What our Newton customers say about Sherpa:
“I will definitely recommend Sherpa to anyone who needs to ship a vehicle. Pricing is set in stone, the technicians explain things in detail and follow up with you as the process goes along. I felt very taken care of. James Halbert is the best vehicle shipping carrier ever! They were so kind and detailed at pickup.”
“I would use Sherpa again. When the gentleman came out here to pick it up, we both took pictures of the car all the way around. I watched him load it. He was really careful. The transport was quick. It surprised me. I was really happy about that.”
“Sherpa was awesome. They took care of everything. And made it very clear to me that working with a broker is absolutely the way to go when shipping a car. In April I had to ship my car from Portland OR to Massachusetts. I was driving a different car across the country, so we had to make sure the shipped car was picked up before I left and not dropped off until I arrived.”

Note: These figures reflect the past 12 months of Sherpa Auto Transport’s vehicle shipments to or from Newton, MA. When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Newton Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between Newton, MA and your destination significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the cost per mile typically decreases for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to and from Newton. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection but cost about 50% more and may have longer delivery times.
- Location Accessibility: Newton’s proximity to major routes like I-90 and I-95 can help keep costs down. However, if you’re shipping to or from a less accessible area, it may increase the price.
- Seasonal Factors: Newton’s harsh winters can affect car shipping prices. Icy roads and snowstorms may lead to higher costs or potential delays during winter months.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than smaller cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to transport. If your car doesn’t run, it will require special equipment for loading, increasing the cost.
- Timing and Flexibility: Choosing a wider pickup window can often result in lower prices. Rush or guaranteed delivery dates typically cost more.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from Newton, MA. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Newton car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.

- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major highways like I-90 or I-95. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates potential liability issues for the auto transport company.
- Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better options and potentially lower costs for your Newton, MA car shipping needs.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer when demand for car shipping services is high. Winter months may offer more competitive rates for auto transport to or from Newton.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Newton?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Newton?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Newton
When planning car shipping to or from Newton, MA, it’s crucial to consider the area’s seasonal weather patterns. Newton experiences distinct seasons, each with unique challenges for auto transport.
In winter, Newton often sees heavy snowfall and icy conditions. If you’re scheduling car shipping services during this time:
- Remove snow tires or chains before transport, as carriers can’t accommodate these.
- Ensure pickup and drop-off locations are on level ground to prevent slipping.
- Remove any items that could freeze and potentially damage your vehicle.
Spring and fall in Newton are generally mild, making these ideal seasons for shipping a car. However, be prepared for occasional rain showers that might delay transport.
During summer, temperatures can rise significantly. If you’re using car transport services in warmer months:
- Consider placing a sunshade in your vehicle to protect the interior.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items that could melt or warp.
Beyond weather, timing is crucial for efficient car shipping in Newton. As a college town, Newton sees increased demand for auto transport at the beginning and end of academic semesters. To avoid potential delays and higher costs, consider scheduling your car shipping a few weeks before or after these peak periods.
By keeping these factors in mind, you can ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience when using car shipping services to or from Newton, MA. Always consult with your chosen car shipping company for specific advice tailored to your situation and the current season.
Car Shipping for College Students in Newton, Massachusetts
When considering car shipping to Newton, Massachusetts for college, it’s crucial to understand parking policies at nearby universities. Boston College, located partly in Newton, requires students to register vehicles and purchase parking permits. On-campus parking is limited, so plan ahead. Brandeis University in nearby Waltham also requires parking permits, with different options for residents and commuters. For both schools, consider auto transport services to avoid the hassle of driving long distances. Remember to check if your dorm or apartment includes parking, as it’s not always guaranteed. During winter breaks, inquire about long-term parking options on campus. Given New England’s harsh winters, equip your car with snow tires if you’re shipping a car for year-round use. Lastly, verify that your roadside assistance coverage extends to Massachusetts. By planning ahead and using reliable car shipping services, you can ensure a smooth transition to college life in Newton.
