- Location, Location, Location. For your convenience, we strive to make all shipments door to door. However, if you are in a remote location, consider selecting a location closer to an interstate to help reduce your car shipping cost.

What our Las Vegas customers say about Sherpa:
“What a truly amazing FIRST TIME shipping experience. From the moment I did my research on the various companies, I kept coming back to Sherpa. Finally chose them and the communication was always quick and detailed. I was kept updated, informed quickly who we were being assigned to, GiGi Line Inc and communicated directly with the driver, he contacted 24 hours prior to the expected pick up, kept me informed about his ETA which was super helpful for my busy day. Driver unfortunately came on the windiest day we have had here in Las Vegas, ever, and with gusts of 78 mph, he quickly and safely loaded the vehicle, secured it and departed.”
“My experience with Sherpa was excellent. I booked online for Minnesota to las vegas on Friday 24 May(during memorial day weekend), understandable that they can`t confirm the carrier during the holiday. Then as soon as holiday ends, on Tuesday 28 May morning before 9am, receive call from Sherpa they found a carrier and can pick up tomorrow (29 May) for my car and I received email confirmation with possible delivery date of 31 May-2 June…”
“Sherpa Transport carried my SUV from Las Vegas to Florida. Very professional company. The cost was in the middle of 2 other carriers. I was contacted within the window they gave me. The driver texted the day before with an estimated time and the day of an hour before. He gave me an estimate of when the car would be delivered and repeated the communication on the delivery end. I highly recommend them for transport and would use them in the future.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Las Vegas Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Las Vegas. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but the cost per mile often decreases for longer trips.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger and heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship than compact cars. This is due to the space they occupy on the carrier and their impact on fuel consumption.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and affordable option for auto transport to Las Vegas. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection but are about 50% more expensive and may have longer delivery times.
- Season and Demand: Summer months and January typically see higher car shipping prices due to increased demand. Las Vegas’s extreme heat in summer can also affect pricing and availability.
- Route Popularity: Las Vegas’s location near major highways like I-15 and I-515 can make it more accessible and potentially cheaper for car transport compared to more remote locations.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Non-running cars require special equipment, increasing the cost.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Terminal-to-terminal shipping is often cheaper than door-to-door service. However, Las Vegas’s sprawling layout might make door-to-door more convenient for some customers.
- Flexibility: Being flexible with pickup and delivery dates can lead to better rates. Rush or guaranteed delivery services will increase the price.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Las Vegas. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Las Vegas car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Strategic pickup/drop-off locations: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major interstates like I-15 or US-95. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates to increase your chances of finding the best car shipping rates. Consider various locations around Las Vegas, such as Henderson or North Las Vegas, for potential cost savings.
- Consider seasonal timing: Las Vegas experiences extreme heat in summer, which can affect car shipping prices. If possible, schedule your auto transport during milder seasons for potentially lower rates.

Las Vegas Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When shipping a car to or from Las Vegas, NV, it’s crucial to understand local regulations and prepare for your move. Unlike many cities, Las Vegas doesn’t have toll roads, so you won’t need to worry about removing toll readers. However, Nevada does require vehicle inspections for emissions in Clark County, where Las Vegas is located. New residents must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency, which involves providing proof of insurance, a valid driver’s license, and passing the emissions test.
For those using car shipping services to Las Vegas, be aware of the city’s extreme heat. Ensure your auto transport company is prepared to handle high temperatures, which can affect vehicles during transit. When your car arrives, check fluid levels and tire pressure, as the desert climate can impact these.
Moving to Las Vegas? Here are some essential tips:
- Set up utilities: NV Energy provides electricity, while the Las Vegas Valley Water District handles water services.
- Internet providers include Cox and CenturyLink.
- Register to vote at the Clark County Election Department.
- Enroll children in the Clark County School District.
- Get a library card from the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District.
If you’re moving away from Las Vegas, remember to:
- Cancel local memberships (gyms, clubs, etc.)
- Forward your mail through USPS
- Notify your car insurance provider of your move
When using a car shipping company in Las Vegas, consider the city’s major highways like I-15 and US-95 for easy access. Also, be mindful of potential dust storms, which can affect visibility and vehicle cleanliness during transport. By understanding these local factors, you’ll ensure a smooth transition whether you’re shipping a car to or from the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Las Vegas, Nevada Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Las Vegas?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Las Vegas. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Las Vegas?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Las Vegas?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Las Vegas?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.
Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.

