Factors that Affect Auto Transport Costs

  • Book Early. We recommend booking car transport at least two weeks out.
  • Be Flexible. Certain days of the week & time of the year can be more expensive.
  • Enclosed auto transport vs open car shipping. Special vehicles require a fully enclosed car shipping trailer. Enclosed trailers offer protection & peace of mind, but are significantly more expensive.
  • Vehicle Size. Full size Pickup Trucks cost more to ship than Compact Cars.
  • Location, Location, Location. For your convenience, we strive to make all shipments door to door. However, if you are in a remote location, consider selecting a location closer to an interstate to help reduce your car shipping cost.

What our Queen Creek customers say about Sherpa:

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

“I was very nervous about how this experience could possibly go and wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised! Sherpa was amazing with communicating and letting me the status each step of the way prior to delivery. Though our first carrier cancelled due to truck problems, they communicated right away and had a new carrier booked within a day and didn’t yank around our price like some others have been known to do.”

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

“This was the first experience in transporting a car. The booking was done just less than two months ahead of time. Sherpa Sales Dept followed through with my concerns which was greatly appreciated. SARS Logistics Inc took on the job within 4 days and I can say SARS answered the phone every time I called. SARS also made me feel I was in the right hands.”

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

“After a frustrating battle with scammers and fake companies, Sherpa came to the rescue! They paired my vehicle with a driver for a shipping date only one week away at a low, but still competitive, price for broker purposes! Will be recommending this company to all my friends and family looking to move across the country.”

Vehicle Size
  • Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Queen Creek, AZ. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
  • Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your car affect shipping costs. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks typically cost more to transport than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
  • Transport Method: Open car transport is the most common and affordable option for shipping to Queen Creek. Enclosed transport offers extra protection but costs about 50% more and may have longer delivery times.
  • Season: Auto transport prices in Queen Creek can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months often see higher demand and prices, while winter might offer more competitive rates, except during holidays.
  • Route Popularity: Queen Creek’s proximity to major highways like US-60 and Loop 202 can affect pricing. More frequent routes typically offer better rates due to higher carrier availability.
  • Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates often result in lower costs. Expedited shipping to or from Queen Creek will increase the price but may be necessary for time-sensitive moves.
  • Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Non-running cars require special equipment for loading, which increases the cost of transport to or from Queen Creek.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

  • Book early: Schedule your Queen Creek car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundled pickups in the area.
  • Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find locations near major highways like US-60 or AZ-24. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall price.
  • Empty your vehicle: Remove all personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates potential liability issues.
  • Be flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can lead to better pricing options. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of carrier availability in the Queen Creek area.
  • Consider seasonal timing: Auto transport to/from Queen Creek may be more affordable during off-peak seasons when snowbirds aren’t actively moving vehicles.

Queen Creek Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations

Vehicle Transport Registration

When planning your move to or from Queen Creek, AZ, it’s essential to consider the unique aspects of car shipping and local regulations. Queen Creek car shipping services can help you transport your vehicle safely, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Arizona doesn’t use toll roads, so you won’t need to worry about removing a toll reader. However, the state does require vehicle emissions testing in certain areas, including parts of Maricopa County where Queen Creek is located. Be sure to check if your vehicle needs testing after arrival.

When it comes to vehicle registration in Arizona, you’ll have 15 days to register your out-of-state vehicle after establishing residency. The process involves providing proof of ownership, passing emissions testing (if required), and paying the necessary fees. Queen Creek doesn’t have specific parking pass requirements, but be aware of local parking regulations in residential areas.

As you settle into Queen Creek, you’ll need to set up utilities. Salt River Project (SRP) provides electricity, while the Town of Queen Creek Utilities Department handles water services. For internet, providers like Cox and CenturyLink offer services in the area. Don’t forget to update your voter registration and enroll your children in the local school district if needed.

Queen Creek’s hot, arid climate can affect your vehicle, so consider this when using car transport services. The intense sun can damage paint and interiors, so ask your car shipping company about protective measures during transit. If you’re moving away from Queen Creek, remember to cancel local memberships, forward your mail, and notify relevant parties of your address change.

Whether you’re shipping a car to or from Queen Creek, understanding these local nuances will help ensure a smooth transition. With reliable auto transport options and proper preparation, your move to or from this charming Arizona town can be a breeze.

Queen Creek, Arizona Vehicle Transport FAQs

How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Queen Creek?

See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Queen Creek. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Queen Creek?

Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Queen Creek?

The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.

How do I pay for my auto transport to Queen Creek?

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.

Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?

Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?

Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.

What types of vehicles can you transport?

We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.

