What our St. Augustine customers say about Sherpa:
“I arranged for shipping my daughter’s vehicle from Florida to California. When I called Sherpa’s 800 number the process was fully explained, which was important to me as it was the first time I ever shipped a car. The car was picked up a day or two outside of the originally scheduled window but that was OK with me — Sherpa kept me constantly informed of the situation. The driver of the transport was very professional and took great care in loading the vehicle. The car actually arrived across the country ahead of the promised window, so the end-to-end process was timely in St. Augustine.”
“Joseph was the gentleman that I talked to. He was very professional and friendly. He made me feel very comfortable with using the company to broker the deal for me. Top Line Auto Service based out of California dropped the car off. The two brothers met me. I had spoken to Joseph on the phone, and figured out what direction they were coming from, which was east from Florida. And based on where I live, I gave them the best place that I thought would be the easiest to pull up an 18-wheeler, and with a truckload of cars, to offload it and meet them to where they could easily get back on the interstate again and go about their day without having to snake through city traffic.”
“Setting up the transport was really easy. It took one phone call and it was done. Sherpa called me and I didn’t have to wait. The car came a day sooner than expected. The guy who shipped it emailed me once they pick it up. The guy who drove it down was really nice to me. He called me ahead of time and let me know when I could be there. It was dark. So he was worried about me being by the side of the road. So that was nice of him. But everything went really smoothly in Florida. If I was ever needing to ship a car again, I would do it with Sherpa.”

Factors that affect St. Augustine Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between pickup and drop-off locations significantly impacts car shipping costs to and from St. Augustine, FL. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the cost per mile typically decreases for longer journeys.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to St. Augustine. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection from Florida’s intense sun and occasional tropical storms but are about 50% more expensive and may have longer delivery times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship to St. Augustine due to the space they occupy on the carrier and their weight.
- Time of Year: Summer months and January are peak seasons for car shipping to St. Augustine, often resulting in higher prices. The influx of snowbirds and tourists during these times increases demand for auto transport services.
- Route Popularity: St. Augustine’s location near I-95 makes it more accessible for car carriers, potentially reducing costs. However, shipping to less traveled areas of St. Johns County might increase prices.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lead to more competitive pricing for car shipping to St. Augustine. Expedited services will increase the cost significantly.
- Vehicle Condition: Inoperable vehicles cost more to ship to St. Augustine as they require special equipment for loading and unloading.
Understanding these factors can help you plan and budget for your car shipping needs to or from St. Augustine, FL. - Choose open transport: Open shipping provides the lowest rates and most flexibility for negotiating prices when transporting your car to or from St. Augustine.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-95, which runs just west of St. Augustine. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers.

St. Augustine, Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from St. Augustine?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from St. Augustine. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from St. Augustine?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from St. Augustine?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to St. Augustine?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.
Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.

Reviews from our Florida Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Florida customers:
“Outstanding company! I recently had death in my family and had to get my uncle’s car from Florida to Maryland. The paperwork to change ownership of the car was slow, but Sherpa Auto Transport stayed in touch with me. They called once a week to ensure me that the price we had initially agreed to would still be honored. They were very compassionate about my situation. They said as soon as I told them the car was ready, they would find a driver. Each step of the way, Sherpa Auto Transport followed up with an email. As soon as I told them the paperwork was in order, I got a call and an email within 20 minutes telling me the driver was ready to pick the car up. LMK Logistics showed up 30 minutes later. The driver was very courtesy, and I could tell he had many years of experience with loading and securing vehicles on the truck. My sister got the car within 24 hours telling her that the driver was about 30 minutes away from her home. After the car was delivered, I received another email from Sherpa Auto Transport confirming the delivery of my vehicle and to tell me that I was entitled to a free car wash on them. I have stored the name and number of this company in my phone for future reference. I highly recommend Sherpa Auto Transport to coordinate the move of any of your vehicles. You will not experience a better class of service. Thank you so much for easing my pain due to the death of my uncle. I will be using you and recommending you to others in the future.”
“Sherpa was very quick, concise, and thorough. All I did was put where I was leaving from, what type and make and model of my car is, and where it was heading towards. The people I talked to made everything else happen for me. I had a couple of specific questions ‘cause I`m a little more meticulous when it comes to things that I do. They were very patient and quick to get things done for me. They also honored their quote that they initially gave me. They were able to hold on to the quote a little longer than the promised day. Not only did they do what they promised, but they also did a little extra. It was perfect. The communication was amazing. I was supposed to ship my car some time this week, but emergency came up and I had to ship it early for my girlfriend out in Florida to use my car. I called them and the rep was able to get my car picked up two weeks early. She told me there wasn`t an extra charge. I kept calling her three more times afterward to keep coordinating with her. She was pleasant and more than willing to help.”
“Just used them to transport my mom`s old 1993 Del Sol from Inverness, FL to Pittsburgh, PA. Created the request on Sat 7 Oct. Same day I received confirmation of the booking and price (lower than the other companies I contacted). Received an email on Sun 8 Oct that they were still searching for a driver. On Mon 9 Oct, I received an email indicating a driver was located. At 3 PM I received a call informing me the driver would like to pick up at 6 PM the same day. Wow that was quick. Driver arrived at 6:40 pm on Mon 9 Oct – first working day after my initial contact. The driver did call me directly to confirm the person she was to obtain the car from – my sister. Since the truck was so large and my Pittsburgh location is down narrow streets, I decided to change the delivery location to a barely used strip mall directly off the interstate. On Tue at 9:10 AM I texted the new location to my Sherpa contact. My Sherpa contact agreed and indicated the car should be delivered the same day. The driver did call me, 30 minutes before she expected to arrive at the strip mall parking lot. Wow by 6:30 PM on Tue 10 Oct the car was delivered in perfect condition. Seriously it could not have been easier or better service delivered. I highly recommend Sherpa Auto Transport!!!!”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement. After getting the run around from another carrier, Sherpa really stepped in and made things easy. They were patient, explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel stupid for asking. I transported a car that was my father’s (a 1964 Porsche 356) that is very special to our family and I would trust Sherpa with it again.”
“When researching companies to ship my 2012 Kia Sorento cross country Sherpa Auto Transport stood out as exceptional–by previous customers. I subsequently chose Sherpa, and they exceeded my expectations! They tell you what to expect throughout the process, and proactively followup with you at every step. Their pricing was reasonable and I even got a promised rebate for providing certain documentation at the conclusion of the shipment. The shipment went perfectly from the advanced price quote, to auto pick up, to the final delivery. Despite a snowstorm on the receiving end, my auto was delivered within 10 minutes of the agreed on meeting time– and in perfect condition. I now know first-hand why they received the top customer evaluations–they deliver on their promises & commitments! Highly Recommend for your auto transport needs!!!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in St. Augustine, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Florida. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
