What our Arizona customers say about Sherpa:

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"The car was picked up exactly where and when we expected. The two young drivers were neat. They shuffled the cars around to get them in the order they needed them. We watched them do it very carefully in moving cars in and out. And off they went. It disappeared in Phoenix, Arizona. Our family members were here already in Michigan when the car arrived."

"The shipper S&N Trucking was A+++ fantastic. I was very happy with his profesionalism and communication through out the job. He navigated far more precisely than I`ve seen before and never kept me waiting. During my shipment a bad weather pattern started across the states causing a 50 car pile up around Arizona. This driver was monitoring weather constantly, and was able to navigate past the accident that stopped our house movers by 3 days."

"It was such a struggle for me to figure out which transport company to choose. I did so much research, read so many horror stories and I couldn`t bear the thought of being amongst the many disappointed persons who felt blindsided by original quotes or by unfulfilled promises from many other transport companies that look for your business. So what I decided on doing was going with my gut and trusting the search I did on the Top 10 best auto transport companies out there...and I went with #1 SHERPA TRANSPORT. I can`t express enough how well informed they were with me..their eagerness to reassure me and their following through with my expectations. My vehicle arrived intact...I was blessed that Sherpa Auto contracted a wonderful carrier...the driver contacted me and arrived on a timely manner and very professional. So all you nervous wrecks out there who question what to do...take it from me ..my satisfaction was 1000% positive!! Thanks Sherpa for your diligence and honesty. By the way, in case you`re wondering I transported a 2014 Ford Focus SE with only 29,000 miles from New York to Pheonix Arizona."

Factors that affect Arizona Car Shipping Prices

  • Distance: Arizona's vast size and location impact shipping costs. Longer distances, like from Phoenix to out-of-state locations, typically cost more. However, Arizona's central position and major highways (I-10, I-17, I-40) can make some routes more affordable.
  • Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for most Arizona shipments. Enclosed trailers cost about 50% more and may take longer, but offer protection from desert dust, intense sun, and occasional monsoon rains for high-value vehicles.
  • Pickup and Drop-off Locations: Shipping to/from urban areas like Phoenix, Tucson, or Flagstaff is usually cheaper than remote locations. Consider meeting the carrier in a larger city to save money if you're in a rural area.
  • Seasonal Factors: Summer in Arizona can affect pricing due to extreme heat. Carriers may charge more to compensate for increased fuel consumption from running A/C. Winter is often more affordable, except during the snowbird season when demand increases.
  • Vehicle Size: Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks, common in Arizona for off-road adventures, typically cost more to ship due to their weight and size. Compact cars are usually more affordable to transport.
  • Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship. If your car can't roll, brake, or steer – perhaps due to Arizona's harsh climate effects – it'll cost more as special equipment is needed.
  • Timing Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window (like Sherpa's five-day option) can reduce costs. Rush services for quick pickups in Arizona's busy urban areas or remote locations will increase the price.
  • Route Popularity: Common routes, like Phoenix to Los Angeles or Tucson to San Diego, may be more affordable due to high carrier availability. Less traveled routes to small Arizona towns might cost more.

Understanding these factors can help you plan your Arizona auto transport more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

  • Book early: Schedule your shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from the same area.
  • Choose open transport: Open shipping offers the lowest rates and greatest flexibility for negotiating prices. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport is typically more cost-effective.
  • Consider location: Pickup and drop-off points near major interstates like I-10, I-17, or I-40 can reduce costs. Our advisors can help you find optimal locations in Arizona that balance convenience and affordability.
  • Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and potential liability issues. Lighter vehicles are more fuel-efficient and may result in lower transport costs.
  • Be flexible: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates. Additionally, being open to various nearby locations for pickup and drop-off can lead to more cost-effective options.
  • Leverage Sherpa's expertise: Our experienced advisors understand Arizona's unique landscape and transport needs. We can help you navigate options like avoiding busy urban areas during peak times or utilizing less congested routes through the state's diverse terrain.

  • Major routes: Arizona's key interstates (I-10, I-17, and I-40) are well-traveled by auto transporters, potentially leading to faster pickup and delivery times.
  • Seasonal factors: Winter visitors, or "snowbirds," can increase demand for auto transport services during cooler months. Book early if shipping during this period.
  • Border proximity: If you're near the Mexican border, be aware of potential delays due to increased security checks.
  • Desert terrain: Arizona's rugged landscape may influence transport routes. Some remote areas might require more flexible pickup or delivery locations.

By understanding these local nuances and following the steps outlined above, you can ensure a smooth car shipping experience to or from the Grand Canyon State. Remember, Sherpa Auto Transport is here to guide you through every step of the process, making your Arizona auto transport as seamless as possible.

A Local Guide to Vehicle Transportion in Arizona

When moving to or from Arizona, it's crucial to understand the state's unique vehicle requirements and regulations. Arizona doesn't use traditional toll readers, as there are no toll roads in the state. However, if you're bringing a vehicle with a toll reader from another state, it's wise to remove it to avoid unexpected charges.

Arizona requires vehicle emissions testing in the Phoenix and Tucson areas. If you're moving to these regions, you'll need to have your vehicle inspected within 90 days of registering it. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) oversees vehicle registration, which can be completed online or in person at a Motor Vehicle Division office.

Parking regulations vary by city, but many urban areas offer residential parking permits. In Phoenix, for example, you can apply for a permit through the city's website. Be sure to check local regulations in your new neighborhood.

When settling in Arizona, you'll need to set up utilities. Major providers include:

  • Electricity: Arizona Public Service (APS) or Salt River Project (SRP)
  • Water: Varies by city, often managed by the local government
  • Internet: Cox Communications, CenturyLink, or Xfinity

Don't forget to update your voter registration and enroll your children in local schools. Arizona's Department of Education website offers resources for finding and enrolling in schools. Public libraries are abundant, and most offer free library cards to residents.

If you're leaving Arizona, remember to cancel local memberships, forward your mail, and notify important contacts of your move. The U.S. Postal Service website makes mail forwarding easy.

Keep in mind Arizona's unique climate when planning your move. Summers can be extremely hot, especially in desert areas like Phoenix. Consider scheduling your move during cooler months if possible. When transporting your vehicle, ensure it's prepared for high temperatures and has proper cooling systems.

Major highways in Arizona include I-10, I-17, and I-40. These interstates connect major cities and offer scenic drives through diverse landscapes, from cacti-dotted deserts to pine-covered mountains. Be prepared for occasional dust storms, known locally as haboobs, which can reduce visibility on highways.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle.
