What our Hyattsville customers say about Sherpa:
“Pick up was very easy. They told me exactly where to go to. My driver was early, so that was awesome. He called me beforehand just to let me know that he was there, and everything was ready and setup. He did the walk-around, and had all the paperwork ready for me to sign. I asked him how long it usually takes and he said it would take about a week but he would let me know exactly if it would be longer. And exactly a week later, my car was delivered. I got a phone call letting me know where the car will be delivered the next morning. It was delivered right to my new address. It was perfect. They definitely met my expectations. I have recommended Sherpa to someone else.”
“I needed to transport a car to North Carolina and I had a pleasant interaction with the rep at Sherpa Auto Transport. The quote that I was provided with was a little higher than others but I was more comfortable with them and I paid for the quality of service. The lady I spoke with was nice. They offered me some rebate but I haven’t received it yet. Overall, the experience was good and the service was excellent.”
“I rarely leave reviews for things, but I wanted to for Sherpa because it was my first time shipping a vehicle and I chose Sherpa as my broker, and everything went great! They chose West Coast Auto Transport as my carrier (which they assigned very quickly) for shipping my car from WA State to Maryland, and their drivers were so kind and professional. They picked up my car on the first day of the pickup window, and despite a delay in delivery, the carrier gave me an update and the driver for delivery was very communicative about arrival and it truly was door-to-door service!”

Note: These figures reflect the past 12 months of Sherpa Auto Transport’s vehicle shipments to or from Hyattsville, MD. When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Hyattsville Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Hyattsville, MD significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the cost per mile typically decreases for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Hyattsville. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers added protection for high-value vehicles against Maryland’s varied weather conditions.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Seasonal Factors: Auto transport prices in Hyattsville can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months and January often see higher demand and prices, while spring and fall may offer more competitive rates.
- Location Accessibility: Hyattsville’s proximity to major routes like I-95 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway can help keep costs down. However, deliveries to more remote areas may incur additional fees.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower prices. Expedited shipping for urgent moves to or from Hyattsville will typically cost more.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles that can be driven onto the carrier are less expensive to ship than inoperable ones requiring special equipment for loading and unloading.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Hyattsville, MD. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Hyattsville car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-95 or I-495. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Remove personal items: Empty your vehicle before transport. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about personal belongings during shipping.
- Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates can lead to better options and potential savings on your Hyattsville auto transport.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car during off-peak times can result in lower rates and more carrier availability.
- Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good working condition. This can prevent delays and additional costs during the transport process.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Hyattsville?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

Reviews from our Maryland Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Maryland customers:
“We were in transition, moving from California to North Carolina, so we had several vehicles and one of them was an older Jeep Wrangler that I wanted to send to my son. He`s in Baltimore, Maryland. So, it’s from San Diego to Baltimore, Maryland. Our plans were very fluid early in the summer so originally, we arranged with Sherpa to send the vehicle to North Carolina in May. That changed because we figured out that we needed the vehicle in California through the summer. So, I contacted Sherpa and put it on hold until September. They were good to work with. They put it on hold like I requested and followed up several times to make sure things were still on track and to get good timing. Once our plans were firmed up, I was able to reach back out to them and we arranged the transport very quickly. We were living on our boat this summer and the guy came one night. I explained that to him and that we were with the Jeep. This was on the day of the pickup and I told him there was no rush. Any time that night was fine and he could just text me and let me know when he was there and I would meet him out front. And that’s exactly what happened. It was great. We looked over the vehicle and he did probably as good of a job as I did in terms of documenting the condition of the vehicle. Then he was good to go. I didn`t need to watch him load it onto his truck. He did that and I went back down to the boat. It all hinged on communication and it was very good.”
“My son who lives in California is in the army and he bought a car during Christmas in Maryland. He needed to ship the car to California, so I went on Google and searched different sites. I went to the Better Business Bureau as well and after I saw a lot of negative comments about different places that ship cars, I settled on one company, but they were taking a little too long to ship the car. I had to keep calling them back. I already saw Sherpa before, and their price seemed high, but when I went back, it was the average price of all the other ones. They also had a guarantee that they wouldn`t go over a certain amount they quote me, so I picked them. I started online at first, then they quoted me a price and explained to me how it works. I told Sherpa about the other company that I was going to use. There was a problem because, even though I didn`t pay the other company, they had it look like I was booked with them. Sherpa advised me to call the other company to have it cleared up so there would be no confusion in the future, and the price Sherpa gave me never went up. They picked up the car the day they said they would, even though it was pouring down rain outside. I thought there would be a delay. The driver let me know where he was. It was a cool guy who picked the car up. We met at a shopping center and everything went smooth. I walked through the vehicle and video recorded it as well as took pictures. The driver did the same thing I did, but he was a little more thorough than I was. He had a pattern of security for making sure the car didn`t fall, and he checked everything and made sure everything was precise. When the car arrived, my son said there were no issues. He said it was a little dirty, but to be expected.”
“My van broke down in Ohio and I live in Maryland. I wouldn`t wanna get it completely repaired so I needed to transport it. I looked at several companies and then I found Sherpa`s ratings. They had a good price point so I went with them. I had a good experience. I had positive interactions with everybody. They even called me before I called them sometimes to follow up on things, which was great. The quote was pretty fair. If things went up once they quoted me, they were willing to cover the cost, which was great. They were willing to pay the whole process with what the drivers and what was already on the board. It was kind of crazy. They kind of took that stress off me. The delivery went well. They did it in the time window that they gave me. The gentleman came, dropped it off and shook my hand. I signed a bill of lading, got a copy of it, and he was off. Overall, it was a good process. The customer service was great. They kept the customer out of the weeds of the whole process between driver`s bidding on pickups versus what you pay. I also like how they have the little gift card as an incentive.”
“Thank you so much for the fabulous experience we recently had transporting our car with Sherpa. Just as states starting closing down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our daughter`s car died. She is an ICU nurse at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and would have taken the bus if the social distancing order was not in effect. We had an extra car for her to use in North Carolina but couldn`t get it to her because of the quarantine order in Maryland. When I explained our situation to Fern in your Charlotte office, she was extremely sympathetic and helpful. After three days without a driver taking our route, Sherpa waived its fee and offered its portion of the transport cost in order to give incentive to a driver to deliver our car. A driver was assigned that day, and our daughter received the car the following day. She was grateful beyond words, as were we. Thank you for working to protect our daughter as she is already on the frontline in healthcare. We have spread the word wherever we can about Sherpa`s willingness to look beyond the profit in order to help someone in need.”
“I needed to have my vehicle shipped from Arizona to Maryland. I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport based on the Google reviews. My selection of this company was due to the contact and information provided by their representative Danielle. She explained the process to me answered all my questions. I gave them a pickup date and that was the date my vehicle was picked up. They provided me with an estimate delivery date and my delivery happened before the that estimate date. I was very pleased with the driver who contacted me when he was in the area to let me know the delivery day and time. He kept true to his word in contacting and delivery. Thank you Sherpa for giving me peace of mind in the delivery of my vehicle.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Hyattsville, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Maryland. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
