What our Decatur customers say about Sherpa:
“I am sooo thankful I saw a TikTok mentioning this company. I was in the process of shipping my car from California to Georgia and all of the car brokers I experienced were trying to scam me by offering a low upfront cost and then the day before pick up say they had an issue with a driver and I need to pay more. I called Sherpa and they told me that this is a common scam in the transport business and reassured me that while the price they offered me is high, it will remain the price with no surprises.”
“I had a challenging shipping request and the friendly, dedicated staff worked until the last possible moment to find me a carrier. They honored the price lock guarantee, and the actual driver was professional and in constant contact. I would absolutely use them again.”
“EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! After searching for numerous auto transport companies to transport a vehicle from Georgia to California, I decided to go with Sherpa. I was in contact with Dylan throughout the entire process from the beginning of the quote until pick up day. He managed to schedule within a weeks notice without any issues. The quote never changed, not like other companies kept giving me a different rate each time I called.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Decatur Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Decatur, GA. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel consumption and driver time increase.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to Decatur. While enclosed trailers offer extra protection from Georgia’s occasional severe weather, they’re typically 50% more expensive and may have longer delivery times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship to Decatur due to the extra space and weight they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Decatur’s proximity to major highways like I-20 and I-285 can help reduce shipping costs. However, deliveries to more remote areas outside the city may incur additional fees.
- Seasonal Demand: Auto transport prices to Decatur may fluctuate with seasonal demand. Summer months and January often see higher rates due to increased relocation activity.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship to Decatur as they require special equipment for loading and unloading.
- Timing Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive rates for car shipping to Decatur, GA.
Understanding these factors can help you estimate your car shipping costs to or from Decatur more accurately. For a detailed breakdown of pricing factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Decatur car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes, potentially bundling your vehicle with others along I-20 or I-285 for better rates.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping offers the most competitive prices for auto transport to or from Decatur, GA. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport provides greater flexibility for negotiating lower rates.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like I-285 or US-23. This can significantly reduce fuel costs, potentially lowering your overall car shipping price.
- Lighten your load: Remove personal items from your vehicle before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during the auto transport process.
- Stay flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can lead to better car shipping options and potential cost savings. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of more economical auto transport opportunities to or from Decatur.

Decatur, Georgia Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Decatur?

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Decatur?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Decatur?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Decatur?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Georgia Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Georgia customers:
“There was a website that took me to the top five rated transport services and it kinda gave their pros and cons, the things that they’re really good at. I determined that Sherpa was gonna be what best suited our needs based on the fact that they could give a pretty precise window of pick-up versus some of the other companies. I called a couple of other people as well and we got quotes. I don’t think Sherpa Auto Transport had the lowest price but we were most comfortable with them and they were very reasonable in terms of price. We were going from Atlanta to New Jersey. One thing that I appreciated about Sherpa was that you give them your dates, they tell you if that window works, and you pay them so much upfront as soon as your driver is assigned and the rest goes to the driver. But they have a policy where if they can’t get a driver assigned, and you’re kind of in the middle or near the end of your window, they will take what you’re supposed to pay to them and start pushing that towards the driver side to incentivize somebody to want to take the route, which ended up happening to us. The timing with the original driver who was going to take our shipment wasn’t gonna work for us. They called and said the driver could be there in an hour, which would leave us little time to prepare. Sherpa shifted some of the money and we were able to get a driver who could pick us up and work with us on the time and it was great. Leading right up to the process, Sherpa was in touch with me via e-mail and phone, trying to get us taken care of. And then once the driver was assigned, the driver reached out directly and we had direct communication the entire time. The driver said they would call the morning it was supposed to be delivered so we could figure out the exact times and delivery method and that was exactly what happened. The driver came right when he said he was gonna come, met me right where he said he was gonna meet me, and they were able to drop off the car. It really worked out.”
“I never considered shipping a vehicle, but when the need arose – I`m glad I selected Sherpa. The customer service and frequency of communication was impressive. From pre-pickup to post delivery, Sherpa representatives stayed in contact. I even received a few calls from the delivery driver to update me on the expected delivery date. I would definitely do it again!”
“After reading so many horrible reviews about so many different companies out there. I am so happy to say Sherpa Auto Transport made shipping my car so effortless. When you go online to get your first quote, I was bombarded with so many different companies trying to lowball you and trying to get your business. There are so many shady companies out there, please please please read the reviews before book. I sought out Sherpa Transport after reading their reviews on BBB, and let me tell you they did not disappoint. My car was shipped from ATL to Washington state. They called me confirming everything. If I had any questions, their customer service was great. I would definitely ship my car again through this company.”
“Loved this company for my AZ to GA car transport! Decided to use Sherpa Auto Transport since the reviews were great. Started the online process and got my quote right then and there, which was valid for a day or 2. Pricing was super competitive and they offered a rebate (currently still waiting for that) but the process was super simple! Sherpa called me the week of my move and confirmed they had a carrier. The entire process was smooth from the signing up, to pick up and car drop off. And I like how they reimbursed for a car wash! I would definitely use this company again.”
“First time shipping a vehicle, and with an expedited pickup requirement. Based on their high review ratings, we didn`t bother with contacting other companies. We`re very glad we chose Sherpa! They were helpful, professional, communicative and reasonably priced making for an easy process from start to finish. The dispatcher and driver assigned our transport were terrific! Our car was delivered across country timely and with care. Would definitely recommend and use Sherpa again.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Decatur, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Georgia. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
