What our Miami customers say about Sherpa:
“Top Line Auto Service based out of California dropped the car off. The two brothers met me. I had spoken to Joseph on the phone, and figured out what direction they were coming from, which was east from Florida. And based on where I live, I gave them the best place that I thought would be the easiest to pull up an 18-wheeler, and with a truckload of cars, to offload it and meet them to where they could easily get back on the interstate again and go about their day without having to snake through city traffic.”
“I started getting literally dozens of calls/emails/emails after I put out a need for a shipper…I guess it`s a cut throat business!! Anyways, I was getting prices from $1300 to $2300 from San Francisco to Miami and it was pretty confusing so I decided to read the reviews and went with Sherpa since it was 5 star rated and had good reviews.”
“They picked up my car near Philadelphia and delivered it to me in Miami approximately four days after they picked it up. The driver was not able to bring his truck directly to my house because the area has a lot of trees and the truck might not have been able to clear those trees, so we work something out where I met the driver at his truck and he followed me back to my house in the car that was transported and then I drove him back to his truck.”

Factors that affect Miami Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: Miami’s location at the southern tip of Florida affects shipping costs. Longer distances, such as shipping from Miami to the West Coast, will be more expensive than shorter routes within Florida or to nearby states.
- Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Miami. Enclosed trailers, while offering protection from Florida’s intense sun and occasional tropical storms, are about 50% more expensive and typically have longer delivery times.
- Pickup and Drop-off Locations: Miami’s urban setting makes it more affordable for car shipping compared to rural areas. However, if you’re shipping to or from less populated areas in Florida, consider meeting the carrier near major highways like I-95 or I-75 to potentially reduce costs.
- Time of Year: Miami’s car shipping prices can fluctuate seasonally. Winter months see an influx of snowbirds, potentially increasing demand and prices. Hurricane season (June to November) might also affect shipping schedules and costs.
- Vehicle Size and Condition: Larger vehicles or those with low ground clearance (common in Miami’s luxury car scene) may cost more to ship. Inoperable vehicles will incur additional fees due to the need for special equipment.
- Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive rates when shipping a car to or from Miami. Rush or guaranteed pickup services will increase the cost.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from Miami. For a more detailed breakdown of car shipping costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Miami car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major interstates like I-95 or I-75. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before transport. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during the auto transport process.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the better options you’ll have for car shipping services in Miami, FL.
- Consider seasonal timing: Miami’s peak tourist season can affect car transport rates. If possible, schedule your shipment during off-peak months for potential savings.

1. Get an Instant Quote: Start by obtaining a free online quote from a trusted car shipping company. Provide details about your vehicle, desired pickup and delivery locations, and preferred shipping method.
2. Book Your Shipment: Once you’re satisfied with the quote, lock in your shipment. Remember, nothing is due upfront with Sherpa Auto Transport.
3. Prepare Your Vehicle: Miami’s hot, humid climate can affect your car during transport. Wash your vehicle thoroughly, checking for existing damage. Remove personal items and valuables. Secure or remove loose parts, and ensure your car is in good mechanical condition. Given Miami’s occasional heavy rains, double-check that all windows and seals are properly closed.
4. Meet the Carrier: Your carrier will pick up your vehicle as close to your specified address as possible. Be ready to hand over the keys and perform an inspection.
5. Track Your Shipment: While your car is in transit, perhaps along I-95 or Florida’s Turnpike, relax and let the auto transport company handle the logistics.
6. Receive Your Vehicle: Upon arrival, inspect your car and sign the Bill of Lading. Pay any remaining balance to complete the service.
When shipping a car to or from Miami, consider the city’s unique aspects. The year-round warm weather means your vehicle won’t face harsh winter conditions during transport. However, be mindful of hurricane season (June to November) when planning your shipment.

Miami Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When shipping a car to Miami, FL, it’s crucial to be aware of local regulations and prepare for your move. Miami’s unique climate and urban landscape require special consideration for car transport and relocation.
First, let’s address vehicle requirements. Florida doesn’t have strict vehicle inspection laws, but it’s wise to ensure your car is in good condition. When using car shipping services, remove your SunPass transponder to avoid accidental toll charges during transport. For new residents, you’ll need to register your vehicle within 10 days of establishing residency or employment. Visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website for details.
Miami’s warm, humid climate can affect your vehicle. Consider shipping your car with extra protection against sun damage and salt air, especially if you’re planning long-term storage. Many car shipping companies offer enclosed transport options for added security.
When settling in Miami, set up utilities promptly. Florida Power & Light (FPL) provides electricity, while the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department handles water services. For internet, major providers include AT&T, Xfinity, and Atlantic Broadband. Don’t forget to update your driver’s license and register to vote at the Miami-Dade Elections Department.
If you’re moving away from Miami, remember to:
- Cancel local memberships (gyms, clubs)
- Forward your mail via USPS
- Notify your employer and schools
- Return library books and cancel your card
Whether you’re moving to or from the Magic City, reliable auto transport can make your transition smoother. Choose a reputable car shipping company familiar with Miami’s unique landscape and regulations to ensure a hassle-free experience.
Miami, Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Miami?

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Miami?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Miami?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Miami?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. “My experience with Sherpa was terrific. They did everything they said they were gonna do. The man I spoke to was very polite. He told me they had a list of people that they don`t do business with it. The delivery on my end was perfect. The man`s name was Alex and he was good and he walked around my car. He examined my car very thoroughly and took a video. He put the car on the truck and he delivered it a day earlier than I thought it was gonna be delivered to my brother and my brother was happy. All it needed was to be washed. Other than being washed, it was in good condition. I definitely would use Sherpa again. If I send up the car that I have right now back to my sister, I will definitely use Sherpa. They were good, polite and they backed up what they said.”
“I needed my car shipped from Miami to Los Angeles. I worked with Sherpa who were very professional and guided me through the entire process. Sherpa connected me to Skyline Auto Relocation with a pick up date between Dec 7-11. They picked up my car on Dec 8th (right on time) and gave me a delivery window of Dec 14-17. It arrive on Dec 15th (right on time again!) in perfect condition. I have never been more pleased with a car shipment than I was with Sherpa. And the price was affordable and never changed from the original quote. I would recommend Sherpa to anyone who wants their car shipped in the US.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Miami, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Florida. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
Fun Facts About Car Shipping

- The “head rack” design—which allows an extra car to be transported above the truck’s cab—was first introduced in the 1960s. This innovation maximized the number of vehicles that could be shipped on a single truck without extending its length. [Source: Super Dispatch]
- During World War II, specialized military transport trucks were developed to haul heavy vehicles like tanks. These trucks, known as “tank transporters,” could carry loads of up to 100 tons, paving the way for modern heavy-duty transport trucks. [Source: National WWII Museum]
- Auto transport trucks can have fuel tanks that hold up to 300 gallons of diesel, allowing them to travel over 2,000 miles without needing to refuel. This is crucial for long-haul routes, ensuring continuous operation with minimal stops. [Source: Diesel Technology Forum]
- Some modern car carriers are made of lightweight aluminum, which reduces the trailer’s weight by up to 3,000 pounds compared to steel. This allows for greater fuel efficiency and payload capacity, meaning carriers can transport more cars with less fuel. [Source: Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering]
