What our Oro Valley customers say about Sherpa:
“This was my first experience with transporting a car and it could not have been better! I am a hard person to please but I would recommend their service to a friend. Sherpa communicated well, they met their obligation by kicking in $300 to get me a transporter during tough times in the trucking industry. My car arrived in Tucson before I arrived just a couple of days after loading. Not a scratch! Well done!”
“This was well handled from the start and the price dead on competitive. I was communicated with at the appropriate intervals. Sherpa also made good on the price quote even tho the driver took a larger share of the price than was expected. I will use them again.”
“Mohammed took extra care of my truck and the other cars he had on the transport truck. He kept us informed of where he was and when to get expect him. All in all I was totally satisfied with the service. I felt perfectly safe with him taking care of my truck.”

Factors that affect Oro Valley Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The journey length from Oro Valley, AZ to your destination significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open auto transport is the most common and affordable option for shipping cars to or from Oro Valley. Enclosed transport, while about 50% pricier, offers extra protection from Arizona’s intense sun and occasional dust storms.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship due to the space they occupy on the carrier. Oro Valley residents with standard cars will typically pay less for auto transport services.
- Route Popularity: Shipping to or from Oro Valley via major routes like I-10 or I-19 can be more cost-effective due to higher carrier availability. Less traveled routes may incur additional fees.
- Seasonal Factors: Car shipping prices in Oro Valley can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months often see higher rates due to increased demand, while winter might offer more competitive pricing.
- Delivery Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lead to more economical car shipping options. Expedited services for quicker transport to or from Oro Valley will increase costs.

When planning your car shipping to Oro Valley, AZ, it’s essential to consider local regulations and prepare for your move. Oro Valley, nestled in the Sonoran Desert, has unique aspects that affect both auto transport and daily life.
For vehicle transportation, Arizona doesn’t require a front license plate, so you’ll only need one when registering your car. The state has no toll roads, so there’s no need to worry about removing toll readers. However, due to the desert climate, it’s wise to have your vehicle inspected after shipping a car to ensure it’s ready for the heat.
Arizona’s vehicle registration process is straightforward. You’ll need to visit the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) within 15 days of establishing residency. Bring your out-of-state title, registration, and proof of insurance. Oro Valley has ample parking, but some residential areas may require permits, so check with your new neighborhood association.
When moving to Oro Valley, set up utilities early. Tucson Electric Power provides electricity, while Oro Valley Water Utility handles water services. For internet, you have options like Xfinity and CenturyLink. Don’t forget to update your voter registration and enroll children in the Amphitheater Public Schools district.
If you’re leaving Oro Valley, remember to forward your mail, cancel local memberships, and return your library card to the Oro Valley Public Library. Inform the ADOT of your move to avoid future tax bills.
Oro Valley’s climate is hot and dry, so when shipping a car here, consider having it detailed upon arrival to remove any dust from transit. The town is easily accessible via Interstate 10, making it convenient for auto transport companies to deliver vehicles. With its stunning desert landscapes and proximity to Tucson, Oro Valley offers a unique living experience that begins with a smooth car shipping process.
Oro Valley, Arizona Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Oro Valley?

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Oro Valley?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Oro Valley?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Oro Valley?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our Arizona Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Arizona customers:
“I shipped from Tucson, Arizona to Phoenix, Arizona, and it was A+. I used Sherpa before and the customer service this time was good too.”
“I read the Better Business Bureau reports and Sherpa was at the top. I’m a senior, so I looked at a few senior sites and Sherpa was recommended by one of the sites that I looked at. I called them and they were pretty straightforward. They weren’t the lowest price but they had a promised guarantee stating that it would only be a certain price and they guaranteed $300 over. I have a Kia and I was having it transported from Southern Arizona to Sebring, Florida. What Sherpa does is they put the bid out and different transport companies then bid on that. I had a gentleman from Miami who was making the trip back and forth and he called me. I was under the impression I would get a 24 to 48-hour notice. He was very professional when he showed up and he delivered my car safely. But he only gave me half hour notice on my end before he wanted to get the car. The car was picked up on a Tuesday morning and it was delivered on Friday. I was still in Arizona. My daughter-in-law and son were having the car delivered. The gentleman texted me Thursday night and said, “Let them know that I’ll be there first thing in the morning.†It was already midnight in Florida so they didn’t get the message. In the end, it all worked out fine despite the transport guy not quite meeting the expectations that Sherpa said I would get from a carrier. The car was delivered exactly as they said it would be. It made it fine. I was promised upfront by Sherpa a free car wash but my car was clean, so I didn’t use the car wash. I was very happy.”
“My experience with Sherpa was very good. I had almost signed the deal with somebody else and they didn`t know what was going on and didn`t have answers to my questions. Sherpa did. The guy was really complete, very thorough and said, “This is what`s going to happen. Don`t worry. It`s gonna seem like we`ve forgotten you but we haven`t, because we`re just trying to find drivers and drivers are a little bit harder to get nowadays.†I felt more comfortable with him. It took them about a week and a half to find somebody. Then the actual shipper called me and said, “I`m going to go pick it up tomorrow.†The driver was really good and communicated with me. The driver sent me photographs. He showed me where it is on his truck and he said when he was going to be there. The support from Sherpa was, “If you got any questions, don`t hesitate. Give us a call.†A couple of days ahead of time, I hadn’t heard from anyone and I was getting a little antsy so I called them and they said, “All right, No problem. Remember, we said it`s going to take a while. But, everything`s good.—
“I needed to have my vehicle shipped from Arizona to Maryland. I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport based on the Google reviews. My selection of this company was due to the contact and information provided by their representative Danielle. She explained the process to me answered all my questions. I gave them a pickup date and that was the date my vehicle was picked up. They provided me with an estimate delivery date and my delivery happened before the that estimate date. I was very pleased with the driver who contacted me when he was in the area to let me know the delivery day and time. He kept true to his word in contacting and delivery. Thank you Sherpa for giving me peace of mind in the delivery of my vehicle.”
“Sherpa Auto Transport shipped my car from AZ to DE, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I did extensive research and landed on 4 major transports. Gary at Sherpa explained the entire process and what I can expect before and during shipping to my full liking over the other big 3. Plus their price was competitive, and they offer a price lock. I informed them the available pick up dates, and they found a driver for me within 2-days, the first of my available pickups. Their pickup and delivery windows were also reasonable, 2 hours for both occasions during my experience. Now, if only more companies could have more reasonable windows. Sherpa hooked me up with a driver from Star Group Transport who was friendly and professional and delivered the car 2-days in advance of the initial delivery date. Note delivery dates are not guaranteed, but I was flexible on delivery. Their driver dispatch gave me a 24hour heads up on the delivery date and a delivery time window the following morning, so it worked out perfectly. All in all a great experience.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Oro Valley, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Arizona. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
