What our Surprise customers say about Sherpa:
“The car was picked up exactly where and when we expected. The two young drivers were neat. They shuffled the cars around to get them in the order they needed them. We watched them do it very carefully in moving cars in and out. And off they went. It disappeared in Phoenix, Arizona. Our family members were here already in Michigan when the car arrived. It arrived at exactly the right time.”
“I called Sherpa and they reactivated the bid and even though it was some weeks later, they gave us the original price that they had quoted us. It was seamless. We made arrangements, paid our deposit and left the car with some friends because all of this was last minute and Sherpa gave us a pickup window of several days. They notified the friends when the driver was coming to pick up the vehicle. They took pictures. It was very well done and they came super fast. I was surprised. It was two and a half days, maybe, to transport from Jonesboro, Georgia, which is a suburb of Atlanta, all the way out here to Gilbert, Arizona, which is a suburb of the Phoenix Metro area.”
“When I moved, I needed to transport my vehicle and so I looked into several transport companies. I decided to go with Sherpa due to the assurance that they gave me, the insurance, and background checks for the driver. Their customer service reps were very informative and they made sure they stayed in touch with me and kept me updated as far as booking the driver. The transport took three days and everything was fine when they came. The car that was in the truck was secured and it was in good shape when it arrived. Also, their cost was fair. I would recommend them.”

Factors that affect Surprise Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Surprise, AZ. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel and labor costs increase. For example, shipping a car from Surprise to the East Coast will cost more than transporting it to nearby Phoenix.
- Vehicle Size: Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks take up more space on the carrier and weigh more, resulting in higher shipping costs compared to compact cars. This is especially important to consider when shipping to or from Surprise, as many residents own larger vehicles suited for the Arizona desert terrain.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and affordable option for car shipping to Surprise. They’re suitable for most vehicles and offer the best value. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, provides extra protection from dust storms and intense sun common in Arizona. However, it’s typically only necessary for high-value or classic cars.
- Time of Year: Seasonal fluctuations affect car shipping prices to Surprise. Winter months often see an influx of “snowbirds” moving to Arizona, potentially increasing demand and prices. Summer’s extreme heat can also impact shipping costs due to increased fuel consumption for climate control.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Surprise’s proximity to major highways like US-60 and Loop 303 can help keep costs down. However, if you’re shipping to or from more remote areas away from these routes, it may increase the price.
- Fuel Prices: As a significant factor in auto transport costs, fluctuating fuel prices can impact your car shipping quote to or from Surprise. When gas prices rise, shipping costs typically follow suit.
Understanding these factors can help you plan and budget for your car shipping needs to or from Surprise, AZ. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Surprise, AZ car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundled pickups along I-10 or Loop 303.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping is the most cost-effective option for most vehicles. It offers greater flexibility and lower rates compared to enclosed transport.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like US-60 or AZ-303. This can reduce fuel costs and potentially lower your overall car shipping price.
- Lighten your load: Remove personal items from your vehicle before transport. This reduces weight and eliminates liability concerns for the auto transport company.
- Stay flexible: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your Surprise car shipping needs. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of carrier availability and potentially lower costs.
- Consider seasonal timing: Auto transport to/from Surprise, AZ may be more affordable during off-peak seasons when snowbirds aren’t flocking to the area. Plan your car shipping around these fluctuations if possible.

