What our Shakopee customers say about Sherpa:
“My experience with Sherpa was excellent. I booked online for Minnesota to las vegas on Friday 24 May(during memorial day weekend), understandable that they can`t confirm the carrier during the holiday. Then as soon as holiday ends, on Tuesday 28 May morning before 9am, receive call from Sherpa they found a carrier and can pick up tomorrow (29 May) for my car”
“My Honda CRV went from South Carolina to Minnesota. I don’t like to pay that much, but Sherpa’s quote was fair. I sent the car to my daughter who’s 22, and the driver was close to the same age. Sometimes we get images in our head of gruff, old truck drivers, but this driver was the sweetest, nicest young man.”
“Everyone has different experiences I suppose but Mine was absolutely flawless. Moved to MN from CA, I picked a closed transport- their price is higher that other companies I looked at but there is a reason for that. THEY ARE RELIABLE. Talking to them via email- they respond so darn fast.”

Note: These figures reflect the past 12 months of Sherpa Auto Transport’s vehicle shipments to or from Shakopee, MN. When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Shakopee Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Shakopee, MN significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to or from Shakopee. Enclosed trailers, while offering extra protection, are about 50% more expensive and may have longer delivery times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Seasonal Factors: Shakopee’s harsh winters can affect car shipping prices. Icy roads and snowstorms may lead to higher rates during winter months, while summer tends to be busier for auto transport overall.
- Location Accessibility: Shakopee’s proximity to major highways like US-169 and MN-101 can help keep costs down. However, if pickup or delivery is required in more remote areas of Minnesota, prices may increase.
- Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower car shipping costs. Rush or guaranteed delivery services to or from Shakopee will typically incur higher fees.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to transport as they can be driven onto the carrier. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of shipping to or from Shakopee.
Understanding these factors can help you estimate your car shipping costs more accurately. For a detailed breakdown of pricing factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from Shakopee, MN.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-35 or US-169. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the better chances of securing a cost-effective transport option. Consider various locations around Shakopee for pickup or delivery to maximize savings.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car during off-peak times can result in lower rates due to decreased demand.

Shakopee, Minnesota Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Shakopee?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Shakopee. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Shakopee?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Shakopee?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Shakopee?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Minnesota Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Minnesota customers:
“My girlfriend was moving from Minneapolis to Phoenix and we were shipping a Jag XJL. We looked into five shipping companies before choosing Sherpa, which was the highest-rated. The gal that I spoke to the first day was awesome. We spoke about five times over the ensuing three days and she was very helpful. She gave me a lot of information and several different quotes, and was very accommodating. Their price was a little higher than two of the other ones, but Sherpa was worth it. The delivery was fantastic. First of all, they gave us the estimated delivery date. The driver also called to ask me the day before if it was okay that he would be there between 9:00 and noon. And I said sure. I’m a surgeon and unfortunately I wound up with an emergency operation scheduled on that day. I called him back on his phone at about 6 o’clock at night to tell him I got an emergency appointment that came up and if there was any way he could deliver it later. I told him I won’t be in until around 11:30 pm. He came probably about 1:00 AM. There was no traffic and there was no one on the street. It was very easy to get the car unloaded. They did a fantastic job. The car’s condition was perfect, not a mark on it. The quality of the service that I got was unequalled, and I wound up giving the driver a nice, big tip as well because of his ability to accommodate me in the delivery. I was very happy with the service. They made it very painless and they were very helpful. The whole thing went very smoothly and I’ve given their name to two other people for vehicle transport the last two weeks.”
“Sherpa was highly rated and the individual that I ended up speaking with when I was making arrangements was very professional, courteous and not pushy. They notified me of when the things would happen, usually by text or voice mail, and it was always good information and helpful. The quote was a little higher than some of the others, but the rating was what reassured me. The representative explained that the quote included a cushion for the company because they couldn’t predict what they would have to pay a shipper or a trucker so that I was protected from getting a quote and then having it go up when they were loading the car. Some places gave me quotes that were lower but having read some reviews, it could go up and it might be at the last minute when you are ready to have the transaction happen. The car was the same as when the driver picked it up. I remembered from the reviews of Sherpa that the cars are washed before they’re delivered, which would be nice. And the car was not washed. But it didn’t bother me when it didn’t happen. It was nice to be able to work with a company where I have confidence in what they did. The driver was very good with his communication and the car arrived a day earlier than we thought it might. And that was a plus, because I was already here in Minnesota. It was painless contacting Sherpa. They were informative and courteous. And the whole process went smoothly.”
“I was transferring a car from my grandpa to myself, and I saw Sherpa on Forbes as one of the top transfer companies. Setting up the transport was outstanding, very straightforward and transparent. Customer support was really good. The rep, Marvin, had an open line and let me call him whenever I needed to. The car was picked up in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and dropped off in South Carolina. They picked it up on that Thursday, and the guy they contracted with was great. He let me text him whenever I needed to, and he was very straightforward. And he got to South Carolina in about two days so I was worried he wasn’t sleeping too much. They were very meticulous about the car. And that was one of the worries I had going into it. And there were no scratch marks, and it looked just as good as when we had it picked up.”
“Sherpa did an amazing job!! We highly recommend them! We initially contracted another company and it was all about “Bait and Switch”. Meaning: more money than what was quoted. Sherpa quoted, picked up by deadline, and communication from trucking company was great!!!! ( Jose Borges Trucking). We had broke down in Colorado; rented a car to get back to Minnesota. We contacted Sherpa and they took care of getting our vehicle back to Minnesota. We are so very pleased!!”
“I sent my Lexus CT 200h from Rochester MN to Houston TX. The Sherpa was excellent in answering the calls. Did not promise too much, but said they will increase their bid, by up to $300, if a carrier is not found for my window without increasing my quoted price. I also have a strict pickup and delivery window. (While other companies who wanted to get the business promised a driver far in advance for a pickup date, Sherpa said that is not how the system works.) I was worried but stayed with them and just a day before the pickup date they called with a driver information. Driver was very good too. Great service. I will continue using Sherpa. Unil”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Shakopee, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Minnesota. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
