Factors that Affect Auto Transport Costs

  • Book Early. We recommend booking car transport at least two weeks out.
  • Be Flexible. Certain days of the week & time of the year can be more expensive.
  • Enclosed auto transport vs open car shipping. Special vehicles require a fully enclosed car shipping trailer. Enclosed trailers offer protection & peace of mind, but are significantly more expensive.
  • Vehicle Size. Full size Pickup Trucks cost more to ship than Compact Cars.
  • Location, Location, Location. For your convenience, we strive to make all shipments door to door. However, if you are in a remote location, consider selecting a location closer to an interstate to help reduce your car shipping cost.

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

“It didn’t take me too long to get my date I wanted to sent my car from Crestview, Florida to Denver Colorado. I gave Shane the date May 23rd I asked for and the driver arrived on that day I asked for. The dispatcher from the company assigned for me were incredible, the lady dispatcher were on top of informing me on date when the driver will come to pick my car.”

Yelp
★★★★★

“We had two cars to transport from south florida to San Diego. Our sons are both marines newly stationed in CA and they needed their cars. I spoke to another transport company who quote $2500 per car. When I said I wanted to get other quotes, I was sternly informed that I would not find nothing better. Lol.”

Google
★★★★★

“I recently had death in my family and had to get my uncle’s car from Florida to Maryland. The paperwork to change ownership of the car was slow, but Sherpa Auto Transport stayed in touch with me. They called once a week to ensure me that the price we had initially agreed to would still be honored.”

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

  • Book early: Schedule your Town n Country car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
  • Choose open transport: Open car shipping is typically more affordable than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower rates.
  • Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like I-275 or Veterans Expressway. This can reduce fuel costs and potentially lower your car transport price.
  • Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues during auto transport.
  • Be flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can help you secure better car shipping services options and potentially lower costs.
  • Consider seasonal timing: Town n Country’s mild winters make it an attractive destination year-round. However, shipping during off-peak seasons may offer more competitive rates for your car transport needs.

Town n Country, Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs

How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Town n Country?

See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Town n Country. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Town n Country?

Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Town n Country?

The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.

How do I pay for my auto transport to Town n Country?

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.

Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?

Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?

Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.

What types of vehicles can you transport?

We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. “My fiancée is a wizard when it comes to doing her due diligence and finding the best companies and reading reviews. I asked her to pull her magic and let me know what she thought, and Sherpa was in the top five transport companies and were actually the first ones to answer the phone or respond to my call. Joseph was the gentleman that I talked to. He was very professional and friendly. He made me feel very comfortable with using the company to broker the deal for me. Top Line Auto Service based out of California dropped the car off. The two brothers met me. I had spoken to Joseph on the phone, and figured out what direction they were coming from, which was east from Florida. And based on where I live, I gave them the best place that I thought would be the easiest to pull up an 18-wheeler, and with a truckload of cars, to offload it and meet them to where they could easily get back on the interstate again and go about their day without having to snake through city traffic. We got that place lined up. It was a few miles away from my house. They called me numerous times when they were on the way and got there. The car was dirty, but I expected it to be. It was raining and it was an open truck. But other than that, no damage to the vehicle. The brothers were incredibly friendly and professional people that if I had to use anybody again, I would recommend them and Sherpa. I was very worried throughout the process because I have never purchased a vehicle that I have never seen before, or even driven or heard it idle. They got it to me and it was in good shape. And everything was good. I enjoyed it. Plus they were cool. They had a very exotic, classic car on the truck and they had to offload it to get my car off. They opened the doors and let me peek my head in and take a look at it, and I drooled a bit at how cool the car was. Sherpa`s quote was better than anything that I had received other than ones that were scams. I`ve never done this before. I just signed up online and I was hammered with emails and phone calls from a lot of people that were trying to, “Oh, I`ll beat this price. I`ll do this price.†And I was getting quotes that seemed too good to be true, and they were, because once I went and got my fiancée to do her magic and look these particular companies up, she was like, “Yeah, that`s gonna be a no. Each one of those has terrible reviews and they`re scams.†Because they quoted me 500 bucks, $600, that type of stuff. What Sherpa quoted me wasn`t gonna fluctuate. If it did, they would apply money towards it if need be. It was right on the money. The transport was part of my car purcahsing process that was the fastest, streamlined and very much worth the money that I paid for.”

