What our Arlington customers say about Sherpa:
“I was gonna relocate from Massachusetts to California so I needed to transport the vehicle. Sherpa had better customer reviews and they’re a little expensive than the other quotes that were provided by others but I still went with them because the time and the quality of the service were better. They were very responsive and very efficient in finding the driver who delivered the vehicle on time.”
“smooth stress free transport of vehicle from Arlington Virginia to North Charleston South Carolina”
“Sherpa was awesome. They took care of everything. And made it very clear to me that working with a broker is absolutely the way to go when shipping a car. In April I had to ship my car from Portland OR to Massachusetts. I was driving a different car across the country, so we had to make sure the shipped car was picked up before I left and not dropped off until I arrived.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Arlington Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Arlington, MA significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than smaller cars. This is due to the extra space and fuel they require during transport.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Arlington. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers added protection from weather and road debris.
- Seasonal Factors: Arlington’s weather can affect car shipping prices. Winter conditions, including snow and ice, may increase costs due to potential delays and the need for specialized equipment.
- Location Accessibility: Arlington’s proximity to major routes like I-95 and Route 2 can help keep costs down. However, if pickup or delivery is required in less accessible areas, prices may increase.
- Timing and Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive rates. Rush or guaranteed delivery services typically come at a premium.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the overall cost of shipping.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from Arlington, MA. Arlington Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When shipping a car to or from Arlington, MA, it’s crucial to be aware of local regulations and prepare for your move. Massachusetts requires all vehicles to pass an annual safety inspection, so ensure your car is up-to-date before arrival. For tolls, many roads use E-ZPass, but if you’re moving away, remember to remove your transponder to avoid unexpected charges.
Vehicle registration in Massachusetts is straightforward. You’ll need to visit the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) within 30 days of establishing residency. Bring your out-of-state title, registration, and proof of insurance. Arlington residents often need residential parking permits, which you can obtain from the Town Hall.
When settling in Arlington, set up utilities early. Eversource provides electricity, while the Arlington Department of Public Works manages water services. For internet, popular providers include Comcast and RCN. Don’t forget to register to vote at the Town Clerk’s office and get your library card from the Robbins Library.
If you’re moving away from Arlington, remember to:
- Cancel local memberships (gyms, clubs)
- Forward your mail through USPS
- Notify your bank and credit card companies
- Transfer or cancel your car insurance
Arlington’s weather can be challenging for car transport. Winters bring heavy snow, so if you’re shipping a car during colder months, prepare for potential delays. The town is conveniently located near major highways like I-95 and Route 2, making it accessible for auto transport services.
Whether you’re moving to enjoy Arlington’s rich history or leaving for new adventures, proper planning ensures a smooth transition. Remember, a reliable car shipping company can take the stress out of transporting your vehicle, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your move.
Arlington, Massachusetts Vehicle Transport FAQs

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Arlington?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Massachusetts Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Massachusetts customers:
“Sherpa gave me a date range and they made it within the range. It was the last day of the range, but they were able to lock in within a day or two of the last day of the range. They told me it would be two to five days, but I got the car the next day from when they picked it up. They picked it up around Washington, DC area and dropped it off in Atlanta. My son was at the pick-up. He said they walked around the car and they took pictures of any dings and dents. It was a pretty seamless process. Once the car was in motion, I had no contact with the courier. During the drop-off, they were able to get to my neighborhood. The problem is, in our neighborhood, they`re relocating some water mains and some sewer lines. So, there are streets that are absolutely closed off, and the navigation system that the driver was using didn`t have that information. So, he got stuck behind a closed street. It was easier for him to just unload the car on a regular street, and then just drive it to the house and my wife took him back to his truck. According to the pictures my son sent me, the car was the exact same as when he picked it up. Sherpa guaranteed the price and we Venmoed the delivery driver and it was the exact same price.”
“There was a lot going on with our move, but Sherpa communicated through emails. I also received a couple of phone calls to schedule the pick-up and then they provided me with basic instructions on shipping the vehicle and what`s not to leave in the car, and ship it on low tank of gas. They also communicated through text message once the driver picked up the car. Overall, I was really satisfied and they were accommodating. We didn`t have anybody to receive the vehicle once they got to Boise, and they couldn`t drop it off at our condo because of the trees. The large hauler could not go down the street with trees because the cars would get scratched. So the driver found a place off the interstate with a hotel, and I was able to call the hotel and pay a weekly parking rate. That was a helpful solution. Everything was cut-and-dry and successful and we were happy with their service.”
“We shipped a vehicle from Virginia to Arizona with no surprises and no problems. The date range was accurate, the driver was courteous and worked with us on the most convenient locations to pick up and drop off the car. I would definitely use this company again.”
“Sherpa was easy to use and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Peter, my driver, was attentive and explained what to expect along every step of the way. I would use Sherpa again and will recommend to my friends and family.”
“From the first phone call, the experience was easy. The phone representative was very friendly and clear regarding the process. It took about a week for my pick up to be scheduled, but that was also clear and easy. I was able to ensure that my car wouldn`t arrive without me and was thrilled to see my car happily undamaged and in the same city as I was!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Arlington, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Massachusetts. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
