What our Sterling Heights customers say about Sherpa:

“Writing a review because I relied heavily on these while deciding which broker company to go with to find someone to transport my car from Utah to Michigan. Factors that affect Sterling Heights Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Sterling Heights, MI. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the cost per mile typically decreases for longer trips.
- Vehicle Size: Larger vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, take up more space on the carrier and weigh more, resulting in higher shipping costs compared to smaller cars.
- Transport Type: Open transport is the most common and affordable option for car shipping to Sterling Heights. Enclosed transport offers extra protection but costs about 50% more and may take longer.
- Seasonal Factors: Car shipping prices in Sterling Heights can fluctuate with the seasons. Winter weather conditions, especially snow and ice, may affect transport times and costs. Summer months often see increased demand and potentially higher prices.
- Location Accessibility: Sterling Heights’ proximity to major highways like I-75 and M-53 can make it more accessible for auto transport carriers, potentially reducing costs compared to more remote locations.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower car shipping costs. Expedited or guaranteed delivery times typically come with a higher price tag.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Non-running cars require special equipment for loading and unloading, increasing the overall shipping cost.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from Sterling Heights, MI. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Sterling Heights car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-75 or M-53. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and potentially lower your overall car shipping price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before transport. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item safety during shipping.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the better chances of finding cost-effective auto transport options to or from Sterling Heights, MI.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car during off-peak times can often result in lower rates for Sterling Heights car transport.

- Choose pickup and drop-off locations on level ground to ensure carrier stability on potentially icy surfaces.
- Avoid leaving items that may freeze in your car during transport.
In summer (June to August), temperatures can rise significantly. When shipping a car during this time:
- Place a sunshade under your windshield to protect the interior.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items from your vehicle before transport.

By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, you can ensure a smoother, more efficient car shipping experience to or from Sterling Heights, MI. Always consult with your chosen car shipping company for the most up-to-date advice on shipping a car in specific weather conditions.
Reviews from our Michigan Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Michigan customers:
“I`m in Canada and I have a daughter in the US. I had a vehicle in the US that I wanted to return to Canada. It is a Canadian vehicle. My daughter moved to New York City and she didn`t want the vehicle anymore so I repatriated it to Canada. I googled the top transport companies because I know the margins are very tight and it`s highly competitive so a few extra dollars give you probably a better service. I looked at the reviews on Sherpa. The fellow I spoke with mentioned that Sherpa also was cited by Forbes magazine as the top transport company in ‘˜22 and that made a big impression on me because Forbes magazine does its research. He also told me to be aware of having those little scanners on your car that charges a toll fee for the Pikepass. He was the only one who mentioned removing those from the vehicle. Otherwise, I would incur the toll charges throughout the transport. I was impressed by that. It felt honest and professional. The pickup was in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the drop-off was in Coleville, Washington. The driver kept in contact with me. I had given him a narrow last few kilometer routes that would have been difficult and before I even contacted him to tell him, ‘No, take the alternative route that truckers take,’ he had already offloaded the vehicle and borrowed just a single vehicle hauler and he brought it up that way. I was impressed. Another thing that made a huge impact on me was there was a very tight window. I opened the window up to five days from three days, and the woman on the phone told me right away, ‘Well, you get $200 off.’ I didn`t know that, and they actually took it off my bill. I was very impressed. They didn’t have to do that. They`re professional and honest.”
“I made a deal on a truck in Michigan, and the dealer wasn`t going to arrange shipping like my previous purchases. They left it up to me, so I had to learn. There are some cutthroats out there that many problems could arise, either the vehicle would show up damaged or they would try to charge you additional funds after they made the deal on the initial contract. On the other hand, Sherpa`s quote was right on, and the reps were top-notch. They answered all my questions and were very polite, and the reputation of their drivers proved to be accurate when I got the vehicle here. They had up to date equipment and professional delivery drivers. I had contact via text saying that the driver picked up the truck, and I was given an approximate time and date that they would be here. I told the driver where to deliver it because of room limitations, and they agreed to that, then they let me know that they were so many minutes out from my home. They were very forthright with their communication. I`ve transported vehicles before. The drivers would initially write down any imperfections of the vehicle when they picked it up, then once I got it to my location, they would go over those imperfections they wrote down whether or not you agree or disagree with it and then I signed off on it. Fortunately, for the drivers, they didn`t write anything down because the truck was in perfect condition. There were no flaws, scratches, scuffs, or dents, which surprised me because I was assured by the dealership that I purchased it from that it was that type of vehicle. The condition of the vehicle was more the responsibility of the dealer that I purchased it from, and more often than not, there are some imperfections, but there weren`t any on this one. Use Sherpa.”
“Smoothest transaction I have ever had. Being my first transport, I didn’t know what to expect. Sherpa brokers out their deliveries and only uses the most reputable drivers with highest ins policies. I compared prices with two other companies and they were by far the most reasonable. From beginning to end, the process was flawless. Thank you to Doug for getting my son’s vehicle from Arizona to Michigan. I think it only took 3 days. Will definitely use them again. So pleased with their professionalism and customer service.”
“Very smooth process shipping my car from Houston to Michigan using Sherpa! I had a complicated schedule where someone else was at the pickup location to drop off my car and I was arriving at DTW airport at the same time my car was supposed to arrive. The timing worked out perfectly as I was able to pick my car up right after I landed. I highly recommend using Sherpa for transporting your car across the country. It was very convenient and affordable!”
“This is our 4th Year using Sherpa Transport and we continue to be totally satisfied with their services from start to finish. Before we found Sherpa we had problems with other carriers. Sherpa has shipped our car to and from Florida and California on time and in perfect condition. They also recently shipped my daughter`s car from Michigan. I could not ask for a more Reliable, Professional, Reasonable, and Pleasant company to deal with.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Sterling Heights, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Michigan. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
