What our Thousand Oaks customers say about Sherpa:
“We needed specific pick up and drop off dates due to the travel we were doing and moving our son out of state. Sherpa worked with the carriers to make that happen for us. The car was in perfect condition, they delivered it on time, instructions were very easy and the cost was right on par with what it would have cost to drive across country, gas, lodging, wear and tear. Very easy to work with and I highly recommend them.”
“Good experience professional. Not overly pushy. They were thorough, kept me notified thru texts and calls. Easy to get ahold of them and with a competitive price. This was my first time shipping a car across the country, so I was a little nervous. But I felt confident in letting them handle this.”
“Sherpa took very good care of the car. I had great service. It was very quick and thorough. Also, the price was affordable. They were very transparent, and they stuck to their cost. They committed to picking the car up at a particular time. They were on time, they loaded the car, there was no damage to the car, and they committed to delivering it to Thousand Oaks the following day.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Thousand Oaks Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The journey length greatly impacts car shipping costs to or from Thousand Oaks, CA. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport. Enclosed trailers, while about 50% pricier and potentially slower, offer extra protection for high-value vehicles against Thousand Oaks’ occasional Santa Ana winds and road debris.
- Vehicle Size: Larger, heavier vehicles like SUVs or trucks cost more to ship than compact cars due to the space and fuel they require. This is especially relevant when navigating the hilly terrain around Thousand Oaks.
- Route Accessibility: Thousand Oaks’ proximity to major routes like US-101 and I-405 can help keep costs down. However, deliveries to more remote areas off these main arteries may incur additional fees.
- Seasonal Demand: Car shipping prices to Thousand Oaks may fluctuate with seasonal trends. Summer months and January often see higher demand and prices due to relocations and snowbird movements.
- Fuel Prices: As a significant operating cost for auto transport companies, fuel prices directly impact shipping rates. This can be especially noticeable in California, where fuel costs tend to be higher than the national average.
- Delivery Timeframe: Opting for a flexible pickup window can lead to more competitive rates, while expedited shipping to meet tight deadlines in Thousand Oaks will typically cost more.
Understanding these factors can help you navigate the car shipping process more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Thousand Oaks car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundled pickups along the US-101.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers greater flexibility and cost savings.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major routes like I-405 or CA-23. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and lower your overall car shipping price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can lead to better options and potential savings on your Thousand Oaks auto transport. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of off-peak shipping times.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car to or from Thousand Oaks during less busy times can result in more competitive rates from car shipping companies.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Thousand Oaks?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?

Reviews from our California Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied California customers:
“Sherpa subcontracted the job with another company so I was dealing directly with that company. He was great and very communicative. He told me when he arrived to pick up the car. They also had to hold on to the car for a couple of days because I was accommodating them. They asked to pick it up early and I agreed but I didn`t have the money until the following Friday so they had to hold on to it for a couple of days. And I saw it was just in a locked lot so I was happy. Then they delivered when they said they would. So I was very happy with them and I would totally use them again. My brother-in-law was nervous about shipping his Tesla, but it has cameras all around it so we saw it when it was on the road and when the driver pulled over. We also saw how bad the road conditions were and that the guy pulled over in California here. This shipping company was from Denver and I needed to go through Sherpa to get them because Sherpa was the one that has the good rating with the Better Business Bureau. In the end, I got exactly what I wanted and my car was safe. I felt secure with them, too.”
“Everything went well with Sherpa. I moved across the country and the transport for my 1982 Toyota Tercel was pretty quick. It took about a week and was a little faster than I was expecting. I looked at around 3 transport companies and Sherpa had better customer service reviews. And just from talking to them, I got a better vibe. I almost went with another company, but I`ve had bad experiences with auto transport in the past and it was pretty clear that this other company was shady, so I went with Sherpa. My experience with other companies is that they`ll give you a really low price and then they won`t be able to deliver on that so they`ll just kinda walk you up until they get to something higher than what you originally agreed to. But with Sherpa, they were pretty upfront about exactly what it was gonna cost. It was exactly what they said and it seemed reasonable. I`d like to pay less, but it goes like 1,200 to ship the car. It`s market-driven, so it costs what it cost to get someone to ship the car, and I was willing to pay it.”
“I Googled the top 10 shipping companies, and Sherpa was number 2. I called the first one, and they didn`t answer, so I called Sherpa. They answered and they were really nice. They told me some information that others didn`t or tried to withhold, and that was pretty nice in terms of transparency. I`m glad that I was able to connect with Sherpa. Because there were some that called me to give me offers and there were some of them that were bad mouthing others. I appreciate it when I spoke with Sherpa that they weren`t like that. It was more so on the professional side and just trying to help me get my car to where it needed to go. The guy that came to get the car was really awesome. He`s even from Texas, so I knew that he was familiar with the area. Communication was awesome as well. On his way to Cali, he kept me notified every half hour or so. When he got to the pickup location, he was pretty respectful in terms of not wanting to drive the big vehicle into this gated community, because a lot of them parked their cars outside along the road. I met the driver outside and he loaded my car with very good care and got it to Texas in less than the time I was told. I didn`t make it the the delivery location before he did, and he even helped out my family. My car is manual, and my parents didn`t know how to do that, so he was nice enough to help put it in the garage for them. Overall, it was a great experience and if I needed another vehicle transported, I would definitely go with Sherpa.”
“I called around to a few car places to get quotes and a lot of companies I felt were very pushy about setting my transportation up with them, Sherpa Auto was very informative and patient with me when making my decision. After calling a few times to get more information with my arising questions I was pretty content with my decision on choosing Sherpa. The process was very quick after the deposit process, they called me back that same day letting me know they found a trucking company to transport my two vehicles from California to Virginia. I was very worrisome about packing my vehicle as well because I’ve heard horror stories about people getting their things taken; but luckily everything was still in both my vehicles. The drivers were able to get my vehicles from California to Virginia within two and a half days which I was completely surprised about since it’s all the way across the country. I definitely made the right decision with choosing Sherpa and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who ships their vehicles.”
“I just put in one online request for a quote, and I got inundated with emails and text messages. But Sherpa was more personal. I was able to speak to a live human being on the phone. And they made the process simple as far as booking it. And when the guy showed up to pick up my car, he was able to get right around the corner from my house so I could walk. I was able to drive my car to where he was and walk back home. The communication of the driver was fantastic. He called me two days before, the day before, and a few hours before. He kept in communication with me through the whole process from three days out, which was fantastic. And he let me sit there and watch him load my car on to the transport and answered all the questions I had. And he was taking my car 2,600 miles and got my car to its location in four days. My husband received the car. And the driver made that transition so smooth that it was fantastic. The driver got as close as he could to our house, because we live in a rural area and there are a lot of two-lane roads. So, he got close to our house. And my husband just met him. My car transport was the smoothest part of our move. It was awesome.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Thousand Oaks, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of California. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
