What our Indiana customers say about Sherpa:

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"The fact that Sherpa paid to be with ConsumerAffairs was part of the selling for me. I had one gentleman who said, "We don't need them." They didn't need the rating. I told him that just for his attitude, I was not gonna choose their company and thanked him for his time. It was a simple yes or no question on whether they were rated. He didn't need to bash them. Sherpa did a great job. They sent videos of the car as did I before it left my home. They came right to my house, picked up the car in my neighborhood, and shipped it all the way to Oregon from Indiana."

Consumer Affairs
★★★★★

"The drivers showed up on time. My house is on a small street and you have to make several very sharp turns in order to get there. The drivers were unable to get the truck to my house so they parked it a couple of blocks away and I just drove the car down there to them. They were careful with the car. They drove off and I was not concerned about the car when they took it away. Based upon when they picked up the car, it could have been delivered to California before I got there myself to receive it. So, I asked the driver to deliver it to a friend of mine who lived not too far away, and he agreed to do that. Sherpa is reliable and competitive on price with other companies."

Yelp
★★★★★

"I recently shipped my SUV from Indianapolis, IN to Henderson, NV with Sherpa Auto Transport and I was pleased with the service. My vehicle was in mint condition upon arrival and the transport was faster than expected. I would highly recommend Sherpa Transport and if I get too lazy to drive back to Indy I will call them again!"

Factors that affect Indiana Car Shipping Prices

  • Distance: Indiana's central location affects shipping costs. Transporting to/from neighboring states like Illinois, Ohio, or Kentucky is typically less expensive than cross-country routes. The state's extensive network of interstates, including I-65, I-69, and I-70, facilitates efficient transport.
  • Trailer Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for most Indiana shipments. Enclosed transport, while about 50% pricier and often slower, offers protection from Indiana's varied weather, from summer storms to winter snow, for high-value vehicles.
  • Pickup and Drop-off Locations: Urban areas like Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, or Evansville often have lower shipping costs than rural locations. Consider meeting your carrier in a larger city or near major highways to potentially reduce costs.
  • Seasonal Factors: Indiana's weather can impact shipping costs. Winter snow and ice may increase prices due to challenging road conditions. Summer, particularly around the Indy 500 in May, can see higher demand and prices.
  • Vehicle Size: Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks common in Indiana's rural areas may cost more to ship due to their weight and size. Compact cars popular in cities like Bloomington or West Lafayette are generally less expensive to transport.
  • Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship. If your car can't roll, brake, or steer – perhaps due to Indiana's sometimes harsh winter conditions – expect higher costs for special equipment needs.
  • Timing: Flexibility can lead to savings. A five-day pickup window is often the most cost-effective. Rush services for quicker pickup or delivery, such as during a sudden job relocation to Indiana's growing tech sector, will increase costs.
  • Route Popularity: Common routes, like between Indiana and Florida (a popular snowbird path), may offer better rates due to high carrier availability. Less traveled routes might be pricier.

Understanding these factors can help you plan your Indiana auto transport more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of cost factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

  • Book early: Schedule your shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from the same area.
  • Choose open transport: Open shipping offers the lowest rates and greatest flexibility for negotiating prices. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport is typically more cost-effective.
  • Strategic pickup/dropoff locations: Work with Sherpa advisors to find convenient locations near major interstates like I-65, I-69, or I-70. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall price.
  • Empty your vehicle: Remove all personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates potential liability issues for the transport company.
  • Be flexible: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates. Consider adjusting your schedule to take advantage of more cost-effective shipping options.
  • Consider seasonal factors: Indiana's weather can impact shipping costs. Summer months often see higher demand, while winter weather may affect routes. Planning around these factors can help you find better rates.
