What our Santa Monica customers say about Sherpa:

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"Working with Sherpa was a good experience. I did it all online. At first, I didn`t hear anything for a few days even after the pickup day, but I was reassured that they were putting it out for bids and finally got acknowledgment, then it shipped. I was able to track it as it shipped and it arrived safely in Santa Monica."

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"The Sherpa representative I spoke with made me feel very safe and secure. Everything that they said they were going to do, they did. The driver came in the time whatever the range they gave me and was very friendly. The car came to me on time and in the condition that I left it in in Santa Monica."

BBB
★★★★★

"I wish I would have just called them first because Jack was so friendly and not pushy at all and took me through the process step by step. I was sent an email 2 days later that our car would be picked up within 2 to 3 days. It was that easy and Sherpa took the stress right out of the whole experience."

Factors that affect Santa Monica Car Shipping Prices

  • Distance: Santa Monica's coastal location affects shipping costs. Transporting to/from inland cities like Phoenix or Las Vegas is typically more affordable than cross-country routes to East Coast destinations.
  • Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for most vehicles. Enclosed transport, while about 50% pricier and potentially slower, offers extra protection for luxury or classic cars against Santa Monica's salty sea air.
  • Pickup and Drop-off Locations: Santa Monica's urban setting keeps costs lower compared to rural areas. Consider meeting your carrier near major routes like I-10 or I-405 for potential savings.
  • Pickup Window: Sherpa's most budget-friendly option is a five-business-day pickup window. Expedited service will increase your costs but may be necessary during Santa Monica's busy tourist seasons.
  • Vehicle Size: Larger, heavier vehicles cost more to ship. Santa Monica's narrow streets may also affect pricing for oversized vehicles.
  • Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to transport. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing costs.
  • Time of Year: Summer months and January see higher prices due to increased demand. Santa Monica's year-round mild climate means less seasonal fluctuation compared to other regions.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

  • Book early: Schedule your shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from Santa Monica.
  • Choose open transport: Open shipping provides the lowest rates and greatest flexibility for negotiating prices. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport is often the most cost-effective option.
  • Strategic pickup/dropoff locations: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-10 or I-405, which run close to Santa Monica. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers.
  • Empty your vehicle: Remove all personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues.
  • Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates. Consider weekdays rather than weekends for potentially lower prices.
  • Consider seasonal timing: Santa Monica's mild climate means year-round shipping is possible, but rates may be lower during off-peak seasons when fewer people are relocating.
  • Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good working condition. This can prevent delays and additional costs during the shipping process.
