Factors that affect Plymouth Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Plymouth, MI significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the cost per mile typically decreases for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to or from Plymouth. Enclosed trailers, while offering more protection, are about 50% more expensive and often have longer delivery times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Seasonal Factors: Plymouth’s harsh winters can affect car shipping prices. Icy roads and snowstorms may lead to higher costs during winter months, while summer tends to be peak season for auto transport nationwide.
- Location Accessibility: Plymouth’s proximity to major highways like I-275 and M-14 can help keep costs down. However, if pickup or delivery is required in more remote areas, it may increase the price.
- Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower prices. Rush or guaranteed delivery services will increase the cost of shipping your car to or from Plymouth.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to transport than inoperable ones, as non-running cars require special equipment for loading and unloading.

Reviews from our Michigan Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Michigan customers:
“Writing a review because I relied heavily on these while deciding which broker company to go with to find someone to transport my car from Utah to Michigan. Some background information…I am a gal in my early 20`s that has NO IDEA how these things work. So if you are in the same position as me, this review is for you haha. I first decided to go through with another company who ended up not being authorized which made me extremely nervous while looking for a new company. I found Sherpa on Forbes and after reading the reviews and seeing that if the car doesn`t get picked up by a driver towards the end of the 5 day period you agree on, they contribute their own money, I decided to go through with Sherpa. One thing I learned is to never put down a down payment with a broker. This is apparently a sketchy practice. Sherpa DOES ask for a card to be on file, but they DO NOT charge it until they find someone to pick up your car. In my case, they contributed $150 of the $300 broker fee towards the payment for the actual driver so I ended up paying Sherpa $150 dollars. I will say, I was nervous that my car wouldn`t get picked up within the 5 day time period, but Sherpa found a driver on the 4th day and it was picked up that same day. They stayed in communication with the company that transported my car the entire way. I would 100% use Sherpa again in the future if I need to transport my car somewhere.”

“I`m in Canada and I have a daughter in the US. I had a vehicle in the US that I wanted to return to Canada. It is a Canadian vehicle. My daughter moved to New York City and she didn`t want the vehicle anymore so I repatriated it to Canada. I googled the top transport companies because I know the margins are very tight and it`s highly competitive so a few extra dollars give you probably a better service. I looked at the reviews on Sherpa. The fellow I spoke with mentioned that Sherpa also was cited by Forbes magazine as the top transport company in ‘22 and that made a big impression on me because Forbes magazine does its research. He also told me to be aware of having those little scanners on your car that charges a toll fee for the Pikepass. He was the only one who mentioned removing those from the vehicle. Otherwise, I would incur the toll charges throughout the transport. I was impressed by that. It felt honest and professional. The pickup was in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the drop-off was in Coleville, Washington. The driver kept in contact with me. I had given him a narrow last few kilometer routes that would have been difficult and before I even contacted him to tell him, “No, take the alternative route that truckers take,†he had already offloaded the vehicle and borrowed just a single vehicle hauler and he brought it up that way. I was impressed. Another thing that made a huge impact on me was there was a very tight window. I opened the window up to five days from three days, and the woman on the phone told me right away, “Well, you get $200 off.†I didn`t know that, and they actually took it off my bill. I was very impressed. They didn’t have to do that. They`re professional and honest.”
“I made a deal on a truck in Michigan, and the dealer wasn`t going to arrange shipping like my previous purchases. They left it up to me, so I had to learn. There are some cutthroats out there that many problems could arise, either the vehicle would show up damaged or they would try to charge you additional funds after they made the deal on the initial contract. On the other hand, Sherpa`s quote was right on, and the reps were top-notch. They answered all my questions and were very polite, and the reputation of their drivers proved to be accurate when I got the vehicle here. They had up to date equipment and professional delivery drivers. I had contact via text saying that the driver picked up the truck, and I was given an approximate time and date that they would be here. I told the driver where to deliver it because of room limitations, and they agreed to that, then they let me know that they were so many minutes out from my home. They were very forthright with their communication. I`ve transported vehicles before. The drivers would initially write down any imperfections of the vehicle when they picked it up, then once I got it to my location, they would go over those imperfections they wrote down whether or not you agree or disagree with it and then I signed off on it. Fortunately, for the drivers, they didn`t write anything down because the truck was in perfect condition. There were no flaws, scratches, scuffs, or dents, which surprised me because I was assured by the dealership that I purchased it from that it was that type of vehicle. The condition of the vehicle was more the responsibility of the dealer that I purchased it from, and more often than not, there are some imperfections, but there weren`t any on this one. Use Sherpa.”
“Sherpa was awesome. They had a good quote and they came through with what was promised. The pickup was in Michigan, while drop-off was in California, and it was about a week. They emailed me updates, then eventually, they texted me how to reach the driver. We made a drop-off date, time, and location and it worked out. They used a big rig to Sacramento, and from Sacramento, they dropped off the car into a different truck, then this truck only had three vehicles on it. It was super easy, and the vehicle`s condition was great. All in all, Sherpa is reliable and I love how they had upfront pricing. They were a bit more expensive than some of the other carriers, but they were honest. I would recommend them 10 out of 10 times.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Plymouth, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Michigan. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
