delivered on a Tuesday. Whoever did it in Texas was a different person than I talked to, who was the ultimate driver. He called her a half an hour. He said he was 10 miles out. But she didn’t answer the phone. So, the driver called me. And I called her. And he called her. She lives in Austin, Texas. She lives more out in the suburbs. And she said, he didn’t want to bring it on her street because there were too many trees. She said, “I just jogged over to the, you know. It wasn’t very far.” She sent me a thing and said, “There’s this little ding here.” I said, “Oh, that’s an old one.” There was nothing. And he gave her the keys. She signed it, she gave him the check, and that was that. It was very smooth. They had their stuff together. The car got there in no time. Sherpa was great. Everybody was professional. I would recommend them.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn’t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can’t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you’re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son’s first car while he’s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”
“I bought a car in New York – I’m in Illinois! Yikes! So, I had to get it home. I picked Sherpa because my wife had heard fellow travel nurses who’d used them for transporting their travel trailers. They seemed reasonable and professional. They didn’t fail me! Got my car from New York to Illinois in less than a week! Got a $50 rebate for booking online. Got a $20 car wash reimbursed when it arrived as well. My only critique was the company they found to drive it here. The driver had a less than pleasant personality, was not going to give me any paperwork at the time of delivery until I asked for it. “Oh, you want a bill of laden? I guess I can fill one out for you.” Other than that, a seamless experience!”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect New Rochelle Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between New Rochelle, NY and your destination is a key factor in car shipping costs. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer journeys.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and affordable option for car shipping to or from New Rochelle. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection for high-value vehicles against New Rochelle’s varied weather conditions.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, generally cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Time of Year: Seasonal demand affects car shipping prices in New Rochelle. Summer months and January tend to be busier and more expensive due to increased relocation activity.
- Route Accessibility: New Rochelle’s proximity to major highways like I-95 and I-287 can help reduce costs. However, navigating through the city’s dense urban areas might add to the overall price.
- Delivery Timeframe: Opting for a flexible 5-day pickup window is usually the most cost-effective choice. Expedited shipping will increase the price but might be necessary if you’re on a tight schedule.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles that can roll, brake, and steer are cheaper to transport. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the shipping cost.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from New Rochelle, NY. For a more detailed breakdown of car shipping costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your New Rochelle car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping is generally more affordable than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower rates, especially when shipping to or from New Rochelle, NY.
- Consider location: Discuss pickup and drop-off points with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors. Locations near major highways like I-95 or the Hutchinson River Parkway can reduce costs for auto transport companies.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can lead to better pricing options. Consider a range of dates rather than a specific day for your New Rochelle car shipping needs.
- Opt for off-peak seasons: If possible, schedule your auto transport during less busy times. Avoiding summer and holidays can result in more competitive rates for shipping a car to or from New Rochelle.

New Rochelle Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When shipping a car to or from New Rochelle, NY, it’s crucial to be aware of local vehicle requirements and regulations. New York State mandates annual vehicle inspections, so ensure your car is up-to-date before transport. If you’re using E-ZPass for tolls, remember to remove or deactivate it during shipping to avoid unnecessary charges. New residents must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency. The New York Department of Motor Vehicles handles this process, which includes obtaining NY insurance, passing a vehicle inspection, and paying registration fees.
New Rochelle’s climate can impact car shipping services. Winters can be harsh, so if you’re moving during colder months, consider enclosed auto transport to protect your vehicle from snow and road salt. The city is conveniently located near major highways like I-95 and the Hutchinson River Parkway, making it accessible for car transport companies.
When settling in New Rochelle, set up utilities promptly. Con Edison provides electricity and gas, while SUEZ manages water services. For internet, providers like Optimum and Verizon offer high-speed options. Don’t forget to update your driver’s license and register to vote at the Westchester County Board of Elections. Families moving to the area should contact the City School District of New Rochelle for school enrollment information.
If you’re moving away from New Rochelle, remember to:
• Forward your mail through USPS
• Cancel local memberships (gym, library, etc.)
• Notify your current utility providers
• Update your address with banks, employers, and subscription services
Whether you’re moving to or from New Rochelle, choosing a reliable car shipping company is essential. Research New Rochelle car shipping options to find a service that meets your needs and ensures your vehicle arrives safely at its destination.
New Rochelle, New York Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from New Rochelle?

