What our Tamiami customers say about Sherpa:
“Top Line Auto Service based out of California dropped the car off. The two brothers met me. I had spoken to Joseph on the phone, and figured out what direction they were coming from, which was east from Florida. And based on where I live, I gave them the best place that I thought would be the easiest to pull up an 18-wheeler, and with a truckload of cars, to offload it and meet them to where they could easily get back on the interstate again and go about their day without having to snake through city traffic.”
“It didn’t take me too long to get my date I wanted to sent my car from Crestview, Florida to Denver Colorado. I gave Shane the date May 23rd I asked for and the driver arrived on that day I asked for. The dispatcher from the company assigned for me were incredible, the lady dispatcher were on top of informing me on date when the driver will come to pick my car.”
“We had two cars to transport from south florida to San Diego. Our sons are both marines newly stationed in CA and they needed their cars. I spoke to another transport company who quote $2500 per car. When I said I wanted to get other quotes, I was sternly informed that I would not find nothing better. Lol.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Tamiami Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey is a key factor in Tamiami car shipping costs. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but the per-mile rate often decreases for longer trips.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, generally cost more to ship than smaller cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Type: Open auto transport is the most common and affordable option for Tamiami car shipping. Enclosed transport, while pricier, offers extra protection from Florida’s occasional severe weather but is usually only necessary for high-value or classic cars.
- Season: Auto transport to and from Tamiami can be influenced by seasonal factors. Summer months and January tend to see higher demand and prices due to snowbirds and vacation travel.
- Route Popularity: Shipping to or from Tamiami’s urban areas or along major routes like I-75 or the Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) is often more cost-effective than to remote locations.
- Timeframe: If you need expedited shipping to or from Tamiami, expect to pay more. Flexible pickup and delivery dates can help reduce costs.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship as they require special equipment for loading and unloading.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from Tamiami, FL. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from Tamiami, FL.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-75 or Florida’s Turnpike. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and potentially lower your overall shipping price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove all personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates potential liability issues.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the more options you’ll have for cost-effective shipping. Consider locations slightly outside Tamiami if it means better rates or faster service.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak shipping seasons like summer and early fall when demand is high. Winter months often see lower rates for car transport services.
- Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good running condition. A well-maintained vehicle is easier to load and unload, potentially speeding up the process and reducing costs.

Navigating the car shipping process in Tamiami, FL can be a breeze with the right preparation. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you smoothly transport your vehicle to or from this vibrant Miami suburb:
- Get an instant quote: Start by obtaining a free online quote from a reputable auto transport company. This will give you a clear idea of costs based on factors like vehicle type, distance, and shipping method.
- Book your shipment: Once you’re satisfied with the quote, lock in your car shipping service. Remember, nothing is usually due upfront, and you’ll typically pay the initial fee only when a carrier is assigned.
- Prepare your vehicle: Before the pickup date, thoroughly wash and inspect your car. Document any existing damage with photos. Remove personal items and ensure your gas tank is no more than a quarter full. For a comprehensive checklist, check out our guide on how to ship a car.
- Consider Tamiami’s climate: Given Florida’s humid subtropical climate, consider enclosed auto transport to protect your vehicle from sudden rainstorms or intense sun exposure during transit.
- Plan for local logistics: Tamiami’s proximity to major highways like the Tamiami Trail (U.S. 41) and the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) makes it easily accessible for auto transporters. However, be prepared for potential traffic delays, especially during rush hours or tourist seasons.
- Meet the carrier: On pickup day, you or an authorized representative will meet the driver, hand over the keys, and perform an inspection.
- Track your shipment: While your car is in transit, stay informed about its progress through regular updates from your auto transport company.
- Receive your vehicle: Upon delivery, inspect your car thoroughly before signing the final paperwork and paying any remaining balance.
By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth car shipping experience to or from Tamiami, FL. Remember, choosing a reliable car transport company is key to a stress-free process.
Tamiami Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations

Tamiami, Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Tamiami?

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Tamiami?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Tamiami?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Tamiami?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. Reviews from our Florida Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Florida customers:
“At two different times, I spoke to two people who were both very helpful and knowledgeable. Price-wise, Sherpa Auto Transport was the same as everyone. They were all within the same ballpark of each other. But I felt they were more comfortable after speaking to them. Also, I could see why they had the reviews because they were exactly like it was when talking to them. And everything was smooth. They offered a free car wash. Everything was wonderful. I submitted the thing through online, and they sent an email back with the quote. It was a day later, they called to go over a couple of things. I`m in South Florida and the car would go to Boston, and the tires in Florida were not the type of tires I need for winter up north. So, that would cause a delay because we had to wait for the tires to come in. She said, “No problem. I`ll make a note in the system so we can still hold on to the quote we gave you and you don`t lose the price. And as soon as you know when the tires will be in and when you can do this, just let us know.””
“If you`ve never used a transport company, read this first . . . One thing to know is if you fill out any form online, you will be bombarded with thirty phone calls, texts, and emails — 30 for each. It was non-stop. My fault for not thinking. Next thing to know is that there are many scam artists who will take your money. Nothing against call centers in another country but the manipulating tactics of these “salesman” made me uncomfortable. We had two cars to transport from south florida to San Diego. Our sons are both marines newly stationed in CA and they needed their cars. I spoke to another transport company who quote $2500 per car. When I said I wanted to get other quotes, I was sternly informed that I would not find nothing better. Lol.”
“I`ve had horrible experiences making calls a 2 yrs ago, planning a move and needing my car shipped. I was getting hammered for a couple weeks by annoying calls, texts, and emails from many transport companies that didn`t seem legit. Fast forward, my moving plans fell through, and this time around, I took my time researching for reliable transport companies. I stumbled upon Sherpa reviews here, which made me more comfortable and confident to call, needing my car shipped from San Diego to Florida. Customer service was excellent with my first call, explained how transport works, they aren`t like the companies that have hundreds of random people calling, texting, and emailing, asked for a window date I needed my car picked up, and got a quote done. I felt great after the call.”
“Just used them to transport my mom`s old 1993 Del Sol from Inverness, FL to Pittsburgh, PA. Created the request on Sat 7 Oct. Same day I received confirmation of the booking and price (lower than the other companies I contacted). Received an email on Sun 8 Oct that they were still searching for a driver. On Mon 9 Oct, I received an email indicating a driver was located. At 3 PM I received a call informing me the driver would like to pick up at 6 PM the same day. Wow that was quick. Driver arrived at 6:40 pm on Mon 9 Oct – first working day after my initial contact. The driver did call me directly to confirm the person she was to obtain the car from – my sister. Since the truck was so large and my Pittsburgh location is down narrow streets, I decided to change the delivery location to a barely used strip mall directly off the interstate.”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Tamiami, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Florida. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