Reviews from our Massachusetts Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Massachusetts customers:
“Sherpa shipped my Chevy Sonic and my wife’s Kia Rio from Orange County, CA to MI. I had a wonderful experience! First of all, I changed dates last minute and they accommodated me no problem! Secondly, the gentlemen that did the actual transporting of our cars were very professional! Even though English was not their first language, they let us know what to expect every step of the way and instilled trust in us. Our cars arrived in beautiful condition! Will use them again.”
“A couple years ago, my wife and I started living in two locations on two coasts. So, we split our time since we`re both retired both in Massachusetts and California. So, we had access to a car while we were here in California. Over the first few years, that car died after a long life. To give us greater flexibility, we decided to ship one of our two cars from Massachusetts to California for our flexibility here. All three estimates that I got were reasonably close to each other. I kicked the highest one out. I viewed this as transactions as long as they were rated reasonably well by previous users of the services. So, it narrowed down to Sherpa. At the end of the day, it turned out really silly. But it was the free car wash at the end. Both companies came out and they each added one service at the end of the kicker to try and win us over. Sherpa was a free carwash, the other one was a free car rental if they didn`t deliver the car when they said they would by a certain date. I was less concerned about that because I can live a day or two without the car where I`m at. I have access to a couple others. So, I said, ‘You know what? I’ll get the free car wash. Make my car look new when we drive it here.’ It`s a silly reason, but it is what it is.”
“I cannot say enough good things both about Sherpa and the carrier they found for me to take my Jeep from California to Massachusetts. The customer service was absolutely wonderful! Pricing was transparent and never changed, not to mention incredibly reasonable given insane inflation and gas prices. While they DO provide door to door service I offered to meet my carrier in a location that was more convenient for his truck. He was professional, kind, and answered all of my questions on site. I felt very comfortable my Jeep was in safe hands. My jeep arrived safely without a single scratch, dent, or windshield crack! Sherpa also answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease as I had previously had a very negative experience with a different broker firm and was nervous needing to do this again. Sherpa puts all of their carriers through a rigorous vetting process, and not just once, literally every time they use a carrier, doesn`t matter if they`ve used them before. I HIGHLY recommend them!”
“First, let me say that I didn`t use Sherpa`s service. Turns out that I didn`t need the transport services. However….I`m still rating them five stars because the process leading up to my final decision was stellar! I live in Seattle and I was going to buy a car in Massachusetts from a dealer. The car was $4,000 less expensive in MA. Looking at many options (road trip + flying) vs. transport, the numbers didn`t lie. Transport was definitely more convenient and cheaper. I worked with Shane and he patiently walked me through the entire process and even shared with me what to ask other companies from whom I was requesting quotes. Shane was great. He even worked with me as I tried to figure out if I drive 1/2 across the country to visit friends and had them transport the rest of the way – would that be cheaper? NOPE. Sherpa also guaranteed their quote, stating if they couldn`t find a carrier to match the quote they gave me, SHERPA would pay the difference. It was a simple deposit process and then cash or cashier`s check to the driver. Everything was explained very well in terms of pick-up, drop-off, reassurances that carrier would communicate, etc. I never felt the same kind of assurances from other companies. And I certainly didn`t feel the same level of customer service as I did from Shane. Didn`t end up buying the car – so I didn`t need Sherpa`s services, but if I ever do – I will call them 1st!”
“I chose Sherpa to transport a vehicle from Massachusetts to Arizona because of their high ratings, and their high ranking on a number of websites that rated auto transport services. Sherpa did not disappoint! Their representatives located a carrier within a day of my request; however, the carrier did not show or call the on the day they were supposed to pick up my vehicle (through no fault of Sherpa). I immediately contacted Sherpa and the representative that I spoke with sincerely apologized stating they have used this particular carrier in the past with no issues. Within a few hours, not only did the Sherpa staff locate a new carrier, but the carrier was at my house to pick up the vehicle within three hours!! The new carrier`s driver was extremely professional, courteous, and flexible as I was not at home when he arrived. My car was delivered to Arizona sooner than I expected and in the same condition that it was in when it left Massachusetts. I am extremely impressed with Sherpa`s customer service, and professional staff!! They went out of the way to ensure that I had a positive experience. I will not hesitate in using Sherpa again, and give them a resounding five out of five stars!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Newton, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Massachusetts. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