- Receive your vehicle: Upon delivery, inspect your car thoroughly and sign the bill of lading. Pay any remaining balance to complete the car shipping process.
When shipping a car to or from Surprise, AZ, consider the local climate. The area’s intense heat and occasional dust storms can impact vehicle transport. Opt for enclosed auto transport for added protection, especially for luxury or classic cars. Also, be aware that Surprise’s rapid growth might affect delivery locations, so provide up-to-date address information to your car shipping company. By following these steps and considering local factors, you’ll ensure a successful auto transport experience in Surprise, AZ.
Surprise Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When moving to or from Surprise, AZ, it’s crucial to understand the local vehicle requirements and regulations. Arizona has specific rules for car registration and inspection that you should be aware of when shipping your vehicle. Unlike some states, Arizona doesn’t require annual vehicle inspections, but you’ll need to pass an emissions test if you’re in Maricopa County, where Surprise is located. Be sure to complete this within 90 days of registering your vehicle.
For those using car shipping services to transport their vehicle to Surprise, remember to remove your toll pass if you have one from your previous state. Arizona uses a system called AZ Travel ID for its highways, but Surprise itself doesn’t have toll roads. When your car transport is complete, you’ll have 15 days to register your vehicle with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
As you settle into Surprise, you’ll need to set up utilities. Arizona Public Service (APS) is the main electricity provider, while EPCOR handles water services. For internet, you have options like Cox and CenturyLink. Don’t forget to update your voter registration and get your Arizona driver’s license within 30 days of establishing residency.
If you’re moving away from Surprise, remember to cancel local memberships, forward your mail, and notify ADOT of your move. When choosing a car shipping company, consider Surprise’s hot climate. Ensure your chosen auto transport service can protect your vehicle from the intense Arizona sun during transit.
Whether you’re shipping a car to or from Surprise, be aware of the city’s location near major highways like Loop 303 and US 60. These routes make Surprise car shipping convenient, but also mean your vehicle might encounter desert dust during transport. A reputable car shipping company will take precautions to protect your vehicle throughout its journey to or from Surprise, AZ.
Surprise, Arizona Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Surprise?

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Surprise?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Surprise?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Surprise?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. Reviews from our Arizona Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Arizona customers:
“We thought we’d transport a car. I was scared to death of the idea. I read all the horror stories – cars falling off trucks, cars coming full of mud, dents, whatever. I researched the heck out of it. I went through 15 transports, and read their stuff online. Sherpa`s presentation online was good. It was convincing. It was humble in the sense of the reality of the whole car transport business. The fact that you`re not dealing initially with the driver, you`re dealing with a broker. Most people are not familiar with doing this and don`t understand the difference between a trucker and a broker. That`s the scary part. And that`s what Sherpa covered so well. And in service, I never had to sit on hold with them if I had a question. It was the same with talking to the truckers. They were very cool and sharp, and they did the job. The car was picked up exactly where and when we expected.
“We were moving from Georgia to Arizona and we had made arrangements with family to transport. At the last minute, we had to get a second moving truck, which took away one of our drivers, so the only option left was to ship one of the vehicles. So, we decided which vehicle to ship. I had reached out in the beginning of the moving planning, to see, in the event that I used a moving company to do this instead of a self-move, what would be the cost to transport cars. So, at that point, I had contacted Sherpa based on their reviews that I read and they had given me an estimate, so I had a good feeling for how much extra it was going to cost us with that. I called Sherpa and they reactivated the bid and even though it was some weeks later, they gave us the original price that they had quoted us.
“The gal I talked to at Sherpa Auto Transport walked me through the transport and was super nice. The driver was from California, and he was getting back to California. He didn`t know about this Kentucky weather, but everything went well. He picked the car up on Wednesday night. But he had a motorcycle and a Mercedes too. He dropped the motorcycle in Alabama, dropped the Mercedes in Tennessee, and came north on 75 and dropped my car off. I got it on Tuesday morning. He had four more days, but he rolled in here. He was nice and good. I`m 100% satisfied.”
“I read the Better Business Bureau reports and Sherpa was at the top. I’m a senior, so I looked at a few senior sites and Sherpa was recommended by one of the sites that I looked at. I called them and they were pretty straightforward. They weren’t the lowest price but they had a promised guarantee stating that it would only be a certain price and they guaranteed $300 over. I have a Kia and I was having it transported from Southern Arizona to Sebring, Florida. What Sherpa does is they put the bid out and different transport companies then bid on that. I had a gentleman from Miami who was making the trip back and forth and he called me. I was under the impression I would get a 24 to 48-hour notice. He was very professional when he showed up and he delivered my car safely. But he only gave me half hour notice on my end before he wanted to get the car.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Surprise, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Arizona. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
