What our Mount Vernon customers say about Sherpa:
“It ended up being nothing at all. So, I waited on 55th Street. Second Avenue goes from one end of Manhattan all the way down to the other end. It goes from north to south. And he said, “I’ll meet you at 54th in a second. I’ll have my transport there.” I drove over there. And there he was with the transport. He got out. And we looked at the car. We had a chit-chat about it. And he said, “All right. See you later.” He got in the car. Drove it on the transport. I turned around, took a picture of it and left. The driver was a sweetheart. He picked the car up on a Friday. And it was delivered on a Tuesday. Whoever did it in Texas was a different person than I talked to, who was the ultimate driver. He called her a half an hour. He said he was 10 miles out. But she didn’t answer the phone. So, the driver called me. And I called her. And he called her. She lives in Austin, Texas. She lives more out in the suburbs. And she said, he didn’t want to bring it on her street because there were too many trees. She said, “I just jogged over to the, you know. It wasn’t very far.” She sent me a thing and said, “There’s this little ding here.” I said, “Oh, that’s an old one.” There was nothing. And he gave her the keys. She signed it, she gave him the check, and that was that. It was very smooth. They had their stuff together. The car got there in no time. Sherpa was great. Everybody was professional. I would recommend them.”
“Crimson, the person I spoke to, was very informative. She gave me some good feedback and gave me a lot of information because being in New York City, I really don’t drive every day. Also, they were able to get KWIK. It was the shipping company they used and I got a rave review from the person who had the car in San Francisco who told me the driver was really nice, helpful, and courteous. They picked up the car on September 25th in San Francisco and they got it to Connecticut by October 2nd. The 25th was the best day in September for the person in San Francisco so, that worked out perfectly. They gave two dates for arrival and luckily for us, it came at the right time because if it came the next day, we would have been out of town and we would have had to put it in storage. My boss would have to be home to accept it because his wife was gonna be out of town. So, their customer service was great and talking to them was a pleasure.”
“I live in Georgia and bought a car at a New York State. I had hired a transport company to start with and they weren’t getting anything done after about nine days. So, I was doing some research online and got some good feedback about Sherpa. They were mostly Americans. Most of the people I was dealing with that other company were not and they could barely understand them talking on the phone. I called the representative with Sherpa and they were easy to talk to and deal with. They understood my dilemma and they had me a driver in three days. The price was what they told me. I paid $450 more than I’d do with the previous company that I hired and fired but it was worth it. From what I understood, that was about what it was gonna cost anyway to get the car delivered.”

Factors that affect Mount Vernon Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Mount Vernon, NY significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Mount Vernon. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection from weather and road debris, which can be beneficial during harsh New York winters.
- Location Accessibility: Mount Vernon’s proximity to major highways like I-95 and I-87 can help reduce costs. Urban areas are typically cheaper for pickup and delivery compared to rural locations.
- Seasonal Factors: Weather conditions in Mount Vernon, particularly during winter months, can affect car shipping prices. Icy roads and snow may lead to increased rates or potential delays.
- Vehicle Size and Condition: Larger or heavier vehicles cost more to ship. Inoperable cars also increase costs due to the need for special equipment.
- Timing and Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive rates. Rush or guaranteed delivery services will increase the cost of your car shipment.

- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item safety during transport.
- Be flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can open up more cost-effective options. Consider adjusting your schedule slightly to take advantage of better rates.