Car Shipping for College Students in Las Vegas, Nevada
When considering car shipping to Las Vegas for college, it’s crucial to understand parking options at local universities. At the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), students need to purchase parking permits, which are available online. Most apartments near campus offer parking, but it’s wise to confirm beforehand. For those using auto transport services to bring their car, remember that UNLV provides long-term parking during breaks. However, Nevada State College has limited on-campus parking, so students might need to explore nearby options. When shipping a car to Las Vegas, consider the desert climate. While snow tires aren’t necessary, regular maintenance is essential due to high temperatures. Before using a car shipping company, verify that your insurance and roadside assistance coverage extends to Nevada. Lastly, if you’re shipping a car from out of state, remember to update your vehicle registration within 30 days of arrival to comply with Nevada law.
Vehicle Shipping for Military Members in Las Vegas, Nevada
While Las Vegas isn’t home to any major military installations, Nellis Air Force Base is located just northeast of the city. For military members relocating to the area, it’s essential to know that on-base parking is available, but can be limited. Many service members choose to live off-base in nearby neighborhoods, which generally have ample street parking. When shipping a car to Las Vegas for military personnel, it’s crucial to coordinate delivery with base security. Vehicle registration in Nevada is straightforward, but remember to update your address with the DMV. The base offers excellent resources, including a commissary and exchange for affordable shopping. Don’t forget that Sherpa Auto Transport offers a $50 military discount for car shipping services to Las Vegas and beyond. We thank all service members and their families for their dedication. Whether you’re stationed at Nellis or living in the Las Vegas area, our team is here to ensure your auto transport needs are met with the utmost care and efficiency.
Reviews from our Nevada Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Nevada customers:
“Our camper broke down, so we had to stay in expensive Las Vegas hotels until we could get it shipped home for repairs. Time was of the essence. Darrin understood our plight and got us shipped and out of that hotel in less than 24 hours. We rented a car, raced 555 miles home, and got there just in time to meet Vladimir, the driver. The car was perfect. Vladimir was super-nice and competent, and neither Darrin nor Vladimir could have done a better job. Getting out of that hotel in a hurry saved us lots of money. Meanwhile, 10 days later, I’m still getting e-mails and calls from other companies who still want to ship our camper… A little late, guys… THANK YOU DARRIN AND VLADIMIR!!!!”
“Called to schedule for a car pick up and transport from NV to NJ. Was notified in approximately 3 hours that a transport had been secured and pick up would likely happen in 2-3 days…I would get a call 24 hours in advance. Got a call the next morning that pickup would happen the next day in the afternoon. The next day, got a call that pickup would happen between 12-1 pm. Carrier arrived at 12:25 pm. Delivery was estimated to be 4-10 days. Car was delivered 4 days later. Great communication…no issues with pickup or drop off. Would definitely use Sherpa again if the need arises!”
“Sherpa arranged and had my 2012 G550, shipped from Miami to Las Vegas, on time, without any issues, being highly professional, careful and delivered it on time in perfect condition. I would highly recommend Sherpa Auto Transport to anyone and everyone who needs to transport their vehicle”
“After talking to several auto transport businesses, we decided to go with SHERPA. I had my dads car transported from NV to NM. Castor Enterprises did an exceptional job transporting our vehicle. He explained he needed to find a place with wifi to send the bill of lading, that’s reasonable. My dad said Bill was very professional at pick up. He kept me updated on his delivery timetable and was courteous at delivery. The car arrived in a timely manner despite record rainfall NM. I was extremely satisfied with his professionalism. I will recommend Sherpa to my friends if they have transport needs.”
“I recently shipped my SUV from Indianapolis, IN to Henderson, NV with Sherpa Auto Transport and I was pleased with the service. My vehicle was in mint condition upon arrival and the transport was faster than expected. I would highly recommend Sherpa Transport and if I get too lazy to drive back to Indy I will call them again!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Las Vegas, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Nevada. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