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from New Rochelle?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from New Rochelle?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to New Rochelle?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“This past Labor Day weekend, my wife and I used Sherpa and one of their contract carriers, Morganite Auto Transport, to ship a car from our home in the Tampa area to our son in upstate New York. We decided to go with Sherpa only after doing a considerable amount of research on auto transport brokers available in our area. And we’re so glad we chose Sherpa – it was an excellent choice! The whole process, from our initial contact with Sherpa through delivery of the car by Morganite, went off without the slightest hitch. In fact, the car was able to be picked up sooner and delivered earlier than we had expected when we began planning to ship the car. The price quoted by Sherpa at the outset was reasonable, complete, and guaranteed – we were able to pay the entire cost upfront, and there were no additional charges at the time of delivery. At each step of the way, both Sherpa and Morganite were thoroughly professional, efficient, helpful, and friendly. We’d be happy to recommend them to anyone in need of car transport services! Thank you, Sherpa and Morganite!”
“I bought a Bronco from a car dealership in New York and I needed to transport it to California. My normal carrier wasn`t available to pick up the car within a decent amount of time. So I had to look elsewhere and I went with Sherpa. You can call some of these places then there`d be nobody there and they`d get back to you. I never had any of those issues with Sherpa. I liked how quickly they responded when I reached out to them. Their website was also easy to use and informative. We had a truck over there in just two days and they transported the car out here to me in LA. The driver was very forthcoming. He would text me and if there were any questions, I had his phone number to call him if I wanted to talk to him personally. I didn`t really need to do that, but he was texting me his location and his progress. I was also very pleased with the trailer that the driver came here with. It was in good shape and his rig was pretty nice. All in all, the numbers were good, the service was great, the car came through unscathed, which is always a biggie, and I was very happy with them. Their price lock promise was unusual and that was something that I was attracted to. It was a $500 thing if they couldn`t get it within the specified period of time and I had never seen a shipper do that before. So that was encouraging and I appreciated it. Unfortunately, I didn`t collect on it.”
“The price that Sherpa quoted me was a good bit cheaper. I used their service to transport a 2017 Honda Accent from New York to Texas. Customer service was really good. They had a weight limit when it came to transporting stuff in the car. That was the main thing and they wanted everything to be out of the sight line of the cabin. Nothing should be visible. Also, there would be no important personal belongings for safety reasons. The driver gave me a call and then he started texting me so he was pretty available for communication throughout the whole process. But to pick up the car, he asked me about the the driveway situation and how much space he had. Because he had a full-size truck, he said he would like to meet at a grocery store just down the street from where I am. We met at a Walmart parking lot and he took some pictures of the car. He asked if there were any questions and then loaded the vehicle up on the car. Nothing was wrong with the vehicle when we received it. Sherpa was a great value. I got what I needed to get done for a price that was competitive with the market. It definitely beats driving the car down myself.”
“I got four quotes and they were all within about $100 of each other. Sherpa`s price was in line with the market, and up to 100 pounds of my personal items could be stored in the vehicle. It just had to be below the window line, so it could be in the trunk or the back seat. Setting up the transport was easy. The reps were always available. I called three or four times with different questions, and they always answered them. They did a good job. Since I`ve never done a transport before, I didn`t know what to expect, but Sherpa was a lot faster and more efficient than I was expecting. The same person picked up and delivered my Jeep Renegade. Sherpa quoted me five days, but from when the driver picked it up, he got it to Upstate New York in two days. He arrived ahead of schedule, so it was good. The car was dropped off at a coworker`s house while we were moving, so it was not an issue, and the driver knew somebody else was gonna be signing for it. That was all communicated ahead of time. My coworker said the guy was really nice, and they did the inspection of the car together.”
“Setting up the transport was very good. I received quick responses and Sherpa’s reps promised they`d have the transport initially set up. They emailed me throughout the process. So, I was very happy with everything. I was given a couple of meeting place options for the pickup and the driver was there at exactly the time he stated he would be there. So, it was very well put together. We took pictures beforehand and so did the driver. He filled out a bill of lading and I sent a copy of that to my son. The car was delivered right in front of my son’s house and it arrived in the same condition that it departed New York. If people need to transport a vehicle long distance, Sherpa is a very reliable company to deal with. They quoted me a price and that was exactly what I paid. They had stated that if, for some reason, there was a bump in the price, they would cover a $300 additional fee. But that was never an issue.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in New Rochelle, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
