What our Riverside customers say about Sherpa:
“I had to transport a vehicle from California to here and the company I selected, Sherpa, was the one that I felt most comfortable with. The rep was professional, direct to the point and gave me all good, useful, and helpful information. Sherpa was most upfront with the cost and what it would be, and stayed to that. I knew the driver would show up Sunday, and gave me a call about an hour and a half out from his actual arrival.”
“Working with the rep was good. But I was confused about the timetable. He explained to me that there was supposed to be a one week window and that the closer it is to the weekend, the more expensive it is. Also, the pickup changed from time to time. Other than that, the quote provided and the driver were great.”
“I was very please with the transport of my vehicle. They kept in contact with on updates about when I should receive my vehicle. Everything went well. Once the car came it was inspected, and carefully taken off of the truck. I signed off on the paperwork that was given and the payment was made. Thank you.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Riverside Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Riverside, CA. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel costs and driver time increase.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your car affect shipping rates. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks cost more to transport than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open car transport is the most common and affordable option for shipping to or from Riverside. Enclosed transport, while pricier, offers extra protection from weather and road debris, ideal for luxury or classic cars.
- Seasonal Demand: Auto transport prices in Riverside can fluctuate based on the time of year. Summer months and January typically see higher demand and costs due to increased relocation activity.
- Route Accessibility: Riverside’s proximity to major highways like I-215 and CA-91 can help keep costs down. However, shipping to or from more remote areas may increase prices.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship as they can be driven onto the carrier. Non-running cars require special equipment, increasing the cost.
- Timing Flexibility: If you can be flexible with your pickup and delivery dates, you may find better rates for car shipping to or from Riverside.
- Riverside’s Climate: The city’s hot, dry summers and mild winters generally don’t significantly impact shipping costs, but extreme weather events could affect transport schedules.
Understanding these factors can help you plan and budget for your car shipping needs in Riverside, CA. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Riverside car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Select strategic locations: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find pickup and dropoff points near major interstates like I-215 or CA-91. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before transport. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during the auto transport process.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. The more flexible you are, the better options you’ll have for car shipping services to and from Riverside, CA.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping a car during off-peak times can result in lower rates and more available carriers.
- Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good running condition. A well-maintained vehicle is easier to load and unload, potentially reducing handling costs.

Riverside Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When relocating to or from Riverside, CA, it’s crucial to understand the local vehicle requirements and regulations. For car shipping to Riverside, CA, or auto transport from the area, consider these important factors:
Vehicle Registration: California requires new residents to register their vehicles within 20 days of establishing residency. Visit the California Department of Motor Vehicles website for detailed information on the registration process.
Toll Systems: While Riverside itself doesn’t have toll roads, nearby areas do. If you frequently travel to Orange County or Los Angeles, consider getting a FasTrak transponder for convenient toll payments.
Smog Checks: California has strict emissions standards. Most vehicles require a smog check every two years. Be prepared for this when shipping a car to Riverside.
Parking: Some areas in Riverside require residential parking permits. Check with the city’s parking services for specific requirements in your neighborhood.
Utilities: Set up essential services before your move. Riverside Public Utilities provides electricity and water. For internet, providers like Spectrum and AT&T serve the area.
Climate Considerations: Riverside’s hot, dry climate can affect your vehicle. When using car shipping services, consider requesting enclosed transport to protect your car from dust and sun exposure.
Local Tip: The 91 Freeway is a major artery for Riverside. If you’re arranging car transport, be aware that traffic can be heavy during peak hours.
Remember, whether you’re using a car shipping company for Riverside car shipping or handling the move yourself, proper preparation is key. Don’t forget to update your address, transfer medical records, and explore your new community. Riverside offers beautiful parks and cultural attractions – perfect for exploring once you’ve settled in!
Riverside, California Vehicle Transport FAQs

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Riverside?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied California customers:
“This is my first time writing a review, my experience with everyone at Sherpa Auto Transport was so professional and positive that I was compelled to share my experience too. I shipped three cars from Riverside, California to Philadelphia, PA. The price was very reasonable and the service was excellent. The scheduled pick-up and delivery was timely and they kept me posted. We were driving a U-Haul to Philadelphia and called several times to ensued that my cars would be delivered on time; the staff was always efficient did not get upset and gave me an update in real-time. The driver was very nice and delivery the cars as scheduled. I highly recommend Sherpa Auto Transport to anyone needing to transport his or her auto. Sherpa Auto Transport has excellent service, a professional staff, and willing to assist me regardless of how many times you call them.”