“The initial quote was more than reasonable given the short turnaround time that I needed. In my uncle`s shipping, Sherpa had to use their guaranteed thing. It`s $300 give or take once they issued the quote to the customer. I contacted them on a Thursday or Friday of the week before and they went through the weekend and they let me know that they would be closing down Saturday evening. My uncle was a little worried and I told him that the people have to have downtime and we`d hear from them by Sunday evening. Sure enough, around 7:00 in the evening, an email came across saying that they were still working on getting the driver. Having dealt with car transport before, they`re all on the same leaderboard. Once the car description is put in, everybody`s looking at it and they know exactly who`s been selected and it doesn`t pay to jump around. The pickup was in a rural part of Florida and I was concerned that it was off of a major highway. But that didn`t make a difference. Once they made their commitment that they would pick up the car around 4:00 on that Wednesday, they were there on point. We were able to put a few boxes in the car that I would have had to pay UPS or ship my uncle`s personal things. But I made sure that there was no obstruction of view and the front seat was completely clear of anything. They exceeded the expectations in terms of delivery. We weren`t expecting it until Saturday or Sunday. But they were there before 4:00 on that Friday, which would have been the 27th of August. When they called me, I was at the gas station in Orlando. My uncle was at his home in Live Oak. Once the guy told me what the deposit was going to be because that had changed, I said, “Give me five minutes to call my uncle and let him know that you`re going to be calling him and give him your name because he`ll be giving you his financial information for payment.” He did that and he had cash available to pay them when the car dropped. Also, my uncle placed the Bible on the dash of his vehicle and he told me that the service was so good that the Bible was in the exact same spot when the car arrived. They took pictures and there were no scratches, no dents, and no oil leaks from other cars. They couldn`t have made my uncle happier. Sherpa would be number one on my list without a question and I would recommend them.”

“I purchased a vehicle that was located in Florida and I`m located in Connecticut. So, I needed to transport the vehicle. I went online and Googled transportation companies. For the most part, choosing Sherpa had to do with the reviews that I was seeing on Google. They were good. I dealt with three people and everybody was very professional. They gave me a price right up front and there weren’t any shenanigans. As it turned out, I was able to even get a $100 rebate on my original price because I asked them. So that was great, too. There were no changes in the price once it was set up. They put it on the board and within an hour or two, it was accepted. The final company that picked it up got in touch with me and it all went very smoothly. The driver was concerned about getting into the development where I live and having so many cobblestones because it`s a tractor trailer. But he did a very good job. He contacted me before he got here and to let me know he was an hour away. Sherpa did a nice job photographing the vehicle and they picked it up down in Florida. They took all the pictures of any kind of dings or scratches. The only thing that I would suggest is that they allow you to see that on the bill of lading before they get here. I didn`t get a bill of lading until the driver showed up and he took pictures of the car after he took it off the trailer. Then, that was added to the bill of lading. I would have liked to have seen that before I accepted delivery of the vehicle. I had to give the driver a check for 500 bucks when he took the vehicle off the trailer but there was no way for me to look at the car. It meant that I would have to go back to them. You couldn`t do that right when he took the car off the trailer. But the bill of lading was sent to me immediately after he took the pictures and I signed for it. It was right in my email immediately, so that was good. Everything was very smooth with my experience with Sherpa and the car even got here a day early.”

“We purchased a vehicle in Florida and needed it transferred to California. I called a couple of companies and Sherpa had the better price. They had some good reviews too. I spoke with their guy to set up the transport. I had to change dates because the paperwork didn’t go through and they changed it for me. It was an easy setup. From the day the vehicle was picked it up to drop-off, that was seven days. The driver was a really good guy. I had his number and the truck had LoJack on it so I could keep track of the vehicle. It was fun. The app would tell you if your car exceeds the maximum limit and I kept getting these notifications. You could see he was on the interstate highway and cruising along. He never exceeded the limit by that much. The driver picked up three cars in Florida and they all got dropped off in California. We were the first drop-off. When he got to New Mexico, I thought we were gonna get the car in three days. But he stayed in New Mexico for two days. On the whole, he got the vehicle to us within the timeframe told to us, which was six or seven days. The delivery was done at night. The driver was busting his butt to get here for us. We live in a rural community in the mountains and the roads are a little curvy and narrow. I was a little worried for him. He called me as he had no way of telling how far he was out because it was not freeways. It was 9:30 and he wanted to know if that was okay. We went down to the gas station and met him there. He unloaded the vehicle and we looked at it. We gave him a good tip and he was super friendly. I was very worried because he was going down through a canyon that is narrow and curvy, and that was very difficult for larger vehicles. He was pulling a really long trailer. But he did it. I texted him the next morning and he said he made it.”

“I asked Sherpa for an enclosed container to transport a car versus the open carrier. The first one they got fell through but within two hours, they found another. They picked the car up on Saturday morning and I got it Monday morning. So, I was pleased with that. But what I was more pleased with was them being honest with me. They had good reviews, too and this contract carrier they used did a nice job. My vehicle was transported from Florida to Virginia and I was told when they were going to pick it up. After they picked it up, I heard from the driver in the afternoon on Sunday. I was told that they could be here the next morning and said they`d be here at 8:00 a.m, and they were actually here about 7:50, which was even better. So, they came when they said they were going to come. They also said they`d call at least 12 hours before delivery but they called a little longer than that period, which was even better to get a little more time. All in all, everybody did what they said they were going to do and I was pleased.”

What is Car Shipping?

Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Town n Country, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.

About the Car Shipping Industry

Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Florida. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