Reviews from our New York Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied New York customers:
“Sherpa had a good rating on Better Business Bureau and it said that Sherpa was a bit more expensive than some of the other ones, but they had a guarantee to get your car moved in the appropriate time frame. I realized that in that industry, they give you a date but it would float a couple of days here or there. So, it’s not definitive because they are just an agent. They’re not actually moving the car. I was always moving out of state, so I wanted to make sure that I had that whole week. I would still be up in New York. So, I decided to call them and get a quote. I had some lowball quotes, but most of them were at 700, 800. The rep gave me a quote of 1,900 and I said to him, “Look, don’t you guys have some more guarantees than the other companies?” But $1,900, that’s more than double. He ended up inputting the wrong destination. He put it in California rather than North Carolina. So, he went back to check it, and then he said, “Oh, wait a minute. I screwed up. Hold on one second.” He then did it. They were a bit more expensive, but I wanted my car to get down there. I was moving to North Carolina and they’re based out of Charlotte. I called Sherpa the week before and they said, “Yeah, we don’t have anything yet. But typically, these things happen pretty quickly. We’ll let you know.” My first date was a Monday, 19th of July. Sherpa sent me an email on Sunday saying that, “We don’t have a driver yet, but we’re gonna keep you informed.” That was good to know that I was in the queue. I was surprised because Sherpa called me and said, “Okay, today’s the day, and guess what, we got a driver and the guy’s going to be there in a couple of hours.” He then told me the name of the company and said the guy would call me. He would be here in a couple of hours, which was accurate. So, I was prepared. I wish they gave me a bit more of a notice, but it was fine. I was home, and then the driver came. He called me when he got to my house and those folks were from North Carolina also. And the two folks from the company were very good. I gave one my daughter’s number, where he would drop the car off in North Carolina. I asked him when they would be there. Because with these auto transports, sometimes it would take three days. He said, “No, I’m going to be down there tomorrow. I’m probably not gonna get there till 5:00.” I said, “Okay, good. My daughter will be available any time after 3:00.” The driver was very courteous. I had a nice talk with him He got down there early and called my daughter. She said, “Look, I’m not going to be home until like 2:33.” He said, “Okay, no problem. I’ll hold off.” He came, dropped the car off, we had cash for him and everything worked out good. The car was in good shape, no dents. It looked exactly like it was in New York. They got my car up without incident and they were able to communicate to my destination. Everything worked out as planned and scheduled.”
“In October 2020, I used Sherpa Auto Transport to ship my daughter’s car from New York to Colorado. Trying to figure out the logistics of a quick move, due to a job change, had me wondering if shipping cars was even an option. A quick search on the web — yes indeed, there appear to be many companies that will ship autos. After reading many, many reviews I came to the conclusion that, according to those reviews, every company is either the best option or the worst option to use. It’s hard to filter through what can simply be unreasonable complaints vs. legitimate issues. Sherpa seemed to rank high on most websites that offered car transport company reviews so I decided to give them a call. In a very professional and friendly call the process of shipping a car and Sherpa’s role was explained to me. Very easy to follow and understand. I decided to hire Sherpa and filled out the necessary paperwork. I should mention that this came with a high level of anxiety. I’m rolling the dice on shipping a car with a lot of unknowns. I had flexibility in the pickup and delivery and scheduling was set up accordingly. As the pickup date approached I was contacted by Sherpa with confirmation that they booked a driver. I was told the driver would contact me and we’d arrange the pickup. There were a few hiccups with the communication with the driver and this is where I really appreciated the choice I made with Sherpa. They helped sort out the issues in a very timely, professional, manner and were willing to go so far as to book another driver if my confidence in the shipper they selected was low. I relied on their past positive experience with the shipper and decided to stick with them. I’m glad I did. The driver was very friendly and the entire process was smooth sailing. The pickup and drop off process was quick and without incident. Without question if I ever have the need to ship a car in the future, my choice will be Sherpa. I’m adding 2 pictures showing my daughter’s blue Ford loaded in NY and arriving in CO.”
From what I understood, that was about what it was gonna cost anyway to get the car delivered. I did some research and was asking questions on a trucker transport forum. They were all saying that the price that I was given wouldn’t get anybody to bring the car to me. They said if I’d pay for the transport in the 1,400 to 1,500 bucks, I’d get it. And that was what I did. I ended up paying 1,500. But the driver that Sherpa had hired was professional, excellent, very helpful and very polite. He was top-notch. I would use that guy again. Even after he got the car off the trailer, he was helping me with the car. The reps from Sherpa were fantastic. I talked to two different guys and they were top-notch. They were very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They said that even if they needed to up the amount of money paid to the driver, they would lower their cost to the company in order to get the car to me. I’m very pleased with them. The condition of the vehicles is what it was when it left. There was no damage. Overall, the experience was great and I was very pleased with their service from Sherpa.”
“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn’t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can’t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you’re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son’s first car while he’s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”
“I rarely give reviews, but I can’t wait to give Sherpa the rating it deserves on all platform. After weeks of research and decided to place trust on Sherpa to ship my car from NY to CA, they did not fail me. Sherpa really puts convenience and peace of mind over everything. My car arrives cross country in less than a week in perfect condition, and that’s not to mention the student discount and free car wash I am about to get from them. Sure, the price is definitely steep and not as enticing as other shipping companies out there, but it is locked and guaranteed, so you don’t have to worry about the hassle of the bidding business of the car shipping industry. I only had 4 phone calls since I signed up to get my car cross country a week later: one with Sherpa for a confirmation of a carrier, one with the carrier, and two with the carriers when delivery. My family and I placed a goal of having my car in CA by July 1st. Sherpa shattered that goal by twelve days. We were still amazed. If there’s only one suggestion I’d give Sherpa is that they would ask the carrier they partner with to be more communicative with the customer. Although Sherpa said they would give us a call 12-24 hours prior to pick up, they arrived to our pick up spot in NY unprompted. Had we not been home, the truck might had have to return another day. Luckily, the situation improves once I gave the carrier a call about this and they called me a day before delivery. The customer service, peace of mind and extremely quick delivery outweighs that cons though. Thanks, Sherpa.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Mount Vernon, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of New York.