“I chose Sherpa to transport a vehicle from Massachusetts to Arizona because of their high ratings, and their high ranking on a number of websites that rated auto transport services. Sherpa did not disappoint! Their representatives located a carrier within a day of my request; however, the carrier did not show or call the on the day they were supposed to pick up my vehicle (through no fault of Sherpa). I immediately contacted Sherpa and the representative that I spoke with sincerely apologized stating they have used this particular carrier in the past with no issues. Within a few hours, not only did the Sherpa staff locate a new carrier, but the carrier was at my house to pick up the vehicle within three hours!! The new carrier`s driver was extremely professional, courteous, and flexible as I was not at home when he arrived. My car was delivered to Arizona sooner than I expected and in the same condition that it was in when it left Massachusetts. I am extremely impressed with Sherpa`s customer service, and professional staff!! They went out of the way to ensure that I had a positive experience. I will not hesitate in using Sherpa again, and give them a resounding five out of five stars!”

“It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn`t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there…and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can`t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact…I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier…the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do…take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you`re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona. My son`s first car while he`s training to become a commercial airline pilot!!”

“Talking to the Sherpa agent, I was more comfortable. They were thorough and answered all my questions. There was a price difference, too. I liked the driver. He`s a good guy. He told me what he was going to do, and then I told him where would be a good place to drop off the vehicle, and there was always that communication. So, he did a good job. My vehicle was the same shape as when he took it. When I got the call back from Sherpa about them not getting anybody to pick up the contract and the gentleman had said that it was gonna be between Sunday and Tuesday, I said, “It can`t be Tuesday. My wife and I are leaving, which means there`ll be nobody here to give you the keys to the car.” They found someone right away. It was a gentleman here from Arizona that picked up the contract. So, someone did some legwork to find someone to pick it up. I was under the impression that it was going to be an outside carrier, but it ended up turning this gentleman had his own enclosed trailer. So, it was doubly nice.”

“After having a poor experience with another transport company last year, I was very cautious in choosing another. After speaking with reps from several of the top rated, I chose Sherpa. I spoke with Kate M. several times and I explained to her my bad experience and she took the time to explain the process and that all of the companies they use have been vetted. She was very patient and understanding of my situation. She even made sure that the company I used last year was not chosen. I was also sent instructions that Kate went over regarding the inspection and documentation of my vehicle before shipping and upon arrival. Once I accepted Sherpa’s price, everything moved along just as Kate said. I was notified every step of the way and the transport company assigned to me was fantastic. My vehicle arrived on time with no issues. As part of my contract I was also given a $100 rebate along with Sherpa’s Clean Car Guarantee. I highly recommend Sherpa. Everyone I spoke with was very helpful. Paul S. New Hampshire/Arizona

“I have transported my vehicle a couple of times from Illinois to Arizona and back. After calling several transport companies for quotes, Sherpa gave us a quote that was a bit higher than the lowest quote but was their ‘Lock your price’ quote which is what I was looking for. The quoted price remained unchanged and that was the price I paid. Our vehicle was picked up, transported and arrived at the destination within the windows of time mentioned in their email messages. I plan to use them again. I recommend that the Bill of Lading is sent via email to owner by the transportation driver instead of putting the responsibility on the owner to ask for a copy which in this case I never received on either end. There was not any damage so the bill of lading was not needed in this case. I was very satisfied with the overall process and timely email communications.”

What is Auto Transport? Icon

What is Car Shipping?

Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Queen Creek, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.

About the Car Shipping Industry

Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Arizona. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.

Fun Facts About Car Shipping

  1. The first semi-truck was invented in 1898 by Alexander Winton to transport cars from his Cleveland-based Winton Motor Carriage Company. He wanted a way to deliver cars to customers without adding miles to the vehicles. [Source: Institute for Transportation, Iowa State University]
  2. Modern car carriers can transport up to 12 vehicles at a time. This design, which has evolved over decades, helps reduce the number of trips needed, thereby lowering fuel consumption and carbon emissions. [Source: Super Dispatch]
  3. Hydraulic systems used in car carriers allow the trailers to be raised or lowered, making it easier and safer to load and unload vehicles. This feature is now standard in many auto transport trucks. [Source: Tempus Logix]
  4. The “head rack” design—which allows an extra car to be transported above the truck’s cab—was first introduced in the 1960s. This innovation maximized the number of vehicles that could be shipped on a single truck without extending its length. [Source: Super Dispatch]
  5. During World War II, specialized military transport trucks were developed to haul heavy vehicles like tanks. These trucks, known as “tank transporters,” could carry loads of up to 100 tons, paving the way for modern heavy-duty transport trucks. [Source: National WWII Museum]
  6. Auto transport trucks can have fuel tanks that hold up to 300 gallons of diesel, allowing them to travel over 2,000 miles without needing to refuel. This is crucial for long-haul routes, ensuring continuous operation with minimal stops. [Source: Diesel Technology Forum]
  7. Some modern car carriers are made of lightweight aluminum, which reduces the trailer’s weight by up to 3,000 pounds compared to steel. This allows for greater fuel efficiency and payload capacity, meaning carriers can transport more cars with less fuel. [Source: Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering]
