What our Olathe customers say about Sherpa:
“Having never using a auto transport service I was quite nervous to do so. After much research, and reading some scary stories, I found Sherpa. Still apprehensive about transporting my new vehicle, I chose them. They did an excellent job. The customer service was awesome. I highly recommend Sherpa and would use them again if needed.”
“This was my first time ever shipping a car and it was a great experience! Will with Sherpa answered every question I had, was quick to respond to all of my questions, and even gave me some questions to ask other car transport companies while I was researching companies. I ultimately came back to Sherpa. I also appreciated the price lock guarantee. I booked the car transport late Friday, and Will followed up the next day with me to confirm the details. I had no set schedule for when I needed the car delivered, but they found a driver right away. My car was picked up in Kansas City on Monday evening and delivered Wednesday night to my home in California in perfect shape. The driver was communicative and efficient. I couldn`t believe how fast and easy the process was. Thank you, Sherpa!”
“I used this company to transport my car from Kansas to Florida. I was very skeptical going into this process, but SHERPA did exactly what they said they were going to do. They found a company for the price they quoted me, I paid exactly what I was expected to pay and my car arrived on time and in perfect condition. I highly recommend this company to anyone especially if you don’t know which company to trust.”

Factors that affect Olathe Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between Olathe, KS and your destination significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer journeys.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Olathe. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection for high-value vehicles during Kansas’s varied weather conditions.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Olathe’s proximity to major highways like I-35 and I-435 can help reduce shipping costs. However, if your destination is in a less accessible area, prices may increase.
- Seasonal Factors: Car shipping prices to and from Olathe can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months and January often see higher demand and prices. Winter weather in Kansas can also affect transport times and costs.
- Delivery Timeframe: If you need expedited shipping to or from Olathe, expect to pay more. Flexible pickup and delivery dates can help reduce costs.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship as they require special equipment for loading and unloading.
Understanding these factors can help you better estimate your car shipping costs to or from Olathe, KS. For a more detailed breakdown of pricing factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for multiple pickups in Olathe, KS.
- Choose open transport: Open shipping is typically more affordable than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower prices while still providing reliable car shipping services.
- Optimize pickup/dropoff locations: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like I-35 or K-10. This can reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall auto transport expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item security during transport.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your Olathe car shipping needs. Consider weekday transport options, which may be less expensive than weekend services.

Vehicle Requirements: Kansas doesn’t have strict vehicle inspection laws, but it’s wise to ensure your car is in good condition before transport. The Kansas Department of Revenue handles vehicle registration, and you’ll need proof of insurance, title, and a completed application.
Toll Information: While Olathe itself doesn’t have toll roads, nearby Kansas City does. If you have a K-TAG for Kansas tolls, remember to remove it before car shipping to avoid unnecessary charges. For those moving to Olathe, consider getting a K-TAG for easier travel on Kansas toll roads.

Olathe, Kansas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Olathe?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Olathe. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Olathe?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Olathe?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Olathe?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.
Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. When planning car shipping to or from Olathe, KS, it’s crucial to consider the seasonal weather patterns that can impact your auto transport experience. Olathe experiences a humid continental climate with distinct seasons, each presenting unique challenges for car shipping services.
In winter, Olathe can face significant snowfall and icy conditions. If you’re scheduling car transport during this time:
- Ensure your vehicle is equipped with all-season tires, as carriers cannot transport cars with snow chains.
- Choose pickup and drop-off locations on level ground to prevent slipping in icy conditions.
- Remove any items from your car that could freeze and potentially damage the interior.
During the summer months, Olathe experiences hot and humid weather. When shipping a car in these conditions:
- Consider placing a sunshade under the windshield to protect the interior from excessive heat.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items that could melt or warp in high temperatures.
Beyond weather considerations, it’s important to be aware of peak car shipping times in Olathe. As home to several colleges and universities, the city sees increased demand for auto transport services at the beginning and end of academic semesters. To avoid potential delays and higher costs:
- Plan your car shipping a few weeks before or after the typical school moving periods.
- Book your car transport well in advance during these busy times.
By considering these seasonal factors, you can ensure a smoother and more efficient car shipping experience in Olathe, KS. Always consult with your chosen car shipping company for the most up-to-date advice on transporting your vehicle safely and efficiently throughout the year.