“I called Sherpa Auto Transport and they were nice. They gave me a timeframe. I couldn`t be there so I talked to my brother, and he did the paperwork. And over here, I picked the car up. If I need it again, I`ll use them again.”
“I purchased a ’99 BMW and it was coming from California. I used Sherpa as the reviews that I saw were much better than the others. I had a very good interaction with customer service. They introduced themselves and were very thorough as far as explaining the process step by step. They answered any questions that I had. The rep was very insightful and knowledgeable as far as expectation when it comes to timeframes, which was very nice. He was a very good representative. The pricing was very comparable to other providers. There was only a $20 or $30 difference from the other companies. Even though they were a little bit more, I didn’t mind. I liked the Price Lock Promise. The delivery actually worked out very well and the car got here super quickly over the weekend. They picked it up on Friday and I got it on Monday. The driver was very nice and let me know when he was 30 minutes away. He brought the car to my house. He backed it out for me and gave me my paperwork. I did an open transport and it was uncovered. The car just looked like it had been driven in the wind but it was exactly how it was when it was picked up. I would have liked to have done the closed transport but it’s understandable that it’s a little bit more expensive. But for what I was getting, the price was spot on. Sherpa is worth it.”
“I’ve had horrible experiences making calls a 2 yrs ago, planning a move and needing my car shipped. I was getting hammered for a couple weeks by annoying calls, texts, and emails from many transport companies that didn’t seem legit. Fast forward, my moving plans fell through, and this time around, I took my time researching for reliable transport companies. I stumbled upon Sherpa reviews here, which made me more comfortable and confident to call, needing my car shipped from San Diego to Florida. Customer service was excellent with my first call, explained how transport works, they aren’t like the companies that have hundreds of random people calling, texting, and emailing, asked for a window date I needed my car picked up, and got a quote done. I felt great after the call. Communication was top notch from customer service to the driver. 2 weeks later, I got a call from the driver letting me know what day and time he’s arriving. The driver actually arrived a day or 2 earlier that was on a Sunday, which wasn’t a problem. I took pics of the outside and inside my car. The driver took pics as well, including pics of my car being loaded on the truck that were also sent to me through text message. The driver was very detailed, and told me he’ll have updates in the next couple days. That Wednesday morning, the driver sent me a text with a picture of his truck that had other cars on it, and said my car will be delivered early in the morning Thursday! I was impressed how fast shipping was! That Thursday, a family was contacted by the driver for delivery. The delivery was very smooth, recieved a pic of my car in a nearby parking lot due to his truck being too big for residential areas that was less than 1 mile away. My family member retrieved my car after doing an inspection with the driver. No scratches or damages whatsoever! Received the bill of lading afterwards. It’s nice having your car at its final destination before I fly out! I’m very impressed with this company! I highly recommend Sherpa!”
“My daughter moved to North Carolina and I looked at dozens of different transport companies before choosing Sherpa Auto Transport. We went through various Yelp and other rating web services, and Consumer Reports rated Sherpa as the best choice. The customer service rep at Sherpa was great, very informative, and had a great demeanor. The initial quote was higher than everybody else, but I wasn’t willing to take a chance with a company that wasn’t rated well. The vehicle was shipped from my house in California to where my daughter is in North Carolina and they did fine. They showed up when they said they were going to. However, because of the flooding in North Carolina, the driver had to talk her through how he was gonna get there. My daughter didn’t have any transportation to get to where the car was potentially going to be delivered, but the driver finally got it within a mile off where she was living. The cost was good and the drivers on both ends did a good job. My only gripe at the whole thing is when they loaded the vehicle on to the long distance transport, it wasn’t taking off. Something happened to the back of the car after it left my house and before it got to North Carolina because there was a dime-sized ding in the back bumper. My daughter said she was gonna either call Sherpa or the transport company to find out what she could get done about it. Overall, it was a good experience. They handled the transport well especially considering the fact that it was an unknown situation in North Carolina when we were trying to ship the car. Sherpa did a good job.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Riverside, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of California. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