Reviews from our Kansas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Kansas customers:
“I bought a car out on the East Coast and I needed to get back here to Kansas. I read a review on Sherpa and that convinced me to go with them over everybody else. Customer service did good. They answered all my questions and were super concerned about getting it right and getting somebody. Sherpa is nothing more than a load broker. I`m a little bit on the inside of it. My business is not that much different than what they do. I understand most of these load brokers. I really have a high degree of skepticism against these load brokers because I deal with them in my own business and they`re just a bunch of snakes. Once they have your freight, you`re a hostage and you can`t do anything about it. I was trying to really do my due diligence. Sherpa`s representative really gave me a good hype and comfort level that they were gonna do their part. But they have no control over who they line up to pick up my load. All they`re doing is brokering it and they make 300 bucks in the middle, which is fine. I`m sure they have some sort of a vetting process that they try and do when they`re dealing with their carriers. But as far as Sherpa`s end of the deal, they went above and beyond. The transport company`s communication was good. But there were some issues. When the car showed up, there was some damage on it that wasn`t noted on the bill of lading. Sherpa was super thorough about making sure pictures were taken. The bill of lading is extraordinarily detailed. They noted things that I couldn`t even see. Some of the damagers, however, that I could see were not noted. I pointed that out to the driver and he wanted to fight me over the whole thing. He was not even open to a conversation that perhaps that damage could have occurred in transit. He wouldn`t listen and accused me of not wanting to pay him. I ended up paying him. I was like, “Well, what are we gonna do, a fistfight in the parking lot?” I was trying to take the high road. One other thing that I discovered was the seller of the car put the license plate, the registration, and the proof of insurance inside the car when he sent it. He laid it inside the cabin of the car. When I got the car, none of that stuff was present. The seller could have somehow overlooked, But I 100% trust this guy as I know him and we`ve done business for 30 years. They have no motivation to do anything other than what he said. But it was there and then it wasn`t. In order to get a new license plate it, I had to go to my police station. My guess is somebody between here and New Hampshire is driving around with my license plate on a different car. I can`t prove that though. Given this and the issue with the damage, these kind of things add up to maybe this driver needs a little more scrutiny. I made Sherpa aware of the driver issue and I followed up and told them about the missing license plate, a registration, and a proof of insurance that was in the car. They never responded to that one. Other than that, Sherpa did everything they were supposed to.”
“I called several companies and decided to use Sherpa. I read a lot of reviews saying that there were a lot of scammers out there adding cost at delivery, and Sherpa has a price guarantee, which turned out we had to use. The reviews online also put them on top, even though I could find some that were less expensive and some that were more expensive. Their reps were very responsive. In fact, when I hadn`t heard something for a while and because it was gonna be the next week that my pickup was supposed to be, I called and they said that`s not uncommon. They assured me that everything would be okay. The 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was shipped uncovered. They said they had covered as an option, but it was more costly. Sherpa subcontracts to various vendors and it might have been the first time that they used the vendor they ended up with, but it was fine. The only thing was the number of hours in advance for telling me when the car would be picked up or dropped off weren`t accurate, but they were all within the same day. For example, when my brother got a call from the driver, he said he could drop it off in an hour, and my brother said, “Well, I got an MRI. I`m not gonna be here.” However, it wasn`t a problem because it turned out my brother`s spouse was able to be home and they came and it worked out fine.”
“I had an easy experience with Sherpa. I called and everybody was responsive. The transport went just fine. I`m 100% satisfied. Todd was very nice. The car got there perfectly and it was when he said. He ran a little late, but he was in contact with me. He picked it up in Calabasas, California at my apartment and dropped it off at my brother`s. The car got here before I did. It took two days. When he picked it up, I said, “This is my baby. Take good care.” I was able to put some hats in there that weren`t gonna be easy to transport in the move. I asked him if that was okay and he was fine. I filled up the back seat with all my hats. They all got there just fine. The delivery was good. My brother lives on a major street on Swift Avenue in Kansas City. Todd showed up and my brother had the cash to pay him. He backed the car out and my brother put it in the garage. Everything went great.”
“Online, it says Sherpa is the best one to go with. So, I got some confidence in going with Sherpa. My experience was great. The vehicle was picked up from Overland Park, Kansas to Early, Texas. Within overnight, the vehicle came. As soon as they picked up, they started coming to Texas and then they transported very quickly. The next day morning at 6:00 am, I got the call saying, “We are ready to deliver it.” The driver replied to my text and calls, and he`s such a good guy. He responded to everything. He even changed the tracking of the vehicle and I even got the updates from him. Everything went smoothly. The driver and I looked over the vehicle, and what was inside and outside the vehicle. The driver himself took almost 70 images of the vehicle including every inch of the vehicle to see if everything is good. It was the same way when it was delivered.”
“This process of shipping my vehicle couldn’t have been any better than it was. From the time I made my first call to Sherpa and spoke with a very professional and knowledgeable customer service agent lady to the gentleman who picked up and delivered my vehicle. Only thing I would’ve changed was I was only given a 30 minute heads up that my vehicle was going to be picked up. I had to leave work to make it happen but it all worked out. Thank you so much for a great experience!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Olathe, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Kansas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.

Be wary of unusually low quotes or companies that demand large upfront deposits. A reliable car shipping company should offer transparent pricing and clear communication throughout the process. By carefully evaluating these aspects, you can select a trustworthy partner to safely ship your car to or from the heart of Johnson County.
